We were warmly greeted by Renèe who showed us around the apartment to which she pulled every tourist info map of Tairua and gave us the best tips on where to eat, see and do in the area.
You can’t go past the view - it was breathtaking!
Situated on Mount Paku, it’s a quick brisk walk to the summit or the beach below. Close to town with a 4 square and dairy so if you forgot anything at home you can get from here.
Cute little town with some great local people. This won’t be the last time we visit Tairua xx

This apartment offers a superb view over Paranui beach, an external dining area and comfortable living for two people. It is equipped with a drawer-type dishwasher, combination microwave, washing machine and electric hob, thus offering all you are likely to require for your stay. The owner, Renee, was very helpful throughout our stay, offering to assist us with luggage in and out, giving us tips for places to visit and also providing small spades for visiting Hot Water Beach.
The apartment sits part-way up Paku, an extinct volcano, and you can walk to the top of it from the apartment without requiring a car, should you be fit (or daft) enough. The location of the apartment does require that you have use of a vehicle, as it is quite a long way from the centre of Tairua. The views from the apartment and the outside patio are superb in good weather.
Tairua itself is very well-situated for touring the Coromandel but is also a very pretty place in itself, and we found Coastal Heights to be perfectly positioned for exploring both the town and the surrounding areas.

Large spacious apartment with lovely water and mountains views from the balcony. Kitchen very well equipped. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us and it rained for virtually the whole of our visit. However the Coromandel was still beautiful and we would certainly visit again.

With jaw-dropping views across a serene bay towards distant islands, the Coastal Heights Apartment was the perfect place for our short break in New Zealand. Going to sleep with the sound of waves and waking to birdsong, we could have quite happily stayed at Coastal Heights for much longer. The location is perfect to explore the natural delights of the Coromandel, one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Despite the fact that the kitchen in the apartment is generous and includes every amenity, we chose not to cook (a real break for us!) The quality of local restaurants , considering the size of Tairua, exceeded our expectations. Along with the restaurants, there are some interesting shops in town- the crystal shop "Heaven and Earth" was fascinating.
The apartment was spotless, with every amenity thought of. A great communicator, our delightful host Renee was thoughtful and attentive yet mindful of our privacy. The maps and tourist information in the apartment were very helpful... we appreciated Renee's attention to detail in every respect. The beautiful garden was another unexpected pleasure and little Bella was a sweetie. The walk up to the summit of Paku is a must! Highly Recommended.

My husband booked this place for 2 nights while we were traveling in New Zealand for our honeymoon. First Renee and John (and Bella) were so welcoming and amazingly helpful. We pulled up and they had the USA falg flying in their front yard, welcoming us. Renee had so many books, pamphlets, and information of things to do in the area. Then the view, OH MY GOSH! I don't know if I have seen anything so beautiful.
We had a private room with private bathroom and balcony. It was perfect for us.
Only sad part was we left without saying good bye. Not sure how we missed each other but I asked Bella to say bye to her parents for us, I hope she passed along the message.
Can't wait to go back!

If you're going to stay anywhere in the region, this is the place. While your limited to the room, ensuite and deck, that's all you need to make your stay on Paku Hill, perfect. The view from the deck is worth its weight in gold. You will not find a better host than Renee. While you're staying at her house, you get all the privacy you need. Renee is the tourism queen.. we were loaded with things to see in the area and places to eat. Each recommendation was taken on board and she was spot on. Bella, the Bichon dog may be deaf, but she loved a cuddle. My wife and I even took her for a walk up to the top of Paku Hill.. We wish we could've stayed longer, but the two nights spent were bliss. We were recommended to drive along the coast back to Auckland. We did it and loved it.

stayed here for 3 nights, could easily have stayed for more as there is so much to do in the Coromandel. The apartment had everything you needed, even spades to dig at the hot water beach. Highly recommended,

The owner is nice and helpful. The apartment is tidy, quiet, comfortable and well-equipped. There is one bedroom, one dining room, one bathroom and one kitchen, it is very rare to spend this small amount of money to get an apartment like this.
We stayed there for two nights, each morning I was sitting on the bench in the garden, drinking my coffee, viewing the pacific and hearing the wave sound. If you are going to Tairua and looking for a place to stay, Costal Heights Apartment is your first choice.

We stayed at Coastal Heights for three nights in December 2014. We opted for the self-contained accommodation under the main house and it was lovely. Firstly, the view is spectacular! Sunset, sunrise, morning, afternoon - whenever! It was so tranquil and relaxing to be able to cook out on the deck on the BBQ with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.
The accommodation is spacious and comfortable. Bedroom quite large and bed comfortable. The hosts are lovely, very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Spades are provided with the room to use at the nearby hot water beach. I would definitely go back. It was really so relaxing. There is the local mountain (Mount Paku) that you can also climb just up the back of the accommodation and some local dining options. There is also a convenience store, bottle shop and really great butcher in Tairua.
