Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you are short on money and are in Anchorage, don't think you are saving yourself any money by staying at The Mush Inn. You would be better off sleeping in your vehicle. These are the filthiest rooms I have ever seen, not only the carpet in the room, everything is filthy.

Absolute horror! Dirty smelly carpet; windows, door locks, cabinets don't work. Everything seems to be falling apart. No wonder we were the only guests there. Never seen a dump like this in my life! But the receptionsts are very friendly and ready to help.

My family and I always look for budget accommodations whenever we go on vacation, but this was one occasion where we would've rather paid more money for some relative comfort. Now we're not the kind of family that needs a 4-star hotel, although it's nice if you can afford it. We just want a clean place to sleep at night and not have to worry that something is going to crawl into bed with you while you sleep. The room was dark, dingy, dirty and had a musty smell. We stayed in 2 different rooms the 1st and last night of our weeklong trip to Alaska. One of the beds in the first room was in such bad shape, it was lopsided, and I could feel each spring. Neither of the lights over the sinks in either room worked so we basically brushed our teeth in relative darkness, aside from the light from the bathroom. The carpets were grimy with holes in certain areas. The cheap wooden bathroom door in the first room actually had a hole like someone punched it. There was no point in having the kitchenette because they don't provide anything, not even a pot so you can cook water in. Even if they did, we wouldn't want to use it. I could go on and on about all the other problems we had, but I won't since it will take too long. It's a shame I have to write such a bad review for this place because everyone that worked at Mush Inn were polite and friendly, but the motel is long overdue for a renovation.

We had reservations with a Conf# to stay at the Mush Inn for our 22nd Anniversary. They had the nerve to call us back, and tell me they would not rent to us. We are still dumb founded that this GOD FORSAKEN place would not rent a room to a military couple. When I asked them WHY all the guy on the phone could say was, "WE WERE TO PICKEY". I had very legitimate reasons to ask them about their jaquzzi, bed, and if they had a dvd player in the room, or if I could bring ours. Anyway, this is what you call AN UNANSWERED PRAYER for us. After they cancelled the room I came here to read the reviews about the "Mush Inn", and all I can say is ," THANK YOU, THANK YOU , THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER TO ALL OF YOU THAT TOOK TIME TO TELL US WHAT AN AWFUL PLACE THIS IS. We are now going to spend our Anniversary in a private vacation rental that is a very beautiful place. I asked them the same questions I did the Mush Inn, and they were very happy to answer my questions , and basically said they would do what ever we needed to make our trip special.
MY SUGGESTION IS "STAY AWAY FROM THE MUSH INN AT ALL COSTS", AND ALWAYS READ THE REVIEWS HERE OF THE PLACES YOU ARE CONTEMPLATING STAYING. I am looking very forward to posting a positive review of the place we are lucky enough to be able to have found. Again, thank you so much to those of you who took time to write reviews that would steer us clear of the Mush Inn,and make us feel blessed we were CANCELLED. HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE DAY.

The room that Mush Inn management placed us in was not fit for an animal to inhabit. The ceilings had holes in them. The heating source was taped together with duct tape and appeared to have caught on fire in the past. The room was dirty with mold in the shower, a brown substance in the mini refrigerator and black hairs all over the beds. The lamp was broken with the bulb and wires hanging over the lighting fixture. The windows had no screens and would barely open to allow air to flow in our room, which smelled of stale whisky and cigarettes, and this was supposedly a non-smoking room.
The room condition was so bad that I slept on a towel on the bed. We only slept a couple hours and left for our final destination: a fishing cabin that was a palace compared to the Mush Inn.

It was August 2007. I wanted to extend my visit in Alaska for another week after taking my friend to the airport in the evening. It was getting dark. I was debating whether to push for Wasilla or stay in Alaska that night. I was tired, then saw the sign Mush Inn. I booked a room for one night without checking. I just made the biggest mistake in my life. The smell, mildew, holes in the ceiling, curtains do not close, stains everywhere on the carpet, broken window. It was late and I am not familiar with the city. I should have left! How could such a place exist in beautiful Alaska? I hope the Mayor of Anchorage or Govenor Sarah Palin read all the reviews of Mush Inn. It was a nightmare. Please, consider all the reviews about this motel and stay away! Usually, I am not hard to please, but this one is beyond my imagination. Mush Inn does not even deserve one star! Too bad I did not take any picture of the place.

Please please understand this is not a place worth renting. I have a family of 6 and when we went to get our food from the store and came back to the room and sat down and ate, a ton of cockroaches came from everywhere! We had to constantly keep an eye of my kids cups to make sure no baby cockroaches crawled into it. There is a much much better hotel. Anchorage Suites, $100. A night, the owner is kind. They have a full size fridge in the room and microwave and everything! You can really tell they care about the ones renting the rooms! MUSHINN didn't even have soap in the room! Huge nightmare!i am one afraid of bugs and that was traumatizing!

To whom it may concern.
My wife and I had a life long family dawg, and this was the was the fastest place that had an opening(No Joke)that would take pets.
We HAD to stay there because we ran out of money for a "Nice" Motel.
Ohh,and as far as the Room Servive goes??.....save the APD(Anchorage Police Department)a lot of time and paperwork and do it yourself.
The local restaurant across the parking lot (Peggy's)was the only bright spot to our day.
We still go back there even after all these years.
IF you must stay there....bring LOTS of Lysol,Clorex, and other disinfectants.
Ohh,and ladies?? Make sure you have a lot of toliet seat covers.
Would I/we recommend this "lovely" establishment to ANYONE???
Helll Noooo.
Like I said,IF you HAVE TO,and Have No other choice it is a room, and a bathroom.

Program I booked through rated this motel as 3 stars. Ain't no way this place deserves a star. The shower did not work. The room had a moldy smell. It was OK at best for a one night overnite before I went to the Kenai for a fishing trip. However it was not the lowest price I found, just convenient for my transportation.
The place actually is used as apartments by some folks in the area. It has stove, small fridge and restroom. Rooms are oversized but that is the only feature I would say was good.
Nothing to recommend it for the $90.00 a night it cost.
I would not pay over $25.00 for this accomodation in the lower 48. If I had not known that there were better in Alaska, I might have been scared off from coming back. Heck if I saw this before I saw the rest of Alaska I might have turned around and left.
