This beautiful Craftsman has been turned into a welcoming space with spacious guest rooms, suitable for a long stay. We were there for ten days and enjoyed our stay, and if you like staying in places with character, you probably will too.
Rooms have wardrobes and chests of drawers, and we were able to fully unpack our suitcases and had room to stow them. As is often the case in repurposed old homes, bathrooms have showers only and are on the small side.
In the dining room, there is coffee and tea service, several flavors of yogurt, and other snacks for a light breakfast, and Bakery Nouveau that is a few blocks away makes splendid pastries. We enjoyed starting the day in the bright, prettily decorated dining room.
Those arriving by car should know that there is no on-site parking, and you may have to unload and park a few blocks away. The hotel issues parking passes that allow you to ignore the restricted times, and if you have a standard size vehicle you probably will have no problem. We had a full-size SUV but still had no problem except for one evening, when I had to look for a while. The neighborhood is generally quiet but has restaurants and eclectic shopping within a few blocks, and public transit goes direct from Downtown and the ferry terminal to a nearby bus stop. I'm not going to bother to rent a car next time, since this is a transit-friendly city and I would have saved money by using Lyft.
Those with allergies should know that there is a resident cat - we never saw him above the first floor or in any guest rooms, though.
All in all, our stay was very good and we will return.

Stayed here with my boyfriend for 2 nights at the end of a 2 week visit to the USA. This was my first visit to the gaslight and my boyfriend had visited before so we were excited to stay together.
Firstly, this is a absolutely stunning home. The building is beautiful and the area it is in is great. Plenty of bars and restaurants close by as well as a large supermarket.
Location wise you’re about a 10 min walk to the nearest subway station but you can also walk downtown in no time at all (and I would recommend you do as you’ll see some amazing local businesses on the way)
The gaslight is very well known in the local community and I can see why, it really is a beautiful place to stay and is a very accommodating safe space for everyone.
The owners were very friendly and polite and helpful when we needed them, and the housekeeping staff member I met on my final morning also got chatting to me and was very friendly. They obviously love what they do and it shows.
We had a room with a private shower room and semi private balcony. I really liked the room, it was large and had everything you could want (including a mini fridge to chill the all important wine for evenings on the balcony). The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. The air con also worked great and was controlled in the room. The air con was also silent so won’t disturb you if needed on over night like we did.
Really nice feature the tv in the room is a Amazon fire tv and there were plenty of channels/apps available for use if you want that.
Breakfast was served around a large dining table and everyone sat together. I only had breakfast at the table for one of my two mornings at the gaslight as had to pack the final morning but I really enjoyed chatting to the other guests and the owner while enjoying some gorgeous fresh fruit, muffins, croissants, juice and coffee.
I would love to return again and will soon! They also have a large pool for the summer which looked lovely.

We stayed at the Gaslight Inn in 1990 and returned in September 2023; we were not disappointed, as it was still maintained and furnished beautifully. The mattress was comfortable, the towels were fluffy, our room was comfortable and very quiet. Ryan is the perfect host as he was warm and welcoming. We are from the US and we loved that there were so many European guests staying there, and enjoyed chatting with them at breakfast. We enjoyed walking to the Japanese Gardens/Arboretum as well as the Chihuly glass museum. There are wonderful restaurants just a five minute walk away on 15th and took the hosts suggestions and enjoyed Rionne XIII (Italian) and Shop Agora (Greek). Lovely stay.

If you want to stay at an utterly unique bed and breakfast in Seattle, “The Gaslight Inn” is the “ jewel in the crown”! A city awarded landmark status property, this gorgeous craftsman home oozes old world charm and elegance. A lovely outdoor heated swimming pool adds to all it has to offer. Situated in Capitol Hill, it has easy access to a variety of public transport options. Volunteer Park with the Conservatory and Asian Art Museum plus downtown city views is a short walk away. This vast home was so well built that it cushions any noise. We were totally unaware that other guests were staying there until we encountered them in the dining room! The morning starts with a wide selection of delicious breakfast offerings. Meeting other guests from all over the world, or elsewhere in the USA adds to the fun of breakfast encounters and conversations. Our room was fabulous, with a small attached bathroom and a private balcony overlooking the pool. Very comfortable. As for the hosts, Ryan and Joelle, I can only say that they are truly the best and most welcoming couple. Helpful in every way and embracing the true meaning of hospitality. We loved it there and swam daily after lengthy explorations of Seattle. We highly recommend staying at this historic home.

The B&B Gaslight Inn is a beautiful Victorian home offering clean quiet cozy rooms—-a full breakfast in the ornate dining room—-located in the Capital Hill area.
Volunteer Park & fine restaurants are nearby.
The owners are friendly gracious and offer up good suggestions; won’t be hesitant to recommend and will be back.
Thank you Ryan & Joelle,
Jeannie

Be careful with this accommodation, as they sell you free cancellation up to 14 days before your stay, but if you need to cancel, they charge you $35. The hotel only accepts its own policy, even if it is not what is offered on the website. And they do nothing to pull this bad trader out of the deals.

Thanks for the note Bob. Like our confirmation email states, we charge a credit card processing to cover the charges associated with the change in travel with regard to cancellations like yours. We’re a small family owned business that would go out of business if we covered those costs. We make our policy clear in the confirmation email that gets sent to every guest and on our website. Your complaint here actually is with Booking.com, who refuses to charge their all or nothing refund policy. Good luck on your next adventure Team Gaslight

Our daughter chose The Gaslight Inn for us and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. Ryan welcomed us and showed us around the gorgeous historic property with stunning woodwork and details. Our room was spacious, quiet and carefully decorated with a comfortable bed. The shower had permanent bottles of supplies which were easy to use and eco-friendly! We had a luxurious experience with waffle-weave robes, a delicious breakfast, a balcony with view of the pool and Space Needle! The hosts are friendly, gracious, and knowledgeable about the area. We will definitely be back with more family members next time!

This is such a beautiful and comfortable inn. The location is fabulous and great for walking around Capitol Hill, downtown, over to the arboretum, and many other Seattle gems.
The beds and rooms are really soft. I only met one of the owners (Ryan), but he was so caring.

The shared area is fantastic for a book or a chat or doing work, although there is plenty of space in the actual bedrooms.

Everything is really clean.

I didn’t get to have breakfast because of an appointment and then the next day just sleeping too long, but it looked great.

The toiletries they use are fantastic.

I’m kind of weird about my water, and I am not crazy about the taste of Seattle water. So I typically bring a water purifier/filter to hotels. I didn’t need to use it because there are hot and cold water stations in the hallway. I cannot fully explain how delighted this made me.

Anyway, warm, inviting, superb location, excellent tasting water, comfortable bed… I will definitely be back.

We stayed five nights at the Gaslight Inn and it was a real joy. Ryan and Joelle go out of their way to make their home your home too, Our room (101) was comfortable, exceptionally clean and having our own fridge was a nice touch as we enjoyed the odd beer on the communal balcony and by the pool after a day walking the city. Breakfast was really lovely and nice to be able to chat to the other guests around one big table.
The Gaslight Inn has a great location, we walked down to the city and caught a bus or light train back at the end of a day sightseeing. Our hosts were happy to recommend places to go and as well as the main sights we enjoyed a pleasant visit to the Japanese garden and arboretum.

Gaslight Inn was a truly unique experience. The hotel had very individual rooms ( we stayed in two different rooms 4 days apart). The owners Ryan and Noelle were attentive and showed us a very warm welcome. Easy check in/ check out. Great location near restaurants and a Safeway. Just a few minutes walk from Volunteer Park.

Sorry it’s taken ages to respond. There are no tea & coffee making facilities in the room but the owners are really lovely and I am sure they would make a cup for you. There are coffee shops within walking distance though. Hope this helps. It is a lovely place.

Hi folks, Yes our new lightrail leaves the airport often and will bring you to the capitol hill station, 6 blocks from the Inn. We are walking distance to downtown and a major amount of the tourist attractions. We are located on Capital hill, like most of our citie's B&B's because we are the 1st residential neighborhood closest to the downtown core. If you need further information just ask please. Wherever you end up staying please enjoy our beautiful and friendly city! Bennett
