Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for 1 night to break up the trip to Pohara. It was OK for 1 night I wouldn't stay here for longer. We travelled with 3 small children 1 was a 10 month old there is a $15 charge for a porta cot FYI. Could do with a re-furb even a paint lift. Beds were comfy and clean. We didn't cook but also found there wasn't much open on the Sunday for takeaways we got pizzas from the restaurant by the hostel they were delicious a bit pricey but worth it. Fine for 1 night stopover also no pool just to clarify.

Beware that the cheapest cabin accommodation is extremely basic. Shared bathroom was fine but kitchen equipment (stove, fridge utensils etc) was greasy and old with very well used cleaning cloths (yuk). Thin walls in this block, so early morning departures conversations will definitely wake you up. Overpriced for what you get; more expensive options are probably a better bet.

Stayed the night here in a beautiful green setting with our camper van.
The animal petting, feeding and just hanging out was a great break for the kids and some adults and ducks wandering the site was very cute.
We needed coins for the showers but reception only opened at 10 to help us - Very disappointing. Kitchen was a bit of a squeeze but worked out ok.

The facilities at the campsite is not fit for travellers to stay in. Toilets and bathrooms were filthy, kitchen was dirty, bins were full and was not emptied. It seemed like there was not cleaning done for ages, was ghosted and isolated and felt freaky and unsafe. Not suitable for solo travellers. I didn’t stay there after seeing the condition, I drove on to hanmer springs and stayed there instead, i told the owner about me not staying there and the reasons however they still fully charged me. Very unprofessional owners.

No nonsense cheap accommodation. We arrived late so checked in over the phone earlier in the day. We really appreciated the detailed information provided by reception to us via TXT (location, parking, facilities, internet password), which made it a quick process to get settled. Love the rural feel of this place with sheep in the field next door (behind a fence of course!).

Such a terrible campsite!!! what I wanna say is that their website is a total lie! I wonder how they won the awards and recommended by Lonely Planet, seriously?
Okay, totally understand the contactless check-in under the current COVID situation, so it's fine that we didn't see anyone at reception when we arrived and when we left. We followed the sign on their reception door directing us (campervan) to go straight to the spot and contact them after set up. we did, and they didn't answer the call, and we texted asking the wifi and hot water shower. After 2 hours, we received the reply asking us to check a website to find out internet options (definitely not a clear explanation).
And one hour later, a text arrived saying "Shower operates with a 50cent coin for 5 mins of hot water".
Okay, I got that! wifi and hot water shower are paid to use, which are not included in the staying rates (their campsite rates are not even cheaper compared to others, plus extra charges are applied for amenities)!!
Why the information is not mentioned on the website? It will be much more appreciated if the information re. wifi, shower and dumpstation was made clear when booking.
Bathrooms? well, spiderwebs and dead bugs everywhere! It seems not been cleaned for a while.
Forgot to mention that their facilities are quite dated! The map on their reception door didn't help us to easily find a right spot, as their sites are not numbered and not well organized.
This place is the worst campervan site we used so far!! And will definitely avoid it in the future!

I made a booking online on 11 June 2022, secured a room with 2 beds (1 x queen + 1 x single) at $142.50 for 2 ladies not related but from the same tramping club. The office was not open when we checked in on Boxing evening and out the following morning. $183.78 was charged onto my credit card. The explanation from the owner Lynn Winter was the price online when I made booking in June was incorrect and an extra bed was used. 27 days later with a few rounds of email communication, the owner didn't honour the original price I booked at 6 months ago or cancel the so- called extra person surcharge. Eventually I handed over the case to my credit card issuer and got the credit back. The amount involved was not significant but giving up means encouraging the wrong behaviour. I'm happy I pursued and won the case.

An absolute highlight of our South Island tour. New owner Sandy was such a gem. Friendly, helpful and so welcoming and relaxed with our kids.
The farm animals made our stay. We got to cuddle and feed newborn lambs! The kids fed chickens and collected eggs in the morning. We would travel to Murchison just to get to do this all again.
The motel is basic, but comfy beds and nice linen. Kitchen had everything we needed. Rooms were clean. Enough room for a family of 2 adults and 3 kids.
We appreciated the free wifi and sky.

Bear in mind we booked our stay almost a year in advance.
Management decided to send me a barely parsable text message on the day of my stay to inform us our dog accompanying had an extra charge. Fine.
After driving 4 hours and upon arrival the owners said our dog (our family) had to sleep in the car.
Completely unapologetic they blamed their own booking agents. We reserved and paid a year in advance...
We had to drive for another 4 hours for our nearest alternative. Horrid day.

We stayed in our caravan for two nights and our daughter & family stayed in a motel unit. The manager had put us close together by upgrading our daughters accommodation which was really appreciated.
The caravan sites are on hard form which is ideal considering the rain we have had lately.
The motel units are really a two bedroom houses with all the amenities. The animals including an Emu and Wallaby were a bonus.
