We stayed two nights and it was perfect for us. It was spotless and comfy. Even though it rained and was fffrrreezing we stayed nice and snug indoors. The bed was super nice to sleep in and the decor was extremely upmarket. We chose the larger room for space and were very much pleased we had. The owner was exceptionally nice man with an English accent and a cat and dog that made us feel very welcome. We loved loved Fox and dined at Lake Matheson Restaurant which was spectacular and well worth the meals we had there. If you want a quiet town in mid winter with plenty of room to move and space to think this is it! I highly recommend.
We had a great 2-night stay at the Rainforest Motel. We chose this place as it is pet friendly and we were traveling with our 2 wee dogs. Great location, just a short walk to all the restaurants and shops, only 100m or so from the main road. The units all appeared to be duplexes with plenty of parking. Our 1-bedroom unit was spacious and bright with plenty of windows. The heaters worked well to keep things warm. The kitchenette was well stocked and we were able to cook up some basic meals. The motel appeared well-maintained and spotlessly clean however a lot of the furniture was looking a bit tired and well-used – could be in need of an upgrade one of these days. The free Wifi internet was a nice bonus. Overall we had a great stay here and would definitely recommend it to other travelers. We would happily stay here again given the opportunity.…
Only stayed one night but very happy with this motel. Our 2 bedroom unit was very spacious - every room - and had great heating. Great location. Nice grounds. Loved the cat and dog. Owner gave us great advise about the best viewpoint for the ice!!
Very nice comfortable motel with friendly service and great views of the mountains. Shower is very hot, room warm, bed very comfortable, short walk to town. Lovely spot to stay with at least 4 restaurants to eat, lots of walks and recommend the helicopter glacier walk. Could easily spend 5 nights here, and recommend at least 2-3. Come visit now before the international tourists return which I am sure they will do in droves...
We booked a one bed unit for two nights . The unit was very spacious indeed. Spotlessly clean and the kitchen was very well equipped , which suited us perfectly as we like to self cater . A good selection of teas and some excellent coffee grounds were supplied . It was cool and rainy while we were there ,but the heaters kept the place nice and toasty . The shower water pressure is off the scale. One of the best showers we have ever had . The bed was large and extremely comfortable with the added bonus of an electric blanket . The location is excellent .A very short stroll into the small township with a beautiful mountain backdrop. The owner is very friendly and helpful (and the dog is gorgeous ) Highly recommended .
Stayed for 2 nights . Owned and operated by a good “ kiwi” bloke . Check in was easy The room was pretty basic but had everything we needed Not as clean as we normally expect and could do with some R & M Unfortunately the bed was uncomfortable and the stunning unusually hot weather during our stay with no aircon in the room added to the discomfort. However if you are on limited budget I’d recommend rainforest motel The owners dog is a bit of a character and very friendly as is the owner himself
We stayed three nights and found this motel excellent; even more so since we were travelling with our dog. Very friendly, nothing was a bother. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. Great view of the mountains from the property (weather permitting), refer to photo.. Would definitely stay here again.
We stayed at this lovely motel in Fox Glacier. You never know what you will get when you pull into a new motel, but wow, this was the best little motel we stayed at in the South Island, it was the cheapest too! The owners were so kind and helpful, full of local advice. The room was perfect, comfy beds, electric blankets, heaters, Sky TV, full kitchen, lovely big bathroom with the strongest shower I have had in a motel. There was no noise at night whatsoever, and we slept so well. Just down the road is Lake Matheson, and the view point for Fox Glacier as well. Also just back up the road to the intersection is a restaurant called "Cook and Saddle" where we had a delicious meal. Also this Motel has a pet friendly room, so our little Maltese could stay with us. The owner has a friendly labrador that welcomes you to the motel. So if you want a quiet and comfy motel in Fox Glacier, Rainforest Motel fits the bill completely.…
We stayed here for 1 night. Very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The room was excellent..spacious, clean, modern, comfortable beds, an excellent shower and bathroom. Easy parking right next to the room. All motels should be like this.
This is a typical motel for New Zealand with well equipped kitchen and en-suite. Rooms are comfortable and clean. It is situated within walking distance of the Fox Glacier Township where you will find restaurants and a short drive to Lake Matheson and Fox Glacier walk. We received a very friendly welcome and great information on things to do. Would certainly stay here again and recommend if you are walking in the area or as part of you New Zealand road trip.
