Travellers' Choice
Clyde Central is a space where good service, great chat and micro-moments of community are as important as the comfort of the rooms in which you'll stay. We believe in focusing on the little things - the things you may not expect. You'll discover options to connect, recharge, relax or retreat - wherever the mood takes you. Our bike cleaning station is communal - who doesn't love a trail chat with like-minded souls. The open outdoor fire lets you roast marshmellows with old friends, and new. Our rooms - quiet, comfortable and private. Sounds pretty good right? We think so too. Why not come say, hello. Situated in the historic town of Clyde, we are only a short stroll from popular cafes and shops within the historic precinct. Our self-contained units range from 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms. All units have a fully equipped kitchen, a flat screen TV, free WiFi and parking at unit door. We offer Complimentary Parking for guests while biking the trails and guests are welcome to use the free gas BBQ in the BBQ area or sit in front of our pizza fire which is particularly popular after a day of sightseeing, wine tasting or cycling in the region. The units are equipped with large central heating convectors for the winter traveller. Genuine and aiming to give you the best possible experience! Breakfast is available in our stone stables (Oct - April) or delivered to your room for an additional cost.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The rooms are a little old (the Shacklock oven was a blast from the past) but spotlessly clean and had everything you needed. The bedroom was small and would only fit one suitcase but there was room in the lounge for other luggage. Full kitchen with everything you needed. The bathroom had a separate toilet and the shower was up a step so if you need walk-in make sure you request a room without that step up. We loved the location just out of the town centre. Staff were great especially Tilly and Rocket!

We often visit the South Island and although we have been to this general area many times, this is the first time we have visited the small town of Clyde next to the Clutha river and the famous Clyde Dam. This small motel is conveniently located close to the town centre Everything about the place is clean, neat and tidy, and very quiet and peaceful. We stayed in a two bedroom suite which has a 1970's feel. The main room was spacious and comfortable. All curtains including the nets particularly in the main bedroom are very badly fitted, but the bed is comfortable. The shower and toilet are very cramped with unnecessary partitioning in a very small area, and the kitchenette does not have a work surface. Everything else is adequately satisfactory. Fizz, the new owner this year, was very friendly and helpful and as dog lovers we enjoyed the company of Rocket the golden retriever who visited us on several occasions. We would certainly come here again

We recently stayed at Antique Lodge Motel for two nights, in order to cycle the new Lake Dunstan trail. The booking/communication was all super easy and the unit ready upon our arrival. We stayed in a two bedroom unit, which was perfect for us. The unit is spacious, warm, very quiet at night with no disturbing lights (make sure to check out the stars), and the beds are very comfortable. Fizz, the host, gave us the space we wanted, made us feel welcome and was there when we needed her. Perfect for a family stay. We also enjoyed that everything in the village is within walking distance.

Wanted to give this place a 5 star but sadly can't. The owner made my phone booking easy & we felt valued customers. Self check in online was a great option & room was unlocked on arrival but we had to ring for our room key when we went out for dinner so we could lock our room. VERY disappointed to come back from doing the Lake Dunstan trail to find our room wasn't serviced & our towels weren't replaced & still on bathroom floor. Had to ring for towels & were told where to help ourselves. Our son loved having their dog Rocket in our unit for so many hours but you'd think they'd come & vacuum up the piles of dog hair the next day but again unit wasn't serviced which it definitely should be at $175 a night. Other reviews mention breakfast.... never heard of it........ Great location super close to town & restaurants. Only saw owner once when rang to get key & she was lovely. Sadly no hot water either day, it was luke warm, made for quick showers! If you're like me & like a cake of soap instead of body wash, take your own. Very comfortable beds & pillows & lovely linen. Well equipped kitchen. Good range of heaters in the room. So dark & quiet, great for a good night's sleep.

Hi, I'm sorry that you weren't completely happy with your stay. Our rooms are only serviced on request (as per pre-arrival information) and we are more than happy to if asked. Breakfast is an optional extra and can be added when booking or on arrival. And yes, we did have issues with our hot water at that time with the hot water element not working properly and this has since been fixed. Hopefully you will come back and stay with us and have a better experience. Regards, Fizz

We loved everything about our stay. From the warm welcome by Fizz and the dogs to the great Barbecue area we felt very comfortable and at home. We loved the fact that there is very little plastic waste and recycling is encouraged. You are just a short walk from restaurants and shops in Clyde. It is a very convenient place to stay if you are doing the Dunstan Trail or the Otago Rail Trail.
We would thoroughly recommend it.

Antique Lodge Motel is centrally located, with the Four Square a few doors down and some really nice shops not far in the other direction. Just prior to check in I received a welcome text message with instructions on how to check in which was appreciated. I am a bit technically challenged but was able to complete the contactless check in on arrival. We were travelling with family and after a long day of travel it was great to have facilities to self cater. The breakfast provided was amazing (quite possibly the nicest we had during our rail trail experience) and the scones were a highlight. Overall, a great value, clean, tidy, and comfortable place to stay before starting the Otago Rail Trail. Thank you

We stayed 3 nights in this warm, clean, well equiped motel. Fizz is great communicating about your booking and is very helpful with anything you need while staying. She genuinely wants you to enjoy your stay at her motel and Clyde, which we did. Absolutely recommend staying here, lovely to be greeted by Rocket the retriever and his little side kick Tilly!

We loved our stay at Antique Lodge Motel. From the moment we booked when the lady was very accommodating making sure we would all fit it. The children loved the two beautiful golden retriever dogs who were very friendly and adorable. We sat around the warm outdoor fire and the children toasted marshmallows supplied by the motel owners. Very friendly place to stay and would not hesitate to stay again.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom motel unit which was warm, quiet and very comfortable. It was just a few minutes walking distance of a number of Clyde restaurants. Fizz was a great hostess and her two dogs were friendly and welcoming. Fizz’s outside fire was wonderful on a frosty winter night and we appreciated her invitation to sit beside it. A very enjoyable stay.
