A few short blocks from Westlake light rail station, the monorail, Pike Place market (incl. the original Starbucks and Gum wall) and a comfortable walking distance from the Space Needle this hotel couldn’t be more centrally located. Amazon’s HQ too is just two blocks over and sports one of those magical cashier-less convenience stores which is a sight in itself. Even Pioneer Square at the other end of the city is not a horribly long walk.
The hotel has a good selection of breakfast options downstairs at their cafe. The breakfast sandwich was standout and a limited, but rather glamorous continental buffet was also both tasty and affordable.
The rooms are spacious, fresh and well appointed. The AC is good, but appears to switch off every once in a while which is probably an eco option.
The staff was among the nicest I’ve ever come across. Friendly, helpful and even able to predict needs so that everything felt like a breeze. They really made my stay.
The bed was great too. It struck just the right balance between soft and firm, and was ample in size. Hotel beds are usually at least decent, but this was almost as good as my own bed at home.
Getting to the hotel from the airport was easy. Taking the light rail #1 cost 3 dollars and brought me to Westlake station smack in the middle of the city. From there the hotel was about 4 short blocks.
I stayed here for business, which apparently a fair number of Amazon visitors also do, but I would happily also stay here for a vacation seeing the city sights.
Space needle is close, but for the iconic view head over to Kerry Park on a bus (the stop is a block away from the hotel). Also the waterfront is within an easy walking distance as are ferries to Bainbridge Island. Check out the Titanic exhibition too even if it doesn’t really have anything to do with Seattle the real artifacts are mesmerizing.
I would definitely come back.

This hotel is a gem! The employees are super nice and always willing to help when needed. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms nice, large walk in shower, great water pressure (important). Shout out to Leia at the front desk, super nice and super helpful when we needed to book a car service to the cruise port. Nice terrace for hotel guests on 7th floor with a view of the space needle. Restaurant on site was very good, we had breakfast there before we headed out for the day. I highly recommend when looking for a hotel the night before a cruise! Side note, great little coffee bar directly across the street if you are looking for a quick coffee.

Stayed for 4 nights at this fantastic hotel located 10-15 mins walk to Pike Place Markets.
Check in was super smmoth and though we were early the check-in team was able to give us an early check-in at 9am at no cost. We were given Room 517 which was facing the main street yet with fantastic sound proofing.
The rooftop bar is great for views over the city and the bay.
Would recommend.

I was nicely surprised to find this hotel. There are many hotels in the area (as everything is very close to Amazon offices and the HQ), but this one was unfamiliar, and I was glad I chose it. Everything was new and clean, I was happy with the temperature in the room and soundproofing (not too hot or cold, not too loud). I wasn’t at the top floor, so didn’t have a fancy view, but it was still all right, I was really happy with the room.
The breakfast was amazing, always fresh and tasty, however during weekdays it was super-busy at a typical breakfast time when people were getting ready for work. I was also happy with the drinks at the bar and a very friendly staff.

I stayed at The Sound using HHonors points over Mother’s Day weekend while visiting son. Because of my Diamond status, I was upgraded to a huge suite. The check in went easily. My room was huge, with a dinette table in one corner with views to the north of the Space Needle and east over the Amazon campus. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a large closet and a coffee/refrigerator station. The bathroom was gigantic with a double sink and lovely walk in shower (in fact, my son dropped by to use it). I slept very well.
We got take out from the on-site restaurant for breakfast on Mother’s Day. My Diamond status entitled me to $15/day room credit, which paid for 2/3 of the breakfast. There was a bit of a wait to order. It was ready in adequate timing, and we waited in the coffee lounge. Then we took it up to the room and enjoyed eating at the cute little table.
The hotel was well situated for our needs - near son’s apartment and Top Pot; also close to the Amazon garages where my son could park as an employee. We didn’t really walk anywhere from the hotel, but based on one previous stay (during 2019 Seafair; prime location for the parade) it is walkable to restaurants and other attractions, including both both Seattle Center and Pike Place Market. There was a friendly and helpful doorman on duty, and a key card was needed to operate the elevator. So good security.
The staff was friendly and polite, and I got texted each day to make sure everything was ok.
Only a few minor glitches: (1)one sink stopper jammed closed but I had another sink so was ok (2) couldn’t get hair dryer to work but I had my own (3) restaurant ran out of cream while we were waiting for our breakfast order and (4) trying to get a boarding pass printed defeated both the front desk and my techie son. Way too complicated so I did it at the airport.
Overall I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed in the king room (928) with our service dog. They accomodated us, although the room was quite small, the hvac system was really loud and the luvres from the vent fan rattled.
Within the first 30 minutes of checking in we called the front desk and they wanted to send up a maintenance person to see if they could fix it rather than changing rooms. Front desk was very adamant that maintenance had to look at it before a room change would even be considered. I saw a maintenance guy randomly in the hallway and told him what it was and he said he would most likely not be able to do anything, except order a new vent. I told front desk and she still insisted that one would have to come up into our room.
I just turned off the HVAC, problem solved, called front desk told them not to worry about it, we don’t want to change rooms at this point and please don’t send anyone up.
They sent us chocolates with an apology letter. I feel this entire situ could have been much smoother and dealt with much quicker. Did not feel the love from front desk at all.
Would not come back here, with so many hotels in Seattle, and being an hour and a half drive from home I will search a little harder next time for a hotel that has been around longer than this one.

Thank you for the feedback LukasnCher and for choosing to stay with us. I apologize we didn't take care of you better or communicate more professionally. We should have allowed you to change rooms immediately if 928 was not to your satisfaction, regardless of the reason. I hope the remainder of your time in Seattle was pleasant and that you might give us another chance in the future.

I've traveled to Seattle the past 25 years for my company staying at most to all of the Hilton properties in and around the Seattle area. The Sound Hotel exceeds where I've seen other locations begin to fail. Quality matters and that starts with the people and while you stay at the Sound, you will notice that with everyone you interact with, but there was no better example of that than Gustav. When you stay somewhere it's nice to know that someone truly cares about the quality of your stay. Other Hilton locations could use their own Gustav. Thank you for a great stay and I look forward to my next visit.

Location: Depends on where you want to go, but being in Belltown, The Sound is fairly central, and about a 10-15min walk from places like the Space Needle, Pike Place, etc, while also having plenty of dining options in the immediate area as well.
Cleanliness: One of the cleaner hotels I've stayed at, with nothing egregious, and just the usual lack of dusting in uncommon areas (like inside drawers).
Service: Front desk and housekeeping were all very friendly and willing to help out as much as they could, especially with some of the complications we ran in to (like our reservation going down from two beds to one due to a move to an accessible room).
Amenities: You get your usual toiletries, free wifi, and some free water. The hotel comes with a lot of your standard features like a gym, but also has some lounges pretty high up that are a nice place to chill while also getting a view!
Beds: Easily the worst part of my stay, and the only reason this isn't a 4 star review. Their beds were so uncomfortable to sleep on that I did not get a single good night's rest during my stay, waking up with aches every morning. While the plush pillowtop comfort layer and firmer support layer feel deceptively comfortable at first, I found the bed lacking support when I actually tried to sleep as a side sleeper, but of course, YMMV.
Accessibility: Stayed in an accessible room with roll-in shower. The hotel itself was easy to get around, and the room and bathroom was spacious enough to maneuver through. As is becoming increasingly common at hotels I've stayed at, their shower toiletries are mounted on the wall, but in a location that makes them awkward to use when you're seated on a shower bench.

I've stayed in a number of Seattle hotels and this one doesn't merit being the #3 hotel in Seattle, but it's definitely clean and quiet. Several things that diminished my experience:
1. When we arrived the valet made zero effort to help with our luggage. I grabbed the luggage cart myself as the valet and front desk staff just inside the door watched us struggle with loading the cart and trying to get through the double doors inside. One front desk person was not behind the desk and just watched us. Valet was quick to bring our car each time but otherwise never once opened or closed a car door.
2. You communicate with the front desk via text, which I did find to be efficient. However, several times I asked for extra sets of towels (specifically extra hand and wash cloths), and while the towels were delivered, they never brought the right thing.
3. Our AC unit cycled off and on every minute the first night we were there, which was super annoying. The front desk sent maintenance to fix, but the issue continued to occur. Until the final night, when the system stopped coming on at all and the room was too warm despite the thermostat reading 67.
The King suite was fairly good sized but the furniture was uncomfortable. The bathroom was massive but in a cavernous way. As someone else mentioned, the sink faucets are far too close to the edge of the sink, meaning each time you wash your hands you're running water on to the countertops. Vanity needs a towel bar to hang the hand towels so they aren't sopping wet from constant covid hand washing. The 7th floor that everyone gushes about is merely ok and could use some kind of bar service. Valet parking is typical for downtown, $46 or $56 per night I believe, bringing the nightly room rate to over $300.
I recommend the Hyatt Regency nearby for a nicer stay. And if you want exceptional service, The Lotte. The Sound Hotel is adequate but there are honestly better options downtown.

First let me start by saying the hotel itself is beautiful. Very clean, high quality and friendly staff. We stayed 2 nights before our Alaskan cruise in a King w/View room which was a large, corner room with a fantastic view of the Space Needle, definitely worth the extra price. We ate and drank at the restaurant/bar downstairs which was lovely. However, I would be remiss if I didn't warn about the area. My husband and I are big-city people (having lived and worked in NYC) so we are used to the cautions that come with walking around. We walked 4th Ave to the Space Needle but accidentally walked 2nd Ave on the way from the Needle to Pike Place Market. Luckily we stopped in a beautiful bar and asked the bartender for specific directions. He told us to walk only one more block on 2nd but then cut over to 1st Ave since it was safer (this was mid-afternoon). We have since learned that certain blocks of 2nd Ave in Belltown are very shady. Since we witnessed some strange behaviors upon leaving the bar, we just decided to sacrifice Pike Place Market and head back to the hotel. Even on 4th there were strange characters doing strange things. Just have caution when walking around and be sure to be aware of your surroundings and look over your shoulder. Be sure to ask the hotel staff which are the best and safest areas/streets to walk. We recommend Uber or taxi at night if you are going more than a couple blocks away. The immediate area of the hotel has cute restaurants (Serious Pie, right across the street, was fabulous). And, again, the hotel restaurant/bar itself was very good. The benefit of the hotel is that it is very close to the seaport and the valet staff will quickly help arrange a taxi if you need.

We used Uber to & from Seatac with no problems.
I recommend calling the hotel regarding an early check-in. If you can't check in early, ask if they are able to store your luggage behind the desk so you can sightsee while you wait for your room to be ready.
There are more places to choose from in the Seattle area.
