Travellers' Choice
Leave the city behind and stay on the beachfront in Hahei - regularly voted one of the best beaches in The Coromandel and New Zealand. There's plenty of adventure with Cathedral Cove and Te Whanganui A Hei Marine Reserve on our doorstep. With over 7 hectares of award-winning grounds there’s space for everyone to find a pathway to the beach. The Seaview Villas look directly over Hahei Beach with ever-changing views of the Mercury Bay Islands from sunrise to sunset. The Beachfront Bachs are ideal for friends and family - stay together or book neighboring baches so everyone can have their space. The nostalgic cabins are great value for family getaways, all less than a minute walk to Hahei Beach! We have Allpress barista-made coffee available onsite every day. From November to Easter weekend, the onsite outdoor bar, gourmet burgers and woodfired pizzas are open on weekends and additional hours in peak summer times - check on our social media pages for the opening hours. The hot tubs on the dunes are always a favourite, check fees and availability to book your spot when you get here. The Resort is walking distance to Cathedral Cove, so put the car keys away and avoid the parking hassle. The Hahei Village with a general store, craft brewery, and cafes is a short stroll. Hot Water Beach is 10 minutes drive. Come and relax on the beachfront with friends and family - the pristine Coromandel coast and marine reserve are the ultimate natural playground.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Must have been unlucky with the timing of our stay as the site was swarmed by 2 groups of college students. This made our stay intimidating particularly in communal areas as in view of the mixed weather large groups had congregated in the kitchen area lounging on bench surfaces. Early/mid evening after dark, mixed groups were running around the park in between Sites with electric cables attached to vehicles with torches screaming and shouting - a call to out of hour’s Security appeared to make little difference to the situation! We were attracted to stay by some great reviews, however we checked out after one night as another large group of Students were due to be checked in - just a warning to fellow Site Users if there are large groups of Students on site - it would have been helpful to be advised of this by site staff in advance, particularly as the nightly cost is 50% higher than the local Top 10 accommodation. A partial refund was given where I believe a full 100% would have been more appropriate.

Property's Favourite Review
We had a two night stay at one of the garden terrace villas. The facilities provided were excellent, very clean and tidy. Although our stay was in May we enjoyed strolling along the beach, watching the waves crashing in. We would definitely book here again when we next visit New Zealand.

Such an amazing place for families. Right on the beach. Little mini kitchens and toilets throughout the campsite so you don't have to walk for ages to get to the main facilities. On-site coffee / bar and pizza / burger eateries are amazing. Open fireplace cool too. The kids playground could do with a slight upgrade /it's a tad small tired. Roads throughout the campsite have a few pot holes but overall such a great spot! We'll definitely be back.

I've been to worst campsites but I've definitely been to better. To kick things off a lot of mucking about with booking, requires $ up front and refund policy is very tight. Kitchen facilities and bathroom facilities run down. Cold water for every shower. Mouse running through shower at one point. Loud bike allowed to joy ride around the campsite. People set up next to us with campervan at 10pm at night. Easter egg hunt with no eggs to collect. On the plus great location next to beach. If the location wasn't so good I wouldn't choose to go back again, especially at the rate they charge.

The most amazing views of sunrise and sunset on a very beautiful beach. Resort is clean and quiet and close to Cathedral Cove and Hot Water beach. Facilities are nice with plenty of hot water and all the amenities. We will definitely stay here again next time.

Fantastic location. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. We love launching our kayaks in the river behind and paddling down stream to the beach. Kids spend hours eeling in this river climbing and hanging off the large pohutakawa trees. The on-site coffee, food and drinks are tasty and convenient. Staff always had a smile and fun conversations 😊 We have been camping here for the last 5 years and look forward to returning in 2025.

One of the best-run camps we’ve stayed at. Despite its large size and popularity, the clever design means it never feels like it is “heaving” or squashed in. Large site size fitted our 3-room tent, large shelter and two vehicles. Kitchenettes and smaller toilet blocks scattered around the camp meant we never had far to go for facilities and there was always room. No issues with late night noise. Everyone respectfully reined it in by 10pm or earlier. Believe the hype about the location and beach - STUNNING! The hot tub is worth queuing before reception opens to get a booking same day! Staff super helpful. Unbeatable location. An absolute winner. Price for sites was a fair reflection of what they offered - ie you definitely get what you pay for. We’ll be back.

We took our students to Hahei for a beach camp. We stayed at the Hahei Beach Resort and the facilities were fantastic. We had the family costal kitchen room and it was great for all of our cooking needs. The students stayed in cabins and they were very warm and clean. The communal bathrooms were always clean and the hot water in the showers was fantastic. The staff are extremely friendly and really helpful when needed. I would recommend this for a family, solo or group stay.

Stayed on a powered site, not very busy despite being next to beach. Great location and amenities. Slightly more pricey compared to other campsites stayed at in NZ. Walking distance to town. Went on boat tour from beach, which was excellent.
