Blue Water Motel located on the main road into Tairua just before the town bridge. The owner, Paul was so friendly & welcoming that we instantly booked for 2 nights instead of the one originally planned. Paul provided lots of useful hints and tips on the area - the walk from the hotel arond the bay and up Paku hill is a must - but give yourself 3 hours. We had a wonderful large cabin with the queensized bed, well equiped kitchen & pleanty of space. Blue Water provided spades and towels to go visit the nearby hot water beach. The hot spa pool at the motel was great and they have kayaks for use (if you have time). The restuarants in town were very disapointing - poor choice, quality & speed of service - but the Takeaway place was excellent

Quaint motel nicely updated - with good wireless internet. Very helpful host - gave us a shovel and beach towels for Hot Water Beach, an adaptor for the computer, even helped me get online. Convenient parking right in front of the room. Very clean. Our room was more of a suite: a queen size bed in the bedroom, a bathroom with a shower and then a large room with a small kitchen (full size fridge w/ a carton of milk, shiny stainless steel sink and stove), table and chairs and two twin beds. Plus a nice deck overlooking the estuary. Hot tub, which I did not try. Easy walking paths from the motel across the bridge into town and around the estuary and to the beach. Beautiful beach! I think they even had kayaks to use - which would have been a lot of fun during high tide.…

Booked for 1 night and ended up staying for 3 nights. So much to see and Tairua is the prettiest place on the whole Coromandel Peninsula. The motel's logo is clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation and that is exactly what it provides. The owners go out of their way to be helpful and provide free internet, kayaks, fishing tackle and a big lovable cat called Shadow. Great place to start or end a break in NZ.
