We spent 1 night here but completely fell in love with it. It's situated right next to the river, and really beautifully landscaped with trees and shrubs all the way round. The communal kitchen means making up food is easy to do. It's absolutely lovely.
Lovely area. Dog friendly. Gorgeous swimming hole, but mind the current if you are a weak swimmer. Modern, clean facilities. Forget using the drier, the washing line is quicker. Had a 'safe' zone in the kitchen lounge where the doors and windows had insect screens. This was a must, as they are strong and in great numbers there. We saw some fruit trees laden with pears and apples and thought that would be something the owner could maybe preserve and sell on to the holiday makers. We would have loved it!
Gorgeous surroundings, lovely staff, excellent facilities. Two swimming holes in the river and places to walk and cycle. Great common areas with everything you’d need. Clean and tidy this property is obviously well cared for. We’d definitely come here again.
Just stopped in for one night. Great layout with a lovely welcome. Everything is clean an tidy and just what you need whether you are in a motorhome or no doubt a tent. Bought some free range eggs as well. Good kitchen with TV and log fire. Highly recommend
Had a great time staying here during lockdown. Very friendly people, and a really beautiful camp, well maintained. Two swimming holes in the Buller River, short bush walks, and lots to do around the camp. Free unlimited wifi, well equipped and clean kitchen, clean toilets and showers, this camp has everything you could wish for. Will definitely return.
Great location right next to the river. A lovely warm welcome and a quick tour of the facilities before we found our idyllic spot . Everything clean and well kept. Good cooking and eating facilities. Toilets clean etc. Worth a stop.
I saw this camp 10 years just after completion not as a camper though but as an interested acquaintance of Karen - now as a camper I am stunned at how pristine the facilities are even 11 years down the track - like it has just been completed and frankly I have no problem with a 10am checkout as rude farewell indicates - sheer laziness on their part and lacking respect. I have watched Karen working all day in keeping the facility immaculate by herself - -lawns mowed (5 hours to do them !) the grounds are just beautiful I remember the young trees now flourishing affording both privacy and shelter along with their general beauty The swimming holes allow a cool refreshing bathe on a hot day and worth your while to take the six mile walk to see NZ’s first hydro electric dam planning on the flames in the forest trip today.. our dog has been welcomed and we will be back - good on you Karen a blissful place to stay…
The kitchen and relaxing area is the best I've ever seen in a campground, the rural setting is lovely and the two swimming holes are gorgeous. The place is spotlessly clean and Karen the owner is friendly and hospitable. I can only comment that "Rude Farewell" seems to make a habit of staying beyond check out time in many campgrounds he/she stays in so I ask "who is the rude one"? I saw Karen start her cleaning at 10am so is she supposed to wait until you are finished with your breakfast?
Stayed for 2 nights, nice clean, quiet camp ground. Has an awesome swimming spot in the river next to the camp ground. Super clean. Only downfall we felt were the timed showers, I had to stand cold with my daughter the first night while we tried washing her hair, the owner did say she had a family shower available but I never went over the code, my own fault. My partner said the men’s showers didn’t feel like they lasted 7mins either. But great campsite otherwise.
The camping is very beautiful indeed. With the river nearby and the natural pools to swim and refresh. Absolutely clean facilities and very peaceful. We had a worm welcome and everything would be perfect if on the next day the cleaning lady wouldn’t request us to leave in a rude tone and in not very friendly manner. Because we were finishing our breakfast shortly after 10am which is the time to check-out. During our travel in NZ we have never been requested to leave even if we stayed much longer than the check-out time. Very disappointing in the end. Never will return to this place.
