Property's Favourite Review
We absolutely loved our stay at the Tatahi Beach Resort. Staff were friendly and welcoming with lots of tips about things to do. Room was very clean with a great little backyard area with outside table. Resort was right in the centre of town and close to restaurants and the beach. Hahei was a lovely town!!

Excellent location - a 15 min walk to the carpark area and a further 30 min walk to Cathedral Cove itself. Literally half a minute away from a whole lot of eateries, nice and convenient. There was also free parking where the eateries are that are reserved for guests at the backpackers. I really liked the wooden panels and the homely vibe, especially the lounge and kitchen area with dining tables, window seats and couches to mingle with other travellers. There were some board games available too. The outside patio area was really nice too and it led to the start of the road on the way to Cathedral Cove. The rooms were pretty nice although more power socket outlets and a bed light by each bed would be nice. Bathrooms were nice and private - a separate shower + sink in a room, and a toilet + sink in another room. Really friendly reception staff too.
Note that there are no keys to the rooms as it was apparently safe enough and no lockers for your belongings either if that matters to you.

+1
Can't rate Tatahi Lodge or its location high enough. We're a family of 6 and have never ventured so far North to the Coromandel so we were delighted that this holiday was everything we had hoped for.
The cottage we stayed in was clean and well kept, serviced daily with clean towels, tea towels and toilet rolls. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful, they really made the stay comfortable and enjoyable.
There were boogie boards available to use and other kids games which was so handy and kept the children happy and entertained.
There is a bar next door and an ice-cream parlor, Cafe, gift shop, liquor store and dairy store all super close by. There is also a fine dining restaurant called the Church Bistro just a 10 min walk away and the food is fantastic and they were wonderful with Children too.
Hahei has the most beautiful beach which is a 5 minute walk from the Lodge. The cove felt safe for us to easily manage the Children in the water, with added safety of a lifeguard. The water taxi over to Cathedral Cove is easy to catch and the local boat trips were just amazing.
The main town for supermarkets is Whitianga and that was only 30 min away with a petting zoo on the way out that was pretty rustic and the kids loved it.
We will definitely be back!!

We really loved this place at the beginning, but after the first night, my wife and I were full of bites. There is no AC, so you are forced to leave everything open because of the heat. Well, after the first night we were full of bites. The next day the owner provided 2 liquid-repellent you can plug in the wall and we left them on for the entire day. After the second night we still had some bites, so we added a topic repellant... The second day was very very hot and keeping the windows open didn't help much. This is totally unacceptable, they should install AC to fix both problems, or at least put screens on the windows or if you want to go cheap, at least on the beds.

Choosing to stay in this place has won me lots of praises from my family. We booked a two bedroom and was given a free upgrade to the villa, and what an upgrade! The place was modern, bright, warm, and had everything you would want for a holiday home. We wish we have stayed for longer (instead of going back to Auckland and stayed in a very disappointing hotel near K road - but that's another review).
The hosts were both very friendly and helpful. And the location of the lodge is really unbeatable - you are about 45 seconds walk away from the ice cream store in town, which also sells fish and chips. The general store is another 1 minute walk away. And the cafe is between the ice cream shop and the general store. And the best restaurant (the Pour House) is just by the ice cream store. It's 5 minutes walk to the beautiful Hahei beach. You could choose to walk to Cathedral Cove from the beach, or you could walk straight uphill from the lodge (we took one way there and the other way back). The trip took us about 2 hours in total and was a lovely hike.
It's also just 10 minute drive from the hot water beach, the star attraction of the area.
So its location is simply unbeatable.

Me and my husband stayed at a Garden Studio room for 2 nights. The room was vibrant, cozy, and we felt so much relaxed walking in and seeing the room after a long trip. The place is a minute or two walking distance from the cafes, convenience store, liquor store, ice cream shop(serves chips, burgers and pizza as well), so we had everything we needed during our stay, it was like a small little village 😄 Hahei Beach was a 5-min walk so we can just go there anytime we feel like it. We will surely be back!

I stayed in the backpackers part of the lodge, and loved it! The staff was lovely and helpful, particularly Glenn who gave me wonderful recommandations and made me feel right at home - thanks again Glenn! The beds are comfy and the rooms well taken care of. The kitchen has everything you would need (including a huge freezer) and the common area feels very homey. Ideally located right next to the only few shops Hahei has to offer, and a few minutes from the beach, from which you can access the Cathedral Cove trail. Only real downside, the price for a dorm bed is a bit steep compared to other beach towns in NZ.. On a side note; do not miss out on Hahei Beach itself, it is often overlooked by visitors but absolutely stunning!

Our garden room was very comfortable and warm and provided everything we wanted - even a little reading nook! We appreciated the use of the washing machine and clothesline (dryer available too). The hosts were welcoming, friendly, helpful and available. Tatahi Lodge is excellently located beside Hahei's cluster of shops and eateries and the beach. The burgers were great at the icecream shop and we loved the coffee and breakfast bagels in the winter's sun at The little blue kitchen. The beach and coastal scenery is unbelievably beautiful. We walked to Cathedral Cove and also Pa Head from Tatahi Lodge - highly recommend both walks . We went on a 3 hour kayaking tour with Cathedral Cove Kayaks - fantastic! Barista made coffee on the beach for morning tea, made by our guide Hayden. Worth doing even for a novice, non swimmer like me, in the middle of winter ! It won't disappoint! We finally used the car for the short trip to Hot water Beach and the hot springs in the sand there and also for the short trip to Cooks Beach (walks there too) and to catch the ferry to the more populous Whitianga. We loved Hahei and we would love to return. We recommend Tatahi Lodge and we would definitely stay there again.

We spent two nights here in a two bedroom unit in March2020. The friendly staff got us settled in and told us where to find places to eat, local highlights, etc. The lodge is centrally located behind the small shopping area and has easy access and adequate parking for guests. The unit was comfortable and has most of the facilities you would need. Hahei is a small villiage with road access to the delights of the Coramandel. My only advice is to avoid Route 309 if you are not happy driving on narrow winding dirt roads.

Really enjoyed my stay in Tatahi Lodge, perfect location 5 Min from the beach and in the city center. Beautiful place, very clean and well organized. Stayed at the Backpackers Lodge, Comfy bedroom, feeling like home with the advantage of meeting new people easily in the common living room & kitchen. Loved the welcoming touch: towels and flower on the bed on arrival! Warm welcome from the staff, who are helpful in advising things to do and see around. Loved it !
