Summary : a nice & affordable pool suite in Seminyak, strategically located, good value for money … but please take note of some minus points of the hotel listed below
Pros : 1. Affordable 1 & 2-bedroom suites in Seminyak area, spacious bedroom & bathroom (we stayed at room 205) 2. The hotel is just 5-10 minutes drive to all of the Seminyak's hot spots : Jl Kayu Ara, Jl Seminyak, Jl Petitenget, Seminyak Village, Potato Head Beach Club, etc 3. Check-in & check-out process are quick, staffs are very polite and helpful, security staff (which doubles as valet) are helpful 4. There is a convenience store located just next to the hotel, and the other one is just across the street. A few restaurants is also within walking distance, I notice that the restaurant located right in front of the hotel (Hi! Cafe) is crowded and lively 5. The private pool are decent and clean, albeit the water is a bit cold
Cons : 1. Limited parking space : only for 4 parking slots are available in the premise, if you happen to arrive when all the slots are occupied, you need to park in nearby shops (the hotel's security staff is very helpful on this matter, though) 2. Inconsistent room quality : our grouped booked two 2-Bedroom Suite and were allocated room 201 & 205. While room 205 was modern and spacious, room 201 has a more traditional, rustic appearance, which makes it looks old and spooky (especially at night), rather than vintage. 3. The stairways leading to the rooms are narrow, dark and a bit claustrophobic, there is also too many dark corners in the hotel that makes it a bit spooky in the night 4. Quality, Quantitiy & Consistency of the buffet breakfast : it is obvious that the hotel didn’t prepare enough breakfast for everyone. Breakfast items runs out almost all the time, and new dishes brought to the buffet sometimes is not the same with the previous dish. In day 1 of our stay, when the fried noodle runs out, the waiters put fried beehon as the replacement, in day 2 when the sausages runs out, they brought out (tasteless) sliced ham. The waiters also consistently refills the juice dispenser, each time only a bit was added to the dispenser, when they actually have more in stock. Some run out items were also never replaced, like croissants and muffins. Some people started to complaint at the waiters when things runs out, and it happens almost all the time during breakfast time, which create a bad mood in the morning. Clean utensils and tablewares are also sometimes hard to get

i purchased groupon for 3days2night at Cattleya suite 1 bedroom with private swimming pool.from the reservation until airport transfer and checkout, everything went out smoothly.i like the private swimming pool very much(even the water is cold) and the decoration of the room, when i checked in, the air cond n lights was turned on already by the staff.the staff was very helpful and friendly(be it the receptionist, the cleaner, housekeeping staff, driver, the cafe staff). food option is minimal for breakfast, and the taste is average hehe.however service and staff was excellent. ouh, theres a free wifi in every room and hotel area :)
they also provide a driver with car rental in case you want, but during my visit,i took outside driver, muslim driver since it will be easier for us to look for halal food and musolla to pray, and my driver was from yanto bali.
thats all for now.till then!

We had never been to Bali; so reluctantly decided to give it a go and use a really cheap deal accom voucher. Trip Advisor had told us it was off the beaten track and quiet & small, which we really wanted. When we arrived (3 hours early) they were expecting us and gave us a welcome drink while we signed in. With a major difference in the service ‘fakeness’ of the Balinese fawning over you in Kuta, we were happy to see them professional, yet very shy. Then to our room…… AMAZING! Again, for a cheap voucher we were prepared to be unimpressed, but the 1 bedroom pool villa room was beautiful. All made up with a fully stocked mini bar, larger than average fridge & microwave, the large pool and wet area of the unit was clean. Then inside the glass doors (key-lockable) the king bed was made up with the frangipanis and the air-cond had been on. They showed us the layout and what to do, and declined our offer of a small tip! We quickly jumped into our swimmers and although the water of the pool in our room was cold (no sunlight) it was fabulous just jumping right in! About 1m deep, but not so easy to step in and out. I jumped in and had to hoist out, so maybe a rail or ladder would be helpful to some? The bathroom was also large, with a bathtub, but we didn't use it...... If you looked closely for the negatives, (spiders, caterpillars, mould) you would find it, however we just enjoyed the positives of a great week away. The hotel infinity style pool was quite small, but clean, with white plastic ‘cane’ furniture all around and towels freely available. Big enough to do laps if you like, and a smaller one up near the bar with spa bubbles. There were two large square day beds up one end and although the fence was lined along one long side by gyprock and wire (overlooking a kind of drain, little temple & empty rubbish block), we learned that Cattleya are planning to extend, apparently a 5 storey building, to begin in about 6mths.
The rooms were sprayed for mozzies each evening and our beds turned down and with daily water (& more if you asked reception to take with you on a day out) and a nice mini bar, there was not much to complain about. The smell being talked about, did not bother us one bit, only smelt it when around the pool, as the drain appeared to be directly below the decking.
In the pool bar we heard repeats of the same music, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, current dance hits over and over again. The boom box was turned on by the staff whenever guests came out to the pool, so maybe it was a code to other staff that we were there? The coffee machine was also nice and better than most Balinese coffee. The drinks were same as Seminyak (pricey for Bali), but good enough. It was no problem to bring your own drinks from your room, out to the pool with you.
We learned at brekkie that the staff are mostly young and in training, which explained their giggly, smiling, shy ways. NEVER, EVER pushy, they were helpful, if a bit inexperienced and needed to be reminded occasionally for things eg: milk with coffee; we helped ourselves to lots of things rather than wait to be served, which, honestly, didn’t bother us. We were happy to explain away some of their failings, since they were really so cute and smiley and there was about 3 staff to each guest! The 2 types of brekkie was rotated daily, so not too boring both Indonesian & Western style, nice cooked eggs and waffles to order.
Some improvements could be: variety of CD’s on the boombox. more toilet paper in the rooms. a massage table instead of the bed in your room. (a bit soft for the visiting back massage lady)
Some big plusses were: free shuttle anywhere around Seminyak, then a bluebird taxi back with metre on is less than $1 from Seminyak Square. Or an easy 10min walk if not too sunny. Lots of little Warungs nearby, if you want to go exploring. Carliz Cafe right next door is fine, for something Western, and well priced.
We would absolutely come back with our kids, if we could get the same price, but there are so many places, we may just try somewhere else. Thanks so much to everyone, we missed you straight away, and wish you all good luck. We had a lovely time and will highly recommend to all.....

I was planning my first night in Bali and I found this offer on the website for rooms at one dollar in this hotel. Even I found the price ridiculously cheap I thought that it might have been a last minute offer, since when I checked the reviews I realised that they work a lot with groupon website and other special offer so i thought to give it a go. When they sent me the invoice with the amount I thought I was secure, no serious business would produce a receipt with a wrong price on it. I arrived in Bali really late after 13 hours flight and I got a cab to reach the place. i arrived there and after a conspicuous number of fake smiles the lady at reception told me that the actual price was not in rupees but in dollars.. that the system online has a fault. i explained to them that the price was advertised for three days on different ways.. I felt really humiliated cause at that point they were playing on the fact that it was late and I wouldn't go anywhere, so they were trying to sell me the room trying to give me discounts. This really pissed me off cause I didn't want to pay so much money, not being in my plans. I had the impression that they were really desperate and trying to attract customers in the most cheeky ways, forcing them to take the room. I felt really awkward, i have been travelling in 4 continents and it never happened to me to find myself in this kind of situation. They were not apologetic at all, and at the end of the day I had to pay anther cab to move in another accommodation, I was expecting them to offer to pay the cab which in Bali is something like 3 australian dollars but they didn't even bother to offer that.
BAD experience, bad customer service, bad way to make business. Completely disappointed.

My sister and I had an awful experience here. First, let me say that if you like your creature comforts, then this is NOT the place to stay.
1. Booked the hotel driver to take us to a friend's wedding in Uluwatu (just over an hour from Seminyak) - we were told that the driver knew where he was going and booked the driver at 2.30pm. The wedding was at 4.00pm and at 4.45pm we arrived at the resort in Uluwatu. This was a horrible experience being lost in the mountains and missing the wedding ceremony! Having travelled all the way to Bali particularly for the wedding and missing the ceremony due to lack of preparation from the hotel. It was awful being stuck in the car for over 2 hours and the driver did not have a map!!! He admitted later that he did not know where he was going. I made a complaint to the hotel when we arrived back later in the evening only to be told that the driver was new and didn't know where it was.... oh my god, if i could turn back time i would! AWFUL!!!
2. Bathroom smells. Shower is lined with pebbles that hurt, i suggest you wear thongs. Also, it smells like urine in the shower.
3. Shower had no hot water. When we complained, we were told that was normal temperature (which it wasn't). We could not even stand under the shower to wash ourselves as it was that cold! The next day, the hot water worked, but it seemed to be on a timer. After 2 mins, the hot water would stop. Being rushed in the shower is not very pleasant.
4. Small bathroom sink - if you are going to share with a girlfriend, then you better book another hotel. The mirror is so small only one person can use the mirror at a time. There are no other mirrors or a full length mirror in the room.
5. Too many mozzies - could not sleep with mozzies eating my face!
6. Brekkie - free brekkie was offered but is not good. Fresh juice sits directly under the sun. You need you boil the kettles if you want to make tea/coffee. The coffee granules sit in an icecream container with a spoon. There is a nice hotel down the road, Maca, we got iced coffees there and brekkie which is quite cheap and the atmosphere is very nice.
7. They ripped us off - paid for a taxi service at front desk, only to find that we were charged again when we left. I know that the person at the front desk pocketed this when we paid for it originally.
8. A lot of taxi drivers do not know where this is as it's on a dirt road off a main road.
9. Pillows are way too hard!
I'm never one to complain, and this is the first time i have written a review. I can honestly say that for the time we spent at the hotel, it was awful. There were no apologies and for them to shrug off the fact that it was their fault we missed a wedding ceremony and smile was just the last straw.
I am very disappointed. Do not stay here!!

The rooms smelt damp and mouldy, interconnecting doors and paper thin walls meant it was noisy as we had a family next door, it also sounded like there was a rat in the ceiling running around at night, the private pool attached to the room was undercover and there were a lot of mosquitoes, bathroom is partially outdoors so there are sometimes bugs, rooms are dark and dim. No taxi drivers knew the hotel or where it was. Choose elsewhere - you can get a simple, quiet and clean room for less $

Dear Guest, On behalf of Cattleya Suite Bali Team i would like to thank you for your invaluable review; a milestone for a better service to our guests in the future. We aplogize for your inconvenience while staying with us; Bali is a tropical island and the team has been working hard doing preventive measures to tackle the mosquitoes problem in the room (we are doing regular fogging three times a week) as well as the noise problem you have been experiencing since we are in high season at the time so the property is quite fully occupied. My boyfriend and I were quite apprehensive about the hotel as there were not a lot of reviews about it on TripAdvisor. And the reviews on the cold private pool made me kinda regret spending that extra money for requesting for a room with one.
The hotel provides shuttle services to and fro the airport. We read that it was meant to be free but during the trip to the airport for our return flight, the driver told us that we had to pay him. We said that we already did at the hotel and he didn't ask for more. Wondered if he was really telling the truth...
The check in and check out were done swiftly which was excellent. Since the villa was built around more or less an open concept with an outdoor bathroom, it meant that there were constantly many mosquitoes. Furthermore, the hotel is just opposite a seemingly stagnant rice field, maybe that's where the mosquitoes came from. However, the hotel was helped solve that problem daily by spraying insecticide daily. Smoking repellents were also placed near the pool to help get rid of the mosquitoes. The problem was that there were sometimes dead mosquitoes floating in the bathtub. On the first day, when we just entered our room, we were greeted with an insecticide smoking just along the corridor which was very noisy and smelly as well.
The room was always cleaned properly and bottles of water added everyday for us. There was also a huge fridge and a microwave for guests' use.The TV provides a myriad of international channels. There was just so much to watch, it provided good entertainment for us at night. The air con is perfect for such hot weather as well. The bed was fluffly and just right for sleeping. I have been to hotels where the pillows were too hard or too low, or the beds would give you a shoulder ache in the morning. But the beds in the villa was really comfortable and allowed me to have a good night's sleep.
The private pool was too, too, too cold. Just as what almost all the other reviews have mentioned. My boyfriend and I used it not more than 3 times throughout our stay. It wasn't because we really enjoyed it but just that it felt like a waste of money if we didn't utilize it enough. Cattleya should install heaters in the pool. There is no need to turn the heater on the whole day or put the switch for the heater in the villa where guests would turn it on the entire day. Having the reception or some hotel staff controlling the heater, turning it on for just a few minutes at intervals each day would be fine. There won't be too much of a waste of electricity too.
The breakfast was not good. I ordered the local breakfast most of the time and I would prefer if the Nasi Goreng and Bee Hoon Goreng were spicy, as what the locals would have. My boyfriend had the western set throughout the holiday and the portion was too little for him. The bacon was just too little. Other than that the rest was fine. Maybe add in some hashbrown??? Haha.
Location wise is pretty bad. Many taxi drivers around the area don't even know where the hotel is and the hotel is not very obvious from the main road. There is a need to drive down a bumpy unlit road to get to the hotel. My boyfriend and I tried walking back to the hotel from potato head and we were almost attacked by stray dogs. We couldn't see the dogs, only hear its barkings getting closer and then we only saw it when it came pretty close. Luckily the driver from the villa nearby offered to help us and send us back in the car for free. Really much thanks to the driver from Villa Lumbog or something like that. You saved our lives!
Before we checked in I had to make a deposit of 500,000 rupiah but upon checking out I did not receive it back. Instead, I was told to wait for 2 weeks to get my money back. I have never experienced such a thing before so I am pretty worried if I would get my money back. Shall wait and see.
Overall, I had a good stay at the Cattlaya Suite Condotel. I would come back to stay here again if the hotel manages to sort out the few kinks that they have.

My twin sister and I booked these suites on a Groupon deal. We were very apprehensive about the cattleya suite as it was a new hotel and no reviews were available. The hotel offers an airport pick up service, in bali this is a huge plus when looking for a hotel, you do not have to fuss with taxi's or the possibility of getting ripped off by unregistered taxi. The gentleman who picked us up was very helpful, he spoke excellent english and made us comfortable from the start.
when we arrived the reception staff made us comfortable during check in and offered us a complimentary cocktail.
After check in we were shown to our room (201) - this room was a 2 bedroom suite with a private pool. we only paid for a one bed suite with pool, the other room was locked up. The hotel does have one bed private pool suites however I am assuming they were booked when we arrived, never the less I am sure all rooms vary only slightly, the more space we had the better in my opinion.
The room - you enter the room through a door leading from reception - to open this door you must use a security card, you must then climb stairs (this particular villa - other villas on different levels) - there are other bali style doors when you finish climbing the stairs and you can lock these to. The suite has a large freshwater pool with in pool jets and water fountain. There are lounge beds, lounge chairs , a leather sofa and sitting area along with fridge and microwave with cutlery and glasses for the guests convenience.
Inside the room itself the bed is a king size and comfortable (lockable doors here ) - the sheets were always immaculate after room service every morning. A plus point to note here, the staff clocked us leaving the hotel and would then instruct room service to enter, which did not create any embarrassment or any unease if we were present in the villa. The room is very spacious and has a powerful split air con system, blissful on them hot bali days. The room has a tv/dvd player / sat box with english speaking channels. - the toilet is situated in the next room to the bedroom and is very large with an extremely large bath tube, his/hers sink/ hairdryer/ all shower products/safe/ and power shower. I have stayed in seminiak before and payed double what we payed for the cattleya suite and the rooms here were a lot bigger. Fresh water was also supplied daily to brush our teeth and drink at our convenience.
Breakfast - we had breakfast included in our stay - This was the only disappointment for me - the food was cold when brought to us and the choice of food was limited to egg and a small rasher of bacon - small selection of fruit. Tea and coffee was served every morning but milk did not automatically come with the food - this was requested after the first morning of not having milk - they did thereafter bring milk for us. Despite the breakfast being a little dissatisfying it is a new hotel and hopefully these little issues will be ironed out in the future. The hotel should be made aware of these issues so that the service provided will be second to none.
Room service - what can I say - internet is available 24 hours a day with a key code available from reception free of charge. The hotel staff were very quick to respond to any request including reservations at nearby restaurants and taxi's. The room was service daily and staff would come to the room of a night to spray bug repellant and roach killer.
Reception/service - The hotel offers complimentary drop off in to the local town when available - this was very convenient - the hotel always obliged and took us to the heart of seminiak when required free of charge, this can be some times very helpful when taxi's are not available.
Taxi - from the above point you will question why there was sometimes an issue with getting a taxi in bali - the road leading to the cattleya is very bumpy and is in need of attention, therefore when taxi's do travel on this road, they are normally ordered or if not people are quick to jump in them. The road is full of high class , upmarket hotels, we were assured that in the future this road is likely to be sealed and travel made easier to and from the hotel, I did not see a huge problem with the road as such, most roads are like this in Bali.
Conclusion - we really enjoyed our stay during the soft opening stages of the hotel. we benefited from a fantastic deal - the hotel is in a good location - minutes away from potato head and Ku de Ta. We would stay here again with out a doubt. A risk with Groupon well worth taking.

We booked this hotel due the good deal we got from our travel agent. For the price we didn’t expect to much. How wrong we were. The hotel is deceiving from the front, but when you walk through reception it’s an oasis. The staff are amazing nothing is to much trouble. We had a pool room that we loved. House keeping was good. You do have to remember the hotel isn’t brand new, but the owners are spending money on improvements. There was some small patches of damp high on the walls in the room, but nothing that concerned us. Food was good we used room service several times. Breakfast was eat as much as you want with made to order omelettes, pancakes and other cooked eggs. We have already decided this will be our hotel for our next holiday. Lastly we want to thank all the staff for making our stay so special. We will see you soon Andy + Naomi
