Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After a snowboarding accident resulted in my travel buddy being admitted overnight in Dunstan Hospital at 9pm and no where for me to go Euan was so accomodating and met me with an open door and a very cute puppy. He provided a warm cup of tea and bowl of soup on arrival and a very comfortable room set up with heaters and electric blankets. The property and garden was absolutely beautiful and very cozy for a -7 degree night. In the morning Euan really went above and beyond, made a delicious hot breakfast, a fabulous cup of coffee and even helped defrost my car. Would not hesitate in recommending this place to anyone.

We had a great night staying in Clyde at the Hartley Homestead before starting off on the Rail Trail. Euan was a very friendly and welcoming host, he handmade a very hearty cooked breakfast for the both of us as well. We stayed in the Retreat room, was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Extremely comfy bed as well! Would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay in Clyde at the extremely picturesque Hartley Homestead. The facilities were top notch all rooms were wonderfully warm and clean. Our host Euan Mackenzie went above and beyond with gourmet breakfasts, and a wealth of information about the best places to see and visit during our stay. Thank you so much Euan we had the best time.

Thanks again Euan for a welcoming stay - still the BEST BEDS ever & we enjoyed all I enjoyed when I stayed in March & this time I shared with my partner. The cooked breakfast (love the bread) & special coffee was very appreciated & set us up perfectly for our biking. The extras such as dressing gowns, extra towels add to the enjoyment of the stay. Thank you for your hospitality again.

Euan, thanks for making us feel so welcome. We loved our room above the garage with the separate living area. The water pressure in the shower was amazing. And everything was spotless. Breakfast of homemade bread, bacon, potatoes, tomato and eggs was delicious. We loved the back garden with the view of the Clutha River. And thanks for looking after us so well. We had four brilliant days and look forward to seeing you and Jazz the dog again soon.

Quiet in spacious gardens, good off road parking (with EV charging), a seriously good cooked breakfast (thanks Euan!), an easy walk to everywhere. What more do you need? Note: If you have any mobility issues then the loft over the garage is probably not the best choice. Its roomy but the steps are a little steep and the bathroom is downstairs.

We stayed with Euan, his partner and Jazz before and after our cycle ride along the Central Otago Rail Trail. What a beautiful place. We even sampled a taste of his bbq abilities. Great room styled in the same theme as the homestead which overlooks the Clyde River. Would love to come back and stay again, maybe in Winter next time. And thanks Euan for finding our phone charger.

Thank you Euan for opening your home to us! The house is beautiful, elegant but also homely at the same time. The grounds are delightful especially as it was early Spring. We loved meeting Jazz and we enjoyed your hospitality! The bed we slept in was so comfortable and we had everything we needed. We enjoyed a lovely walk around the historic village before dinner at the Post Office cafe, just around the corner. Breakfast was such a treat and so delicious, and not to mention the great lattes you made for us. Would love to visit again!
