Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This motel does exactly what it describes. We had a basic but comfortable room which was spotless. The shower was good, the towels clean and good quality. Tea and coffee and milk were provide with a kettle, microwave, plates, cups etc and even insect spray. The motel is central to Murchison either walk (10 mins) or drive(2mins). We had a couple of hours each evening on the deck outside our unit playing cards, quite a pleasant place to sit and not a bad view. The price for the unit and service we received is extremely good value as well. We were here for two nights and the room was serviced for us, perfectly adequate for a short stay.

This was an unexpected highlight for 2 nights on our way to Motueka after biking the West Coast Wilderness Trail. Quiet motel on the outskirts of town but just 10 minutes walk away from the shops. Lots of space in our 2 bedroom unit which their online photos don't show. True the tv didn't have all the channels we'd hoped for, and we had to ask for more cutlery (as we were 5 not 4 people), and bench space is limited. But the wifi was good, it had a full stove AND a swimming pool which we used until we found the fantastic local swimming hole at the river. Staff were very helpful to all our requests.

This is an older style, clean, quiet motel. We have stayed here before because they allow our dog in the room. Good value for money. Our host was pleasant and told us about huge eels in a nearby creek. We went and fed them and were amazed how many there are.

Motel was OK, clean and average accommodation. Cooker was portable plate you lift out of cupboard but otherwise it was fine.
The bad thing was, on arrival the Manager started ripping into us about using Booking.com instead of booking direct. Unpleasant to the point we would have walked away, if we hadn't already paid in advance.
Be warned

After staying here last weekend I was more than impressed at the cleanliness of this whole complex,One of the cleanest motels I’ve stayed in. Bill was an absolute pleasure to deal with and nothing was a problem. Thank you for making us feel welcome. Will definitely be back and will be recommending to all. Thank you for having us 😊

My friend and I stayed at the Matariki Motel, it was great. It was spotlessly clean, tidy, quiet and everything you needed was there. Awesome view. The person we dealt with was friendly and helpful too. We would certainly stay there again

Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Small room but adequate for our one night stay. Kitchen has very limited bench space - would be better if microwave was wall mounted in order to free up bench. Parking right outside our room was great and nice outlook to farm next door.

Friendly check in. Clean motel room with en suite, a little small but it was more than OK for us. Very comfortable bed. All the normal bits to make tea, coffee etc. Table and chairs inside and outside under an awning. It looked newly refurbished. Room Nos 7.
There was a pool we didn't use and a BBQ area with grills we didn't use.
The people in the next room made use of the BBQ facilities and had me thinking I should have done so, as they sat outside their room with a wonderful spread. We walked for 10 minutes into town for our evening meal.
Car parking was in front of your room and there was no traffic noise from the road. WiFi worked better outside under awning in front of the room than inside. At $110 a good value for money place to stay.

From the moment we walked in the door, the manager was rude and aggressive towards us. He was upset because the credit card that we had used to book the room in September, was no longer valid in March. Rather than ask us for a new credit card (like a normal person), he started screaming at us. He made us feel so unsafe, that we walked out and drove another 90 minutes after kayaking all day and were exhausted. I would not recommend this place to anyone, including my worst enemy.
