We are home from a fantastic visit at GBNP staying at End of the Trail….er! The town of Baker is tiny, and even in the dark we had no trouble finding the right place. Patricia was there to meet us and show us around. At the last minute, we were actually able to bring our college age son. He slept in the twin room. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom is a decent size with a good tub/shower The whole place was very clean. The outside/deck looks out over GBNP and has a few chairs and a bench that is built into the railing. To be clear it is a trailer, but we only had access to about 50% of it. She uses the other half for storage (perfectly understandable because the nearest town is hours away in case the mini fridge conks out, etc.). However, I didn’t realize this when I booked, so we had really no place inside to “hang out” except in our bed (s) and a couple of chairs in the bedroom. In the hallway, there’s a mini fridge, a microwave, a coffee pot (and both regular and decaf coffee grounds), and a small sink. There are a few plates, mugs, wine, glasses, utensils (plenty for your visit!)… As well as she had some snacks for us, which were welcomed while we hiked! On the deck, there is a large gas grill, but we did not use it. I thankfully had brought a couple of blankets along. She has two moving blankets that you can use outside on the deck but you aren’t allowed to take her other pillows or blankets out there. The deck is hard on your bottom (and we also needed a cover at night because it was pretty cool), so I was glad to also have the ones that I had brought along. She had good recommendations for food. The options are very limited in baker, but we enjoyed all the food we had there. We also were so pleasantly surprised by the beautiful park. We would definitely stay here again!

Not only is the location ideal for visiting Great Basin National Park the unit was equipped with so many little things meant to improve your stay, very well thought out. . It’s also a great location for star gazing with a view of Mt Wheeler. The hostess was so good about responding to questions and went out of her way to make sure you had pertinent information for your visit. In addition the Bunkhouse was exceptionally clean. Highly recommend for this are so glad we found it!

The End Of The Trail-er is comfortable, clean, and convenient to Mt Wheeler & Great Basin National Park. From its larger bedroom you can lie in bed and watch the sun rise on Wheeler Peak. Located in Baker, NV there eating and general store services nearby. The entrance to the park is only 5 miles away. So you can relax in a quiet friendly rural community or visit a unique national park. I had a very enjoyable stay and plan to return. I can’t say enough good things about the property or the host.

We would give the Bunkhouse more stars if possible! It was perfect for our 3 night stay in Baker during September 2022. Our hostess, Margaret, keeps the Bunkhouse super clean and spotless. She is very thoughtful, with lots of small touches and plenty of supplies. We used the Bunkhouse as a base to explore Great Basin National Park. The park is just a few miles west. The town of Baker is easy to navigate. We ate at Sugar, Salt & Malt, as well as take-out from the 487Grill. Both were fine. The nicest part of our perfect experience at the Bunkhouse was sitting on the back patio for sunset & the night sky. Thank you Margaret! Alan & Barb Bennett

We had such an amazing time staying at the End of the Trail…er. It’s in a great location in Baker, with a wide open view of the Snake Mountains/Great Basin National Park from the deck looking to the west. From the front we could enjoy the bench and look across the Snake Valley to the east, and it’s a very easy walk to the restaurants in Baker. The amenities made us feel so spoiled after our long hikes in the park and Patricia, the trail boss who rents it out, made us feel so at home. It is obvious that she puts a lot of effort into making this a comfortable and beautiful place. We loved staying here and will definitely book it again next time we go.

The End of Trail...er was a good resting spot for our hiking in Great Basin National Park. Clean, neat, simple ... large bedroom and bathroom. It was a kick! We loved watching the stars. The milky way was right above our heads with a million other stars. Patricia was wonderful throughout the whole booking process. Got to meet her one day and she is a lovely person! Even went out of her way to send me back something I'd left behind.

Our stay at the bunkhouse was very enjoyable! The bunkhouse has an excellent location on the edge of the town with a view of the mountains out the patio doors and from the deck. It was fully equipped with everything we needed. We brought our own food and enjoyed grilling on the deck each night. This property was very clean and inviting. Margaret was friendly and had useful informative suggestions for sites and parks to visit in the area! Tip: She has several nice DVD's, if you have a favorite, bring it along.

We stayed for a couple nights in Margaret’s Bunkhouse at the edge of downtown Baker, population 70. The accommodation was clean, quiet, comfortable for two, and very conveniently located to Great Basin N.P. with fantastic unobstructed views of the desert and the mountains in the distance. The Bunkhouse was equipped with a kitchenette, dishes and utensils, a barbecue grill on the patio, and an assortment of books and guides about the park, the trails, local birdlife … Margaret was a great host, providing us with a wealth of info and advice about touring Great Basin before we arrived and then throughout our stay. On our last evening we had a lovely time sitting outside with Margaret watching the full moon rise above the mountains and listening to her stories about life in Baker and how it was she came to live and love it there. Really enjoyed our stay!
