This was our 2nd stay here, the first being in 2015. By some stroke of luck we seem to have scored the best room in the hotel-a double queen with a huge private balcony with a table and 2 chairs overlooking the Magnolia Courtyard and the pool. Very comfortable, spacious and clean with a definitely updated bathroom. Fridge, Keurig, closet, ample drawers. Only suggestion on the room is there needs to be a light when you first walk in-too dark to see how to operate the Keurig. Front desk staff ranged from helpful to indifferent but Andrew and Stewart and ALL of the housekeeping/maintenance staff were over the top helpful and friendly. The pool was as wonderful as we remembered and the location simply can't be beat. Excellent wifi but nothing beats sitting on the balcony or in the beautiful courtyard and just relaxing in the tranquility-you'd never know that you're mere steps away from all the action and magic that the French Quarter has to offer.…
We have been staying at the Place d'Armes for more than 20 years. It is our base when we are in New Orleans. The rooms are always clean and the staff is wonderful. Onsite parking is a great bonus, but it is becoming quite expensive and is not included in the room rate. The biggest let down is they no longer offer a morning coffee service. One of our greatest memories was sitting in the courtyard in the morning, enjoying a cup of coffee and a croissant and reading the local paper. Now, we have to go out and find coffee in the morning. Sadly, the Place d'Armes no longer stands out from all the other hotels around.
The hotel is tropical old French Quarter but could use a good cleaning at the least and an overhaul at best. The bathroom door was about 18" wide. The room was really comfortable but just needed a deep cleaning. Location was great.
I had a giant room. The staff, Stewart, and Patrice are a joy to get to know and interact with, they could not be more friendly or helpful. The location is perfect for getting around and enjoying the French Quarter with both Stanley's and Jackson Square mere steps from the front door.
Overall our stay was pleasant for a family of four with two boys 11 and 13. The courtyard setting is beautiful and convenient, the pool was nice, and it feels secluded from the hubbub of the Vieux Carré, while nevertheless being right in the center. Being steps from Jackson Square is a major plus. A few things would have improved our rating. After a late night arrival, we were subjected to an hour of leaf blowing in the courtyard right outside our room that began before 9 AM, which is utterly unacceptable. There was no hair dryer in the room and when we finally got one, its heating element was broken. There are no wine glasses in the room or available at the hotel. The check in staff, though quite pleasant, seemed to have little idea of the details of our reservation (for four--specified on the reservation she showed me) and told me it would be twenty dollars extra per night for each person over two in the room. Eventually she relented on this point. For over $400 per night, there should be few or no inconveniences.…
