This is a very stunning location for a wedding. When we were looking for venues near Auckland to get married, we were highly recommended Tawharanui Lodge and it did not disappoint one bit. The venue was superb and perfect for us to mark our special occasion. It was such a stunning place and setting to get married. To cap it all off Karl and Jo were absolutely amazing in making this the perfect day for us, we cannot thank them enough. All the details that we wouldn’t have considered were all carefully thought of by Karl and Jo. The bubbly that was brought to our for the groomsmen and bridesmaid while we were getting ready on the day was just an example how they thought of everything. We stayed at Tawharanui Lodge the night before plus an extra night after the big day which made things so much easier for us. Just to mention, we are a couple who came all the way from the UK, so you can imagine the logistics of organising everything, but Karl and Jo made this a breeze. The rooms for the Bride and Groom were perfect, smart and beautiful. The whole venue was just perfect. One heads up though is do not rely on the Google images of the area, we saw how stunning the place is having been there. We liked the place so much we definitely will be going back there, very soon.

Attended a wedding here recently and it was perfect. Excellent outdoor space with lots of indoor options also. The weather co-operated to enable the event to be held on the grounds with the reception in the marquee space.
The hosts work particularly hard and are very friendly, accommodating and helpful.
There is plenty of on site parking and the venue can host both reception and breakfasts for the next day. It s also close to the beach. Highly recommend.

Tāwharanui Lodge was such a beautiful, rustic venue for a wedding. The permanent marquee meant all weather was catered for. There was a beautiful lawn space, so my daughter and son-in-law brought along lawn games (giant Connect Four, croquet, giant Os and Xs, etc) for guests to play while champagne and canapes were served.
Great food, also catering for different food restrictions.
The dressing room for the bride's attendants was fabulous.
The bagpipes that heralded in the bride echoed around the estuary.
Such a beautiful event. Jo and Karl were so accommodating.
And there was a small family of tame eels in the estuary. You don't get that in the city. :-)

I’d been to this venue quite some time ago and this time it had the “wow” factor!
We got together at Tawharanui Lodge in December for a family get together and I could not have been more impressed.
There was no one thing that made the visit special, it was the combined package of gorgeous grounds, stylish decor, convivial hosts, cold crisp beverages and several courses of food fit for royalty!
That the weather played ball just topped off what was a very special day for us all.
You won’t be disappointed if you choose to host or attend an an event at Tawharanui Lodge, not only because the owners’ have such great taste, but they have the attitude that there are no such things as problems, only solutions.
I can see why this place is becoming a hot pick for weddings.
I can’t wait to find another excuse to go back!!

The room was perfect, looking out in to the estuary, which I found myself there a lot. So beautiful. And so relaxing..
The chalet was faultless. Beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. There was fresh fruit, provided with a continental breakfast to enjoy before we reluctantly had to leave. . Next time we are going to have the entire weekend.
Thank you so much Jo and Karl.

As the father of the bride at my daughters wedding I was thrilled with the venue.
The grounds were beautiful, the option for a lawn ceremony was stunning.
The marquee for dinner, drinks and shelter from the sun capped off a fantastic weekend.

In our party there were two couples & proprietor put us in two lodges, lovely accommodation & surrounding area wonderful. (we were the only ones on site). The owner, whilst being very pleasant was not really switch on.

Our room had no cups, saucers or glasses & the milk she left was off. (Good job we had a small amount of milk in our bag & had tea in relays with our friends). One of the lights in the bathroom was out & only one hand towel.
As soon as we moved our bags into the lodges she left, locking the main building up. Slightly concerning if there had been an emergency as she left no contact no.
When we returned from the beach later that afternoon the cups were in the room. Breakfast was excellent & well cooked but we just got the impression that the wedding business was her main priority and guests were a secondary consideration.

My brother recently married here and we stayed the night before and after the wedding. It was peaceful and Jill looked after us very well - nothing was too much trouble. Dinner, breakfast, making everyone comfortable. We had a passport fiasco and Jill helped us with finding numbers and contacts, etc. She remained calm when we were not. Its a quiet spot for privacy and our families had a lovely wedding celebration.

My wife and I recently spent a long weekend with Jill and Peter at Tawharanui lodge. We had a beautiful room in the chalet, they are large, well decorated and so so quiet. It is only 5 minutes out to the regional park, so we intended to spend some time out there, however my wife was not so well, so we spent a couple of afternoons in front of the log fire, keeping warm and relaxing. It is so easy to relax, as Jill and Peter make you feel as if you are really welcome, and that you should make the lodge your home for the time you are there. As part of the tariff a really big and tasty breakfast is included, which should be more than enough to fill anyone up, ready for the days excursions. On Saturday night we had a lovely dinner in the onsite restaurant, and as the lodge is licensed a rather nice bottle of wine accompanied the food. Overall we had a great weekend, it is like being in a little bubble - away from the rest of the world in lovely surroundings. We liked it so much we have already booked another weekend.

My husband and I travelled here to get married in December and of course there's an element of bias when I say this, but I can honestly say it was the most amazing wedding and perfect day. Jill and Peter went above and beyond for my husband and I and every one of our guests commented that it couldn't have gone more perfectly.

The food was something else. Wow. Jill is a very talented lady. She has been in the business a long time and it shows through the care she puts into every little detail from the table decorations to the food. The grounds are immaculate and the marque is beautiful. The location is just stunning - Tawharanui beach and nearby Matakana are easily accessible but it's also far enough away to feel secluded and exclusive.

Our guests stayed prior to and after the wedding and the food and service throughout was second to none.

I cannot recommend this place enough and I really look forward to our next visit to New Zealand to stay for a romantic weekend away.

Thanks again Jill and Peter

"We were in one of the villas, which have a beautiful outlook over the estuary, and are private, being apart from the main house. This was a complimentary upgrade, we had booked the loft room (largely for the spa bath, but we didn't miss it!)."
