The motel is the nicest one in the area and was greatly appreciated. It is nearly brand new and nicely appointed with kitchenet, small table and desk. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the room, comfortable bed and parking right outside the door. There is also onsite laundry, which we utilized as we were on a two-week road trip from Auckland to Queenstown. On the day we arrived we did a full day tour (kayak and hike) of Able Tasman Park and left Motueka in the late afternoon and arrived in Murchison around dark. We chose to stay in Murchison (vs another night in Motueka) to break up our next day’s drive down the west coast past Punakaiki and over Arthurs Pass to Christchurch. Staying at Murchison also provided us the flexibility to skip the west coast if the weather was not cooperating, as it’s located at the junction of the highways. We would gladly stay here again and would recommend it to others.

Amazing place to stay just a short stroll from town! Brand new well thought out rooms with all the features to make it feel like home! We stayed in an accessible room and it was very well laid out and functional for a wheelchair user. Highly recommend and would stay again!

A perfect overnight stop for our family of 4 on our way to the north. The beds are divine, rooms spotless, kitchenette well equipped and the hosts very, very friendly. There is also onsite laundry, which we utilized and free parking just outside the door. I would recommend to everyone without hesitation!

Friendly staff, modern and clean motel unit provisioned with everything you might expect. The king bed was incredibly comfortable. Although it’s on the main road the double glazing ensured it was very quiet. Great value for money and highly recommended.

A stunning place to stay. Our room was very comfortable, quiet and roomy. Owners went above and beyond to make sure we had a warm room when we arrived after our check in was delayed due to road closures and detours. Will definitely be returning.

This is a very good hotel which offers motel style rooms which are very modern, clean and well equipped with fridge, cooker, microwave etc. We booked here for a one night stay to break up the journey from the east coast to the west. Has everything you need for a short stay. They don’t provide a full breakfast, but they do provide bread for toast and spreads so you can make your own, there’s also places in town you can get breakfast, or you could bring your own with you and cook it yourself.

We were 4 ppl staying in one of the larger family rooms. Very modern and spacious. Great hot showers and a bath. Comfortable beds. Plenty of new cooking equipment. Very comfortable stay. Owners offered milk and also opened the hot water room to dry our wet tramping gear. Very impressed with their generosity. Good washing machines and dryers

First time staying at the Grand and we were very impressed. Facilities were good, comfortable beds, great shower pressure and a very well kitted out kitchenette for those who are wanting to cook their own meals. I was very impressed with both the communication and flexibility of the staff who went out of their way to make our visit as easy as possible. Will certainly be back and can highly recommend. Fantastic brand new motel facility with air conditioned rooms. Laundry facilities available. Short walk to town. Paul the Motlier was extremely helpful allowing us to wash our bikes and store the securely in his garage.
