I came here solo stayed 5 nights for the price it’s worth it, not luxurious at all but it’s a place to sleep and I felt safe, onsite security, you can get your laundry done onsite, great location about 2 min walk to the beach and there is mini mart just near the hotel, staff very friendly, staff came and made the bed everyday, only thing I would say is bad is no hot water (not that it bothered me), pool could definitely be colder and also cleaner, and wouldn’t bother with the restaurant/ room service. Food it’s pretty overpriced for the portion and the quality you get. But for the price it’s good

This was a well priced resort for a family of my husband and I, 2 adult children and 2 teenagers (2 x interconnecting rooms and 1 x standard room). In a great position right on the beachfront we had drinks on the beach every sunset. All staff were lovely, especially Merkat serving at the bar. Rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet and basic. Bathrooms were of below average standard but perfect for us as we literally use our room to sleep and shower, otherwise we were always out and about. Breakfast was average but enough…if you’re happy with freshly cooked eggs on toast, fruit and a hot cup of coffee it’s perfect. If you are after a full 5 star buffet breakfast, then this place isn’t for you. You get what you pay for, if you want all the trimmings (and maybe I would if we left the kids at home) go to Niksoma next door. But if you have a bigger group, want big rooms and a nice pool…this place is great!

Stayed for 13 days and absolutely loved it. Had a large studio room that as clean and very comfortable. The Melasti is in an excellent location, close to great eateries and right on the beach. The staff were extremely friendly, and helped whenever anything was asked. The security is phenomenal, we felt so safe. The 3 pools are huge, 2 with swim up bars. Highly recommend anyone stay there with a mid range budget.

Yes, this place isn't perfect... but you get what you pay for. The rooms would have been magnificent during their day- but remember Covid shutdowns would have left it sitting still for a long while and it's hard to recover from that. However, I slept well every night, beds were comfy, shower hot and aircon cool. We booked two interconnecting rooms (207 & 208). I'd recommend these. Very close to the beach, restaurants, large balcony and rooms and quite quiet which is a bonus. Some of the staff are amazing, some seem a bit sad (I read from another review that if you complain about a staff member, their boss docks their pay.... so PLEASE talk to the staff member directly first to address concerns before going straight to the manager). Free breakfast has some variety and is a good way to start the day. I wouldnt recommend eating in the restaurant - there's much better/cheaper food a short walk along the beach in either direction. Overall, we;re SO glad we chose to stay here. The money we saved, enabled us to do and buy WAY more during our stay, and we were still comfortable, safe and could still hear/see the waves in relative peace and quiet. Ask for rooms 207/208 ;)

I’m pretty sure our armed forces lived in better condition in Afghanistan.

The moment I walked into the reception, booked in and might add paid for an upgrade, ( not sure from what or to what ) was handed a room key with a piece of timber attached that I could have used as a surf board.

Walking up the corridor, thought I’d left my sunglasses on but unfortunately no this was the doom and gloom before I even arrived at the room.
Living in hope that things can only get better awaiting the door to be opened by our chaperone, I literally was blown backwards by the smell, the room was filthy, and was apparently just cleaned.
Pressing the switch for the light to room, fell off the wall, which thankfully happend not to highlight all the other issues.

We had booked three rooms, and I never in my wildest dreams thought these rooms could get progressively and consistently worse on opening the doors.
I turned to the family as said “I’m not staying here”
The staff gave us 4/5 other rooms to try and yes you guess, they were worse.

The pool area was its own hazard, the gardening was being conducted and three team members hacking away at palm with a hatchet.
There was a nice open trench about 8ft deep and three feet wide for you to fall in as you made ur way back to the reception.
Only one pool was operational from what we saw. The whole place is tired - felt like an old institution. It was dark ,dingy, dirty, disgusting. Smelled damp/musty .
There was pee on the toilet seat before we’d even used the bathroom not to mention holes in sheets on beds just made .

Our stay was for approximately 1 hour and I can say that was 58 minutes too long.
After formally complaining via email we received a total refund the next day.

I have many videos, of the hotel, I wasn’t able to upload.

The Melasti was a comfortable place to sleep at, but, very unkept. The room we had was huge but very old and tired looking and not maintained. The bathroom was smelly and dirty, no shower curtain to keep the water in the shower, not enough towels to sop up the water that went on the floor. Shower, bath and basin fittings were old, rusted and not working correctly, no soap or shampoo provided. I wouldn't use the dirty jug to make coffee. The hairdryer wouldn't blow out a candle, however they did supply plenty of bottled water
My advice BYO towels, personal needs and toiletries.

We tried to change rooms but there were none available. Of the three pools, the main pool was cooling but again looked tired and un-maintained. The blue pool was better but not great, we didn't make it to the smaller pool. Pool towels were scarce and you needed to grab one when you saw them or you didn't have a towel.

On a positive, once you get over the culture shock, the basic breakfast was all right.
The location is perfect. It is close to everything, beach, shops and bars. In its hay-day it would have been beautiful, but at the moment it's just OK. They are trying to do it up but it will take a huge injection of money to bring it back to its former glory, which again, I feel they are trying to do it on the cheap. Staff are ok but don't seem happy.

I would stay here again, the price for what you get is reasonable but I would be more prepared next time knowing what they were offering and what the standard of accommodation is.

The good bits; location is great right on the beach and close to lots of restaurants. It was obviously a great hotel back in the day, the grounds are large and you can see glimpses of it's past beauty. Its the traditional Balinese style of resort which I like.
The bad bits; It just felt like the little touches you expect in Bali weren't there. The staff were often on their phone and not on top of things including guests services. The pool always had empty beer bottles and old plates around and not cleared with any urgency. Towels were not always available at the pool with no rush to refill. Dirty ashtrays at pool and reception areas.
Our room was OK but little things made me feel sick like stains on the pillowcases (pool towels were also stained) and cigarette butts and dozens of old internet passwords thrown in the garden next to our balcony and never cleaned.
Its like they need a manager to walk around and make sure these little things are done. Ive stayed at dozens of places in Bali even very very cheap ones and these are the kinds of things that are normally taken care of. I just got the feeling the staff were not interested in offering anything exceptional, its was all the bare minimum. Its a pity because with just a little love and care this place could be great value for money.

Stayed here with a family of 5
We got 2 rooms, aircons didnt work always getting maintenance to fix them but they kept telling us there was nothing wrong with them, but we had to go and buy 3 pedestal fans just to keep cool,we asked to move to another room but the one's they showed us still aircon wasn't getting cold.
The only good side to this was our room was practically close to the beach, and next to breakfast, which was awful.
The reception staff didn't want to help us
So we will not be staying here again

I am writing this on behalf of my daughter who was staying at this hotel until yesterday (30th December) and could not bear to stay another day. She and her son got very ill and she had to spend almost a whole day at a medical clinic on IV drip treatment for the worst gastro she's ever had. Her son was sick too but not as bad. The hotel placed her in a room where the phone was broken, the toilet was not flushing, there was no water pressure and no hot water for a shower. When she got very sick, she had go to reception to ask for towels and toilet paper, she told them she was very ill and told them the phone in her room was not working. Two hours later she had to go back to reception because no towels and no toilet paper were sent to her room and the phone still wasnt working. As sick as she was, the guy at the reception desk showed no compassion and when my daughter mentioned that usually Balinese people were very kind and caring, there was no kindness shown to her at all. He just shrugged his shoulder, offered no apology, nothing. Because her gastro was so bad and they were not forthcoming with the toilet paper and towels, she made the decision to leave and find somewhere else to stay for the two days she had left in Legian. It wasnt easy to get accommodation a day before New Year's eve and she had to fork out a huge sum to book into another hotel. When she checked out at reception, she told the girl at the desk they were leaving two days early, the girl never asked her why and just said they do not give refunds. My daughter never mentioned any money and considering how disgustingly they treated her, the mention of NO REFUNDS was appalling and disgusting!!

I booked for 3 days but I end up staying all 4 weeks of my holiday in Bali.
There are some problems of course but the plus far exceeds the negative aspect, and the price is right for what you get.
The bathrooms definitely need to be brough up to a decent standard (rooms 218 and 221) but if we put that the place is quite and away from the road noisy and close to the beach then it all makes sense. also, the swimming pools are very good.
The staff are good and helpful especially Sri which always help me when in need to sort out my problems with my old phone and internet connection.
If come again in Bali Melasti resort will be my choice.

Hi - in which case maybe look at somewhere else...! But the only other advice here is even with cash - keep the receipts from the money exchange places so you can prove to your travel insurance company you actually had the cash in the event of something like this happening.
