The Backpacker wing offers an ideal layout for small groups who enjoy the communal facilities available. I am please this has been your second stay and that the standard has been maintained.
Good facilities, enjoyed the inhouse entertainment. That was unexpected and lovely. Warm rooms and bedding which was comfortable and clean. Rooms a good size for our family of 4. We stayed in the motel side but were able to use the backpacker kitchen. Only 1...More

Stayed for opening weekend of ski season 2018. Location had great access for the Whakapapa ski field. The staff were friendly and the rooms were warm. Great value for money. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet as well. Would stay again and have recommended to others.

Well I'm not sure about the bus going all the way to the skotel, I doubt that very much. It will more than likely drop you off at Whakapapa village as outlined in above answer. Best ask at the big store where bus will prob drop you off, where is best place to thumb a lift to Whakapapa. Its not that far, just a few kilometers, will be other people travelling up to the chateau and the skotel for sure, just hold up a sign, be plenty people go there.
