The Thompson Seattle, part of the Hyatt portfolio, garners a mix of feedback. Guests laud the hotel's cleanliness and convenient amenities, with its proximity to Pike Place often highlighted. Many visitors enjoy the romantic rooftop views, though the ambiance is sometimes marred by noisy gatherings. While the service receives acclaim for being friendly, instances of unresponsiveness tarnish its reputation. Room experiences vary, with commendations for comfort yet grievances about size and upkeep. Travelers question the value, citing high costs and additional charges.

We stayed at The Thompson for a 4-day weekend! What a beautiful hotel and the service was phenomenal. The location is fantastic. Near all the waterfront, Pike Public Market. The food in the hotel restaurants was generous and delicious. The beds are so comfortable and the pillows are the best I have ever had at a hotel. I highly recommend this hotel for business and pleasure.

I'm a big fan of Thompson hotels and was looking forward to this stay especially as a Globalist. I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to a corner suite for my one night stay facing the Pike Place Market.
The suite was well appointed with 2 large bathrooms, a long hall way with floor to ceiling windows, a living room with a round dining table in the corner overlooking the street below. The bedroom constituted of a large king size bed with heavenly pillows and a work desk under the tv and a bathroom. Interestingly the powder room near the suite entrance was larger than the bedroom bathroom as the former had both a tub and separate shower stall whereas the bedroom only had a rainfall shower.

Upon check-in I was offered a glass of champagne, water, and a cookie.

Breakfast was included with my status but I had wanted to check out Ludi's just around the corner which I highly recommend this mom and pop stable for their breakfast plates. I did go back to the hotel to take advantage of the included breakfast and have some tea and yogurt with fresh fruits which was fine but nothing remarkable. The fruits could have been more fresh.

Some areas of improvement include only one elevator in service which meant quite the wait time. Fortunately being on the 4th floor I opted to just take the stairs going down. Another disappointment was the fitness center as it was quite small and uninspiring compared to other Thompson hotel gyms. Lastly, I requested some toiletries via the app but after more than an hour of it not being delivered, I had to call the front desk for the items which they then promptly sent up.

Overall the location is excellent for tourists looking to be close to Pike Place and for a one night stay it was fine. With many other Hyatt options nearby I would consider others like the Olive8 which has nicer amenities including steam room, indoor pool, and spa.

From arrival to departure, our experience with the staff and hotel was excellent. Gigi and Peter, who checked us in, were very welcoming and efficient. A nice touch was a complementary glass of champagne and bottles of water. During our six night stay, all of the front desk personnel were very pleasant and professional, addressing any issues we had promptly. Michael, who we saw on several occasions, was especially pleasant and attentive. He and Zachary Gill were able to give us dinner recommendations on a Monday when many restaurants were closed. We were disappointed that the Conversation restaurant at the hotel closed early on Sunday and Monday.

The valet service was very efficient, retrieving our car promptly when needed, and all the staff greeted us with a smile when we left for the day and returned.

The location was only a block from Pike Place Market, and within walking distance of several nice restaurants and points of interest, including the Argosy Ferry and ferry to Bainbridge Island. The hotel was also a few blocks from the Monorail, which takes you to City Center, where the Seattle Space Needle and Chihuly Glass exhibit are, among other places.

The hotel was beautiful and from our eighth floor room, we had a great view of Elliot Bay and Puget Sound. The room was very nice, but the desk chair did not have back support and was not comfortable. It would also have been nice to have a set of drawers in addition to the armoire for folded clothing. The rooftop bar, above the 12th floor, had wonderful views and you could sit inside or outside.

We have never seen elevators that were as clean as the ones here were and the welcoming rugs in them were changed 3 times a day, reflecting morning, afternoon and evening. We met the man who said he took care of the elevators and told him how we appreciated his work.

We had a memorable stay and would not hesitate to return to the Thompson again!

My stay at this hotel was very average, neither outstanding nor terrible. One thing that was not apparent online was that this hotel has a bit of a "split personality" when it comes to its rooms - one corner of the building has a glass facade which represents their nice rooms while the rest (and majority) of their rooms are pretty subpar. If you are not getting a view room, expect to be disappointed with the small room and windows directly facing neighboring condos. Looking back, I would've preferred booking the Hyatt Regency.

Positives:
Good location
Full size shower cleaning products
Comfortable bed

I do have to point out the absolute lack of value that comes with the mandatory destination fee. The hotel website definitely struggles to convince the guest why this fee even exists and lists out some very superficial benefits.

Pros:
The Rooftop Bar has a wonderful view and great staff.
Martha, a waitress in the hotel’s restaurant was excellent.
Cons:
The rooms are very expensive so we expected a room that compared with rooms we had in other high end hotels. Our room was very small and was designated as an ADA room. There was room for a wheelchair to move from one side of the bed to the other and into the bathroom. There was a narrow wardrobe in place of a closet, a desk top and a shelf on each side of the bed. No drawers in the room or the bathroom. We stayed four nights. One day the complimentary water was not provided and the bathroom glasses were not replaced with clean ones. The toilet paper was thin and not soft. We have stayed at Holiday Inns that had better quality towels. We had a partial view of the water and a partial view of the building next door. We were not given the information needed to access the Wi-Fi when we checked in nor were we given or told we could get chocolate chip cookies at the front desk. The concierge, though helpful, was not available every day. The convenience of being close to Pike’s Place Market did not lessen our disappointment with the Thompson Hotel Seattle. We will not stay at this hotel again.

For our first time in Seattle our group wanted to stay close to the touristy parts of the city and Thompson Seattle is in the perfect location for that. Less than a minute walk to pike place market and great restaurant options for everyone with any dietary preference. Only 20 minute walk to the space needle. The hotel is modern but some furniture could use some touch ups. The bathroom door slides to open and close which could use some oil but that is the least of your worries.

The bathroom walls and door do not block any noise (from whatever you may be doing there) 😳. It's a good thing we were all comfortable enough with each other to just laugh about it. Notice: you can also hear your neighbors while you are in the bathroom... however the noise in the bathroom can be forgiven due to it's great convenient location.

So why do I rate this hotel a three? Honestly I could rate this hotel lower for one reason... you CANNOT sleep in this hotel! If you are hard of hearing, partially deaf, or pass out drunk every night the noises probably won't bother you. Unfortunately, no one in our group had that luxury. This hotel took the concept of "Sleepless in Seattle" too literal. Large cities have your normal traffic and siren noises and those types of noises are expected. What is not expected is irregular pounding from 4 to 8 in the morning and loud party music until late in the night from the rooftop bar on the weekends.

At first I thought the pounding was construction but was later informed by Mike at the reception desk that there is no construction happening in the hotel or area. Mike kindly offered to help us move into a different room (since he believe the noise was coming from the gym) when other guest checked out after eleven, but that never happened. The manager Zachary also tried to help us but he was reluctant to move us since "other guest were going to be checking in". He did compensate us with free breakfast and a bottle of wine but only after my friends asked for some type of compensation.

(Before talking to Zachary a very rude receptionist had informed us that we could only move if we paid $700 more to get a suite. Sorry but I'm not paying $1200 a night at a place I already can't sleep at.)

At the end of our stay I learned that this hotel is alway noisy I guess I should have taken the earplugs in the bathroom as a sign. So, if you are fine not be able to sleep or like wearing earplugs to bed you might be fine staying at this hotel. However, for me and my friends this is a mistake we will not repeat.

I hope this review helps those who are torn between the many options available to stay at in Seattle.

Sincerely,
Your guests in room 417.

Scarranza4 - I am terribly sorry to hear your experience was not what we would have hoped. A good night's sleep is a basic requirement of a hotel room and it is disheartening to hear we could not deliver that. You are correct in the city noises being out of our control, however what we could control was listening to your needs and finding a way to relocate you to a quieter location. I am sorry we missed out on this opportunity. Should you decide to give us another try, please feel free to reach out to me directly. I'll ensure you get the quietest room we have for you. We even have suites with two bathrooms that could help to alleviate some of the discomfort experienced by you and your guests. In either case, thank you for this valuable feedback. I appreciate you taking the time to share it.

Room not ready upond check in at 7:00 pm. Rooms are guaranteed to be ready by 4:00. This caused us to miss our dinner reservations planned and forced us to eat at someplace less place less desirable. When you pay the amount of money for accommodations, the expectation is set that your room will be ready at guaranteed time.

Just stayed 2 nights at Water View Studio Suite before the cruise.

1. Location
Great location, very close to Pike Place Market. It's centered location, but area is not that clean and lots of homeless around. Hotel does not have driveway so you'll have to go around to get dropped off.

2. Room
Stayed on top floor (12th) of Water Vies. Actually, it is 1 bedroom (not sure why they said studio) with double door to separate living area and bedroom area. Living area has dining table with 2 chairs, 3 seater sofa, coffee table, mini fridge and TV and full bath with separate tub and shower stall. Bedroom has Eastern King ( or lager, it's very wide, not Cal King) , TV, small table with chair and huge closet, full bath with walk-in shower.
Sofa in living room turned into 1 queen sleeper and my teenager said it was comfortable to stay.

We loved this room because half the room has wrap around floor-to-ceiling glass windows, has lots of lights and view of water and Pike Place. View was great. Having 2 separate full bathroom was great for family travel.

Condition of the room is not the standard of FS or Ritz. Chair seating parts keep popping up, Mini fridge opened on wrong side of the door as wet bar, Flooring is wearing out, ugly light switches throughout the room, faucets on vanity turns wrong side, outlet does not work (most of them won't even hold my Mac charger!), PLUS not enough lighting. For the rates they are charging, they need to upgrade the furnishings and condition of the room.

3. Service
Every service I received was great. Valet, front desk, housekeeping: they're on top when I request something, they'd delivered right away. Something I would not expect in most US hotels. So it was great.

4. Other
There's no tea in the room but there was coffee/tea self service by the lobby in am which was good.

The staff at Thompson were all welcoming and helpful. The room was plenty spacious for two. We were especially grateful for the valet service where parking can be especially difficult for someone not familiar with the area. Lots of drinking and eating options within walking distance - but be prepared for some serious hills.

Unfortunately, our particular room had an A/C unit that emitted a high-pitched noise when turned on during a humid night. We learned this upon returning to the room at 11:00 p.m. and by that time felt that it was too late to call reception and request a move to another room. The options were to bury our heads under the pillow or suffer through the warmth and it wasn't a very good night sleep. We let the manager know the day of checkout, so hopefully this gets before the next guest has to suffer through the same fate.

We have just spent four days in this lovely hotel situated in the middle of Downtown Seattle. The room was well appointed , and both the toiletries and towels in the bathroom were of top quality….probably the thickest, fluffiest towels we’ve used on our travels worldwide.
It is situated minutes from the Pike Place Market and restaurants, and also the shore front attractions like the Aquarium and Ferris Wheel.
My only word of warning is that it is very difficult to get an evening meal on a Monday evening, as most places seem to close on Mondays, including the hotel restaurant and rooftop bar. The rooftop bar is a very pleasant place to have some drinks and snacks, but almost impossible to get a seat even at 5pm when it opens!!!
I would definitely recommend the Thompson if you want somewhere less expensive and imposing than some of the others nearby….I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Answer from benjlar
Hi arob390, If you would like a large soaking tub I recommend booking the Thompson Suite as it has a very large tub that is separate from the shower. In our city view deluxe 2 queen, water view deluxe 2 queen, and other suites they do have a tub but they are the standard size and not as deep as the ones in the Thompson Suites.
