If it weren’t for Ballard and the Hotel Ballard, I can’t think of any reason to go to Seattle. This lovely hotel is right in the middle of Ballard Ave. That location makes numerous bars, restaurants and shops all walkable. All of Seattle has serious problems with mental illness, the homeless, and hygiene in general. Ballard isn’t exempt, but it’s less intense.
We had a wonderful stay at the Ballard Hotel. It was the perfect location for our micro-wedding and enjoyed by all. Thank you so much for exemplary service and attention to our families needs and to this special moment in our lives. It was perfect! We would definitely stay here again. Very centrally located in downtown Ballard close to shops, Nordic Museum, Ballard Locks and many great cafes, boutiques and the farmers market. We had a wonderful time and a memorable stay. Thank you!
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and we LOVED it!
At first the hotel was all booked up for our date, so we added our name to the waitlist, and got a call several days before our desired stay time that they had an opening! We jumped on it, and the woman I talked to on the phone was so nice, and helpful while booking us.
I mentioned offhand on the phone during the booking process that it was our anniversary, and that was why we were staying there, so the staff surprised us with a signed card, a box of delicious chocolates, and a bottle of champagne on ice! It was so thoughtful, and very sweet that they took note of that, and gave us such a warm and welcoming gift!
Check-in was fast, friendly, and efficient! Everyone we encountered and talked to on staff was so nice, and helpful.
We stayed in a standard king room with a balcony overlooking the street. The room was modern, clean, and big. We had plenty of space for both of us not only in the room, but in the bathroom. Cramped bedrooms/bathrooms are the worst when two people are trying to get ready. But we both had lots of space to move around the get ready to go out for the evening, and to get ready for bed.
The bed was comfy, and the room was quiet during the night, which was awesome because we were on the second floor street-side. I wasn’t disturbed by any street noise, and I slept like a champ. Also, the room stayed super dark into the early afternoon hours. I hate when hotel curtains don’t block out light. The curtains here were great! (Seems like a trivial thing until you have a toddler waking up at all hours of the night and day, and get one anniversary night away at a hotel to sleep in!)
We ordered room service breakfast for the next morning. It’s delivered from a cafe nearby. It was an easy process, priced well, and tasted great!
I absolutely loved our stay here! It was a fantastic experience, and I’d definitely book a room here again in the future!
This was our first stay at Hotel Ballard as our son and his new wife live in the neighborhood.
This hotel is wonderful. Fabulous decor, comfortable beds, excellent amenities and a top notch staff. Molton Brown products, Umbria coffee and Rishi tea in room, and soft robes. We did not take advantage of the gym but it looks amazing, complete with chandeliers and a pool no less, and was never crowded. The adjacent restaurant, StoneBurner does not open until three but was a great happy hour option on a somewhat drizzly evening. There is cozy fireplace in the lobby along with coffee/tea/juice and scones in the morning.
Ballard Street has many delicious dining options of every kind including coffee shops, Hot Cakes for molten cakes, and Sugar and Salt ice cream. Wonderful boutique shopping as well. The Sunday Farmers Market is a must.
This hotel is so close to a 5 but the lack of full room service keeps me at a 4. Stay here. You will not be disappointed.
We stayed here in July for a wedding. Our wedding was at the Admiral House (beautiful location by the way) --but we found out after we had booked our room that the area on the top floor where we staying was also the location for another wedding. We weren't around for that--but if we had been it might have been disruptive, b/c the ceremony/party area is right across from the rooms. No view to the room--it has a small courtyard that is in back of the room that hosts luncheons, gatherings and weddings. A fireplace area on the top courtyard area was nice--but uncomfortable seating.
The room was nice, but a bit dark. There is a nice skylight and huge tub in a large bathroom, but the sitting area and bedroom were both pretty dark. Fireplace in the sitting area with TV, couch and chair to chill, read, host guests, etc. Nice comfortable bed. it was quiet for us--relatives who stayed on lower floors did get some street noise.
Coffee , pastries and juices in check in area for breakfast and fruit and flavored water in afternoon. You have complimentary access to the Athletic Club next door--with workout area, multiple classes from spinning, weight training to yoga and stretching, and 2 pools. The lap pool was kept at a cool temperature---great for swimming. Pretty friendly crew in the pool area; not so much in the spin classes. but this was a real bonus for me staying here for 4 days.
Front desk personnel adequate. Not super helpful, especially with parking. You CAN park in the underground area, but it is pretty small, a little dicey and not recommended if you have a car the size of a suburban. They also have another lot a few blocks away, but one of the front desk men told us that it is occasionally locked. We lucked out getting parking on the street that wasn't metered for the last two days.
Would I stay here again? Yes--but only because of the Athletic club attraction.

Yes, it was a reasonable drive to the cruise port. We used uber from the hotel to get to the cruise port. The hotel staff was very helpful in setting us up with uber too! We were surprised that there were several couples also going on our cruise staying at The Ballard. Even ran into folks who just checked in after their cruise and got the "must do" list from them. If I ever cruise in or out of Seattle, this will be the first place I would try to stay at.
