Words cannot express how cool this hotel is! First of all, the location is phenomenal. Its located right in the heart of the French Quarter, which gives you access to limitless options for shops and restaurants. One of the coolest things about the hotel is its history. It is a collection of French Quarter homes and courtyards, dominated by the Olivier-Locoul. Every single room is decorated according to its past history. For example, our suite used to be a horse stable and had horse paintings and other horse related items. The best part is that each piece of furniture is antique. It is unlike any hotel I've ever seen. The hotel room was very clean, and you could tell the people who cleaned it truly cared about the hotel. There is no breakfast, but you can make coffee in the lobby and there is free water. There are also some unique French snacks you can try there. Because you're in the French Quarter though, there are many options for breakfast, including Cafe du monde, which has beignets that I highly recommend you try. The beds. Oh the beds. That was the confiest bed I've ever slept in! I got 9 hours of sleep! That's 3 hours more than usual! We got to meet the hotel owner, and he was so nice. He told us everything about the hotel and showed us around. He gave us advice on the best things to see and do in New Orleans. He really made our time in New Orleans that much better! The hotel also had 3 cats. I love cats! The cat in the last picture loved to be pet and kept following me around asking for more. Overall, this is the best hotel I've stayed in, and is more than worthy of the 5 star rating. It's got a lot of history that is fun to learn about, a great owner and passionate workers, is in the best location ever, and will give you the best sleep ever! It hurt to leave!

Hey ACS, Glad to hear the Olivier House was your kind of place. It is good that you mentioned the historical aspect of the hotel. If one doesn't like history or historical places they probably won't understand the Olivier House and may be better off staying somewhere else. Of course, for that matter they also will never truly understand New Orleans, its traditions and why it is what it is, so maybe they would also be better off going to Portland or wherever. ( I'm sure I shouldn't pick on Portland. Just that, their government seems to have some problems these days) Of course New Orleans has the best government that money can buy! Again, part of our history. Anyway, we're glad that the ambiance of the Olivier House is what ya'll were looking for. We hope to create an atmosphere where our guest can relax, get away from it all, and feel %100 motivated to do nothing....except whatever they wish. No time schedules, pressures, or deadlines. Actually, we do love deadlines. We love the whooshing noise they make as they go by. And when one is ready to go out and eat a good meal, hear some music, take a nice walk, it is all just outside the front door. I may be bragging on us a bit too much and I'm sure Grandma wouldn't approve, ....so thank you for bragging on us as well. Thanks for staying with us, Jim

Hey Traveling T76, It was a delight to have all of your group with us. We're glad everyone seemed to enjoy the historical nature of the Olivier House and interacting with the staff. It was nice to hear ya'll felt like it was your home in New Orleans, we love it when our guest feel that way. Now if we could just get them to make their own beds, clean the room and help out around the place, we will be on to something! Looking forward to having ya'll back again sometime, Jim

Hi Sam, Thanks for writing a review, and for spending some time with us here at the Olivier House. We're delighted to hear you found it beautiful and well decorated. We feel like a hotel ought to be an experience and not just a place to sleep. Especially in a place like New Orleans, which is not just a city, but an entire culture. So a hotel should help immerse one into that culture and get them in a good ole " New Orleans" state of mind and ready to dive right into all it has to offer. A tourist sees, but a traveler lives, and our goal is for our guest to not just know what New Orleans looks like, but to know what it feels like, and to know what it feels like to be a part of it. Then when you go home, a little piece of New Orleans goes with you, and that is what we believe is the essence of good travel. We hope that was your experience. Hope to see ya'll again sometime, Jim
