I think everybody is doing their best and don’t wish to write a laundry list of grievances/missed expectations. It is a beautiful building and amazing location. I think it was just a very busy weekend when I visited and things fell through the cracks and people were overwhelmed. I am sure this hotel has a bright future. As an interior designer, I thought the decor was extremely tasteful and well played- I am interested to see what it’s like when there is some artwork or other touches!
We had a 4 night stay and thought the hotel was awesome. We were upgraded to a Deluxe view. The hotel has a very historic feel and the staff are all top notch. The rooms were quiet, AC worked great, food was good in the restaurant and valet was pretty quick. This would be our first choice if visiting downtown Atlanta again. It’s not really a hotel issue, but at night the park next to the hotel is pretty sketchy so I’d suggest taking another route when walking back to the hotel. The aquarium and world of Coke are within easy walking distance (less than a mile).
I absolutely enjoyed my stay here! The service was impeccable. From check in to check out. The attentiveness and attention to detail of Mr. Jerome Smith, Essa and the night manager was unmeasured. The hotel is at the top of my list for downtown Atlanta. Looking forward to the next tri.
The room was large and pretty comfortable for a nice hotel. However, there were several problems: - There is a Nespresso-style espresso maker, but on the first day there were no espresso capsules. The second day there were capsules but no decaf. There were tea bags but no way to heat water other than to try putting a small cup under the espresso maker and filling it with 1.5-oz shots of hot water (after rinsing out the coffee residue). - The bathroom was huge but had not a single place to hang a towel. So, for example, when taking a shower you have to leave it on the floor or on the counter on the other side of the (huge) bathroom. - The interior lighting was lacking. There aren't enough lights to begin with. Then one wasn't plugged in (and had no easily accessible outlet), and another didn't work. The main lights in the living room are the kind that are used to illuminate artwork in museums (they cast light straight down the wall, not into the room). ??? - There is no real desk. The closest approximation is a table put next to a couch, but the couch is too low to work comfortably. - Room service ends at 10 PM. Otherwise it was OK.…
The food? Delicious. I barely ventured off property to eat. The vibe? Boutique luxury. The service? So good I was compelled to collect the names of these over-achievers. A member of the valet staff, Mr. Momodou, greeted me warmly and graciously offered to bring my bags up to my first room, then helped again to move my bags to my upgraded room :-). Ms. Shakay, server in the “By George” restaurant, was so attentive and professional (really sweet, too). Mr. Jerome, Bell staff manager, was awesome! He’s an easy, natural conversationalist and was so generous to send wine and cheese to my room following a nice chat on my way out earlier in the day. It’s clear that management is getting it right (Mr. Renford Parkes). 10/10 would recommend.
