Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a lovely experience at The Hahei B&B! Phil and Sue, the hosts, were great conversationalist and provided both a superior room and an excellent tasty breakfast (with your choices taken into account). We appreciated their dinner recommendations as we had only planned ahead for one dinner. The grounds and pool were quite fine and the walk to the beach was short (and at the end of the street was a really good restaurant, The Church, the one meal we had pre-planned, also highly recommended). Hahei itself was comfortable and not too crowded, with access to the very nice beach and the bus or an hour’s walk to Cathedral Cove. We spent three nights and were very pleased. Highly recommended.

This four-roomed B&B is absolutely stunning, with comfortable and stylish rooms, beautiful gardens, and a pool to relax by. We stayed in the Hibiscus Room which was perfect for relaxing in, within the gardens and next to the pool. Phil & Sue are great hosts, always willing to provide information and advice. The breakfast provided was great as well. Large servings and plenty of variety. The property is located within walking distance to amenities, such as a bar, restaurant, coffee shop, and the beach. I would highly recommend this property.

Phil & Sue just get it!
I’ve travelled the world for many years visiting over 75 countries and staying in more establishments than you can imagine, but this is one of my absolute favourites from around the globe.
From the initial booking interaction with Phil, the whole experience was sublime (Book direct).
The whole facility has a calming effect the minute you walk through the door. It’s super clean, modern and welcoming.
We only stayed one night, but will definitely go back as we didn’t get chance to use the beautiful pool area and we slept so well as it’s super quiet and comfortable.
The breakfast was also incredible and the hosts were what you’d want them to be, friendly, warm and considerate.
Thank you for having us. We wish you a busy summer season, after the last couple of COVID impacted years, but no doubt you’ll be brimming with enquiry as you deserve to be!
Thank you again - James & Ellen x (17th Dec 2022)

Phil and Sue were absolutely fantastic. Their recommendations for activities and places to eat were most helpful and enhanced our vacation to Hahei to make it one of our most enjoyable experiences. Their knowledge of the area and insight were most helpful in determining what we should do.

The room and amenities were first class: clean, like new and well equipped with everything you might need. Breakfast was scrumptious with several different selections to choose from. The location is ideal and convenient to all activities around Hahei. They provided towels and shovels for Hot Beach, towels for our use at The Chums beach.

We strongly recommend Hahei Bed and Breakfast and will stay here again upon our return.

We hd a lovely couple of nights at this very welcoming B&B. Our hosts Sue and Phil made us feel very at home and our room overlooking the garden was spacious and very well furnished. Access to tea and coffee making facilities was a bonus and it was great have the balcony space to use. The beach was just a short walk away and a good local store for groceries and places to eat.

Breakfast was perfect and my gluten free requirement as a coeliac was perfectly accommodated. This was much appreciated.

We did a kayak trip from Hahei beach which was great fun and got us to see Cathedral Cove. We also had a hiking nature tour one day with a local guide who was also excellent. Lots to do but also a great B&B to unwind and relax.

Would very highly recommend

We had a wonderful couple of days at Hahei B&B. Not even the weather could spoil it for us. Phil and Sue are fantastic hosts. So welcoming and helpful. Full of knowledge about the area and happy to share. We stayed in the Hibiscus room which overlooked the garden. So tranquil. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious with an abundance of food 😋 Phil kept us updated on the road situation as there was still quite a few landslips due to the rain
We would love to return someday and would highly recommend a stay there

A big shout out also to the guys who work so hard to keep the roads open. They're absolutely amazing. It's thanks to them that we were able to access this beautiful part of North Island

During the 40 days we've been in New Zealand we've stayed in over 20 places, almost all have been great but our three nights at Hahei B&B have been exceptional. From the moment you arrive to the moment you depart Sue and Phil go to extraordinary lengths to make your stay as comfortable and stress free as possible. The room was tastefully furnished and well equipped, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spotless with high end appliances and the breakfasts were wonderful. Their advice about where to eat, where to visit and when was invaluable and they were as interested in what you'd done each day as they were in giving you advice. The provision of beach/pool towels was welcome (as were the spades for digging your pool at Hot Water Beach!) and the pool was a tranquil retreat at the end of a busy day.

In summary, Hahei B&B is run by two people who obviously enjoy running a B&B and want their guests to have the best possible experience of their corner of North Island and I can’t recommend it too highly.
PS sorry there aren’t any photos - we were having such a great time that taking photos was the last thing on our minds!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this B&B. Exquisitely clean and comfortable with amazing hospitality by Sue & Phil. Phil’s breakfasts were incredible and they gave us great tips for local sightseeing. Great location to base yourself to explore the beauty around the Coromandel. We will definitely be back again.

We visited late Feb and stayed in the Hibiscus Room which was roomy and comfortable and had a lovely deck and access to the pool. Great location short walk to the beach, a lovely restaurant and cafes and bar. Phil and Sue were amazing hosts, helpful with local knowledge and served a great breakfast. Enjoyed chatting with other guests who all seemed to be enjoying the accomodation as much as us.
