Spent two nights at the Harbour View. Our hosts Chris and Jane were very friendly and knowledgeable, with plenty of useful suggestions of places to visit. They booked a table for us at an excellent local restaurant on our first night. Our room was clean and well equipped. Breakfast was excellent.

It's roadside board says 'a great place to stay' and it's just so. Our holiday organiser Silver Fern in the UK both recommended and arranged our stay. Our hosts Jane and Chris were brilliant, nothing was any trouble, the breakfast was lovely, the room comfortable and the location very good. Jane and Chris provided lots insight on things to do and had a really helpful info booklet detailing all on offer. I thoroughly recommend as a place to stay.

The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, really nice room with a small balcony. Breakfast from the upstairs balcony overlooking the bay was fantastic, we sat inside the second morning but still a great view and to top it off the breakfast was superb. Simply the best B&B we have ever stayed in.

kia ora from tairua. thank you for your great comments, our new breakfast balcony has certainly been very popular this season. and apologies for the delay in responding - our season came to an abrupt end in march, and we have been busy helping our guests return home, as well as sorting out the many cancellations and refunds. hope all is well back in the uk - and that the foxes hold on to their top four position! best wishes, jane and chris

We stayed here for thee nights and absolutely loved the accommodation. We were greeted by name on arrival. Accommodation is excellent room was spacious clean and lovely decorated. It was great to have your own patio area. There is also a guest sitting room and beautiful garden with a pool. Jane and Chris made us feel at home and the advice they offered on the places we were going to visit was so helpful. The breakfast is also fantastic cooked to order with beautiful views of the harbour. This B&B is a must stay and excellent base if you are thinking of visiting the surrounding area. I highly recommend this place to stay.

This was a beautiful home away from home. The hosts were so helpful, courteous and friendly. Comfy rooms and great shower. It is set in walking distance to downtown and right on the ocean. . They serve a delicious breakfast. Their home is as clean as I’ve ever seen a B&B. They even did a load of laundry and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. Definitely would recommend this place!!! 5 stars

Chris and Jane were just terrific, especially when our trip to Cathedral Cove was cancelled for weather. Chris helped us find alternatives, and also shopped for a fun barbecue. We had the run of the house because we were 3 couples together. Breakfasts were delicious. Chris was generous with local knowledge. A very pleasant stay.

We stayed for 2 nights from the 19th March, upon arrival we were greeted very warmly by Chris and Jane, although we could tell they were very apprehensive about us being there due to the ongoing outbreak of COVID19. We had a king room that was at the front of the house on the ground floor, it was a large room and very clean. We were given a complimentary bottle of wine due to visiting for our 40th birthday celebrations. There were beach towels in the room for your use and spades outside the front door to take with you to hot water beach. The air conditioning in the room was super quiet, the bed very comfortable but there is no safe in the room. Breakfast was absolutely great, we had told them that I had a gluten and dairy intolerance, they certainly went out of their way to cater for this. You could have a mixture of fruit (which i loved) or granola with yoghurt, you then had a choice what you wanted for a cooked breakfast, they even supplied dairy free butter and gluten free bread. The homemade baked beans were also very good. This was our first experience of a bed and breakfast and it certainly has not put us off, we would definately recommend this property to future visitors to the area. From here you can walk to the local beach, which took about 20 minutes, the walk into the small town takes less than 5.

Greeted by name upon arrival. Excellent attention to detail. Everything very well set out and really well looked after. We have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending (and have already done so for friends). Thank you very much Jane and Chris for looking after us!

My friend and I stayed for one night over Easter weekend. The location itself is perfect and a quick walk into the town centre for our dinner plans, or a handy 30-min drive to Hot Water Beach/Hahei/Cathedral Cove with the addition of being able to borrow shovels.
I do wish the hosts were initially more responsive as I had left a message one night asking for the king bed to be separated into two individual beds, and I had to call again the next day for the request. Then again, it was a few days before Easter so I can understand the lag time since it's quite a busy time.
Our room was on the floor level and it was nice that we parked on the grass in the front yard so we could see our vehicle from the room. However, the only thing from stopping me from a return visit specifically to this lodge is the noise level. Since we were on street level, we could hear every truck barreling down, although it did lighten up at night.
Breakfast was wonderful! I actually hadn't realized it was a bed and breakfast when I initially booked so that was a nice surprise. Loved the mushrooms and freshly squeezed orange juice. Being able to break away from the main table to our private spot at the outdoor sitting area was appreciated.

Hi JY! it was great to meet both of you on your short Easter weekend stay with us recently we have not been described as unresponsive before - sorry for any misunderstanding, we may have missed your evening call first time round, as we B&B folk tend to finish our days earlier than average (so that we can be up early preparing our wonderful breakfasts!). and thanks for the feedback - yes the road is occasionally quite busy, especially on holiday weekends, but it is due to be resurfaced in the near future, which should considerably reduce the noise levels. and we promise to have croissants if ever you do decide to return here! best wishes, Jane and Chris
