Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a great couple of days at Whangateau Holiday Park. The whole set-up is great the toilet/shower, kitchen and games room are all centrally located. Very clean and well maintained. The staff at reception were awesome, very friendly and had local knowledge about things happening in the area. Handy location close to Goat Island reserve (a must visit), Matakana and lots of different bays. 10 out of 10.

This is our 4th visits and we still enjoyed it like our first visit, camp grounds, facilities are clean and superb. the water front is very good for young kids and we've enjoyed it very much. Petrina is extremely helpful and checking in is a breeze, this holiday park would still be our yearly short getaways go to from years to come.

We love Whangateau have had several visits upgraded showers are brilliant staff are lovely helpfull and friendly. Our one negative this year was the jump from $60 a night waterfront to $85 Several waterfront sites roped off leaving 4 available hence the premium pricing. Sadly at $85 a night off peak, prices most retired folk out.
A reduced midweek would bring us back

Booked 1 night in a 'budget cabin' $150 for 2 adults 1 child, bottom sheets supplied, jug & toaster but no towels, bedding, cups or anything for a cup of tea (as advertised) . Showers were pitiful (water restrictions in place). Beds were comfy & toilets not to far away. Office staff nice. Would have been better for us to book an air bnb at $170

We hired 3 cabins, all very clean and tidy, close to the amenities. The shared areas, bathrooms, toilets, kitchen and games room are all well presented, clean and cater for all your needs. The location presents great views of the estuary, with easy walks available of the surrounding areas. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, making checking in and out a breeze. The cabins were very warm and comfortable, contained bedding and cooking and cleaning utensils also available if you forget yours. There is an assortment of accommodation available to cater for all group sizes and families and all at very reasonable rates.

We have been coming to this campsite since 1995 so 30 years this year !

It is a lovely family friendly campsite right on the waterfront.

There is heaps to do and see in the local area very close to Matakana, Omaha and Leigh.

It has great toilets, showers and kitchen/bbq facilities that are always kept very clean.

One hour from Auckland

Great spot by the estuary especially if you book early and land a pitch by the water, great facilities, very clean and well maintained through the night as well!
Most importantly for me at the time I found the staff extremely empathic and considerate to my needs, seeking quiet trying to escape the chaos and bustle of Auckland where I live, they were willing to go the extra mile to cater for my needs.
Best wishes to all that helped!

This camp was amazing. The staff could not have been more helpful. We stayed on a powered caravan site and it was very easy to manouvre and set up. The facilities were very clean and a pleasure to use. It is right on the beach with safe swimming and plenty of extras for kids big and small to enjoy.

We love this holiday park. It is reasonably small and it is very friendly. The endless hot showers are great and being so close to the water is handy for paddleboarding and having a late afternoon swim. The park is spotlessly clean. Even during the early hours of the morning, cleaning is happening - brilliant. The staff are lovely and friendly and accommodating.

We always love coming here. This year we had a bigger group and what can I say we had a fantastic stay. The facilities are always clean and plenty of ovens/stove tops, bench space and dining areas we didnt have to wait in line even for showers. This is a great campsite, not too big and overcrowded its just right. Kids loved swimming to the pontoon too. A big thank you to Laurie who is always friendly and welcoming everytime and we appreciate you sharing your local knowledge on where to find Kina. Great place to stay

Hi Penny. Apologies for the VERY late reply. Our park does not take dogs due to its location - we are directly across from Horseshoe Island and are surround by wildlife habitat.
