We stayed 1 night before starting the rail trail as a family group (4 adults, 1 child) and Leanne's place was perfect for us. Loved the character of the stone and wooden buildings (yes there was creaking at night but that just adds to the charm in my view). The garden was lovely with seating, bike stand and a gate at the rear so you could come and go without going past the owner's house. The kitchen was well equipped, breakfast delicious and the shower was fab. The cafe/dairy just over the road does great burgers and chips or alternatively Oliver's is also a hop, skip and jump away.

We stayed here the night before starting our ride on the rail trail, and it was perfect.

We sat out in the garden having dinner and a drink prior to sleeping in a wonderfully warm and comfortable bed.

The breakfast was the best we had on the trail, locally stewed fruit topped it off.

This is an amazing place to stay. The owner is friendly and extremely helpful, plus the dogs are adorable. The history of the Hartley Arms is amazing, it is historical but also beautiful and in excellent condition. It was warm and incredibly clean. The beds were very comfortable and the garden a delight!

My daughter and I stayed in a twin room at Hartley Arms at the beginning and end of our Otago Rail Trail trip. It's such a lovely cozy little historic place with a lovely garden full of classic Otago hollyhocks. It was spotlessly clean and warm and Leanne was the perfect warm and welcoming host. Her stewed Louisa plums made the best breakfast ever! We would love to come back again one day.

We stayed here at the start of the Otago Rail Trail. It was a very beautiful place, with a lovely garden. The room was warm, the beds comfy and the breakfast really generous. Everything was very clean and tidy, and the owner couldn't have been morer helpful. Highly recommended.

This was a delightful overnight stay before riding the Otago Trail. A stunning cottage garden outside the door, comfortable everything, a shared kitchen and bathroom, with everything necessary for breakfast. Highly recommended, and close to the river too.

Cycling trip for 5 friends and we landed here for the night... absolutely gorgeous accommodation, lovely & quiet, gardens amazing, breakfast was a gourmet feast in the morning. Owner was just delightful....the most fabulous place to stay. Just a shame it was only one night.

We stayed at the Hartley Arms last week, before starting the bike trail. Leane and Steve were very welcoming and full of information about the local area. We stayed in the bunkhouse, which was compact, but very comfortanle beds and pillows. There is a cosy kitchen for all the guests to share and nice little garden to sit in. We enjoyed our stay here and would reccomend the Hartley Arms as good value for a stay in Clyde.

Small old cottages sharing a bathroom. A noise like an air conditioner on all night disturbs light sleepers. Beds are tired but garden is superb. Very basic kitchen provided fresh light breakfast set up to help yourself. Central to all needs in Clyde.

We stayed in the two rooms in the garden and were very comfortable - they were more like motel rooms with ours having a small fridge, microwave and dishes. The main house is beautifully restored and the host are wonderful. Full of history of the area and the house (the original pub). They have just restored two downstairs rooms just before we arrived (not available when we booked so took the garden ones) and they are amazing. If you are going through this part of New Zealand I would recommend to stay here in Clyde and also leave time to wonder through the historical part of the town.
