W were very happy with our accommodation at Off the Beaten Track, which, despite the name, is actually close to the main street of Murchison. The supermarket is about 5 mins walk away and quite well stocked.

Our cabin was at the rear of the property, just a short walk along a pathway. The path is loose gravel so its a bit tricky if you have cases with wheels. We found it easier to carry them.

The cabin was quite spacious and was very clean ad tidy. The accommodation is set behid the main house and thus is really in the garden which is very pleasant and we could open up the doors onto a deck with chairs and a sunny aspect in the late afternoon and lots of birds around..

We had everything we needed and were surprised to find the kitchen suplied with handwash and handtowel, something we have never had anywhere before. Much appreciated and so sensible.
Parking is at the front of the property just off the road

The cabins and suites are set in a lovely garden a short walk from the main road, but far enough to be very quiet at night. Aaron is a good host and even provided freshly picked fruit from the garden.
One of the local pubs, The Commercial, does a very good steak.

The accommodation was clean and well-appointed, and the gardens were lovely, giving a sense of privacy and serenity. The Tui cabin was good for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children), with good proximity to shops, which is about 50m down the road. Recommended.

This was a great little find in Murchison and good value for money. We rented the studio unit for an overnight stay and it was perfect for our needs. The units are set in an attractive garden with outdoor seating and a bbq. We appreciated this as it was a very hot day when we stayed there. The unit came with a modern and well-designed bathroom, queen size bed, fridge, microwave, and tea and coffee-making facilities. This was just right for an overnight stay but if you were staying longer you might want a bigger unit with more cooking facilities.

Check-in was easy: our host sent us a message regarding the location of the key before our arrival, but he was there to meet us when we arrived.
We stayed in the Falcon chalet for one night: spacious with 2 bedrooms, great kitchen facilities, fridge, air conditioning/heat pump, plus outside BBQ, outside deck, a nice garden with trampoline and hammock. Also has games and books for adults and kids. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk provided (also salt and pepper). Great shower. Comfy beds. Clean. Friendly.
On our return journey, we stayed one more night in the Tui chalet - much like the Falcon, possibly a little more private.
We will stay here again if we ever come this way again. Thanks!

There are not many places to stay on the way to Picton so we choose Off the Beaten Track and what a good choice this was. The accommodation consists of about 3 rooms/chalet at the back of an existing house with a veranda which over looked the garden. The room we had had modern decor and looked lovely. You had a microwave and a fridge in the room. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance.

Our family of 5 stayed here before doing the Old Ghost Road. Our host Arran was so accommodating and very knowledgeable about everything around the area and wider afield. We even had a bit of a sing along around the brazier which was cool. Accomodation was perfect for what we needed before heading off on a big adventure.

We spent several nights in the 2 bedroom unit. The location is excellent, just a stone's throw from the main street, but far enough away to be quiet. The gardens and grounds are gorgeous and inviting and there are even some equipment for the kids. The unit itself was clean and super comfortable. My only comment is a full size fridge would have been nice. The host, Arran was really friendly and has a wealth of knowledge regarding activities and attractions in the area, especially hiking and mountain biking. And there are a lot of things to do around this unassuming little town. We have set our sights on completing the Old Ghost Road at some point in the future, and when we do, we will definitely stay again at Off The Beaten Track.

Enjoyed our stay here. It was only one night but locals were friendly and room was immaculately thought out.It was warm and cosy. Trail garden was interesting.
There was safe parking out front and we would have liked to take advantage of the biking tour they provided but were in transit.
The bed was a gel bed and very comfy, nice clean fresh bedding and tiled bathroom. Very upmarket. My partner commented on the 'best sleep ever'!!
If you want total privacy a lockbox entry and quiet exit, this is the no stress place to stay.

Although we arrived in rainy weather, our one night stay in Falcon cottage exceeded expectations. It was cosy, clean and comfortable, having all the things you need to eat with and relax. The only slight drawback could be that the path is gravel and luggage cannot be wheeled, needs to be lifted. But it isn't much of a distance so didn't bother us, but could be an issue for someone older or with a disability.
The grounds are peaceful and quiet and if it had have been fine we would have enjoyed a nice walk. But looking at the scenery out of the window was just as nice. Check in was simple and our host was helpful. This accommodation is across the road from an excellent antiques shop that you can browse for ages in, and buy anything you choose to. Everything in the town is within walking distance. A really great stay at an affordable price.
