I spent three days on a kiwi farmstay end of January. It was a wonderful experience how to learn about the animals and the people living there. Me and my family enjoyed to feed, help, and organize the animals. We also appreciated to go to the hot beach, riding horses and at last having a tour on the motor bike. One of the most exciting things I did was to build a gigantic hay hut. It was fun for the kids to climb around and interesting for the adults to help and make the hut better. The thing that was the hardest in this weekend was to ride on the pig (Lucky). I think it is a real experience for the kids with lots of fun and it is also good for the adults because they get the filling to return in the past when they were young. Before finishing, one last thing that I will have forever in my memory is the kindness of Simon, Veronica, Luca and Sophie, the four friendly hosts, being so generous, nice, looking forward for having new friends and being ready for any adventures. I had an unforgettable time in this farm with the animals and the farmer’s family.

Staying with Simon, Veronica and the group of people here at the Kiwi Farmstay has been excellent. I liked it so much, I decided to stay for an extra 3 nights more than my original booking. This seems to be a regular occurance from many people that arrive here.

The location is an hour north of Auckland, but is easy to reach by car. Simon also regularly picks up people arriving at a nearby bus stop from the Auckland airport. Just make sure to arrange that in advance if you need it.

So what makes this place so special? The people. The farm animals. The atmosphere of the house itself. The numerous activities all nearby that Simon often coordinates. The feeling of being apart of the group of travelers here. I will surely miss them.

In my 5 day stay I had the option of riding horses, went to a chocolate store, a honey factory with bees, a sporting area where I shot targets with an air gun, mini-golf, driving range, batting cages and more.

We rode on Simon's ATV and motorcycle. We sheared a goat. We helped feed the animals and were able to interact with them as much as we chose. We even helped catch them and put them back when needed. I went to 2 beaches, played frisbee, we had a barbeque, we played tennis twice, we went to a cheese factory, we went to the oldest pub in New Zealand and more. Plus we had the option to do many more things if I wanted.

My kids had a great time too. I wish I could have stayed longer. It is rare that you find people you would consider your friends in such a short time. I am very grateful for the experience and hope to come back one day.

Simon & Veronica are the perfect hosts, and the extended family including the dogs, sheep, goats, pig, calf, little chick and her chicks, geese, and the wee possum are all very welcoming and create a memory of a lifetime, with a kiwi twist...(feeding the animals was a great experience for this city gal too)
We had a family BBQ on the deck with gourmet food, sunshine and five star views!
This is the life...!

I've been to A Kiwi Farm for internship for 17days. It's my unforgettable exprience! Everything was new for me.
Simon family were so kind to everyone. If you go there, you can enjoy feeding animals(goats/cows/a big pig/sheep/chikens/ducks) and eating fantastic dinner. And also you can do lots kinds of activities near the farm. If it's sunny day, you can see beautiful millions stars at the night. Whichever you choose, you can make great memories with amazing family and place. I really recommend you this farm.

I have been a number of times with my daughter who is 5 nearly 6 and she loves the farmstay and am looking to go again next month. My daughter says the best experience is feeding the chickens and found the experience a homely one and a relaxed atmosphere and I will be going up plenty of times to come

Simon and his partner will do what ever they could to make you have a good stay at their farm (moto, advice of things to do in the region, shear a sheep, feed a veal...). We were with our 2 kids (2 years and 2 month), they both really enjoy the stay especially the older one. I could not really review the lodge as we stay there with our campervan (no powered campsite), but the house is nice and brand new.
Take car if you book trough their website and bookit.co.nz. The website makes a mistake for me on the price and Simon still own me 20$.

If you want to experience life on a farm and have great fun with great hosts then look no further. My 3 children loved feeding the pig, sheering a sheep, fetching the cattle, drenching livestock, holding the chick's; the list goes on. Furthermore, on our 3 night stay we got to visit other local attractions including horse riding and bathing in hot water pools.

Simon and Veronica really do have the balance here. They were very welcoming and I would have no hesitation in recommending this farm-stay. Can't wait to return.

In January it was a fun holiday experience for a family that had returned to live in NZ. Simon gave the girls of 10 and 13 so much 'hands on' time with the friendly animals teaching them so much and letting them help shear the goats. They rated it tops and still talk about it. There were other places nearby to explore and all recommended activities thoroughly enjoyed. Would recommend for city children and families, even Grandma.
