Clean/modern feeling I had when I first walked in. The rooftop was set up for sitting, chilling and wow, the view was fantastic!!!! I ended up going there a lot. Morning, and evening after dark. You can see everything 360 view. Statue of liberty, one world trade center memorial, trains running, freeway traffic, people walking etc. I cannot express enough how wonderful that was. For free breakfast, with COVID restriction, they only had “packed” items and no hot foods. But for me, they were enough, cereal, apples, oranges, bananas, yogurt, milk, muffins/pastries, that sort. Fitness center was well cleaned/kept. In the past, in the hotel fitness centers, I had encountered many “broken/not working” equipment, but for this hotel, everything worked, which was great. As previously mentioned in the review (I just saw another review), I was NOT told that I would need “request” for housekeeping, so I absolutely did not know. I was waiting for my room cleaned while I was out all day, came back late, and realized my room was not cleaned, so I went down to the lobby and asked, at that time, first time, I was told that I would need “request”, I had no idea. They should have told me. Also the “keurig machine” in my room was not working so I called the front desk on the first day, and I was told someone would come to check. Nobody came, so I asked again on 2nd day, well, nobody came. I wished someone could have paid attention. But again, room was comfy, view was great, and location was great.

Location of this hotel relative to residences of several close friends of our late son and to the restaurant chosen for a memorial & thank-you get-together with his friends (Convivium Osteria) made it ideal. We asked for, and got a suite on a higher floor and could not have been happier. By NYC standards, room size was fine, and we got a bonus in it having its own private patio (room 1210). This hotel offers a complementary breakfast and sells a reasonable variety of beers, wine, soft drinks, snacks, etc. My wife and I got take-out Chinese food for our first evening at this hotel, from Lin's Garden on 4th Ave., took it and a bottle of Pinot Grigio from the hotel to our private patio and enjoyed a quite, relaxing dinner. This hotel is new enough to have been built with good sound suppression, so we slept and otherwise enjoyed our room without hearing much traffic noise. If back in this area, we'd seriously consider staying here again.

Our organization runs Institutes and conferences for K-16 educators across the U.S. and internationally. We wanted to be right in the middle of Gowanus so that our teachers could meet for presentations and then field work. We found the Fairfield Inn and Shaaray and her team took such great care of us that it felt like being home. Many of our participants even commented on how well they felt taken care of. Michael was ready for us early and spared no effort to make sure our A/V needs were met. He checked back frequently with us to make sure all went well. (This is unusual in my experience) The Fairfield is extremely well kept and clean and so we felt it to be perfect since our image is always on the line the venues we work in. I would also comment that Sharaay went above and beyond in the weeks leading up to our conference, making sure that everything would run smoothly—and it DID. My wish now is that every venue we work in would have someone as on top of their game and full of professional hospitality as Sharaay and her staff at the Fairfield.

Prior to my stay at the Fairfield Inn, I did extensive research to ensure that there were no previous complaints about bedbugs at this hotel. Unfortunately, my biggest nightmare became my reality. I was originally booked from 7/19/2023 to 7/23/2033. On the morning of 7/21/2023 I woke up with bedbug bites. Immediately, I informed the front desk staff. After waiting for nearly 20 minutes, a few housekeeping staff came to inspect the bed. These staff members claimed to be “bed bug experts.” Due to the fact that they were unable to find any live bugs on the bed or box spring, they declared that there was not a bed bug issue. However, it does not take an expert to know that bed bugs can hide ANYWHERE. One staff member claimed that my bites were mosquito bites. Unfortunately, I had previous experience with bed bugs and knew the difference between a bed bug bite and a mosquito bite.

Despite, no evidence of live bugs there were other signs of bed bugs aside from the bites. 1. The first night that I arrived, I was greeted by a musty smell in the room. 2. After the housekeeping staff left the room, I further inspected the bed and found small blood specks alongside the edge of the bed. I was informed that the hotel was fully booked and therefore they could not put me in another room. The hotel manager informed me that if I was uncomfortable with staying, they could cancel the rest of my stay and try to find me accommodation elsewhere. While waiting for my work company to make arrangements for accommodation, I was rushed by hotel staff to make a decision of whether or not I was staying at the hotel. He explained that if I was not going to stay, they would need the room for another guest. This just proved that none of the staff members took my concerns of bed bugs being present in the room seriously. The hotel was more than ready to occupy a room with bed bugs to another guest. This is just shameful and awful because they did not even hire professionals to rectify and further investigate the issue.

Though staff members were nice and as helpful as they could be, it was very sad that they were willing to let another guest go through the same traumatizing experience as I did.

Other thoughts on hotel: the reason why this hotel was chosen was because of its location and in/out parking privileges. Although there are limited parking spots, the hotel further limits guests but not allowing any vehicles to park near the fence. Though parking was very limited, I thankfully never had any issues finding parking at the hotel. Additionally, the breakfast choices were limited compared to other hotels and there was not a fridge or microwave in the room. The room’s sheets, pillows, curtains, and shower curtains all need to be retired and replaced immediately.

Dear Mrs. Vivian Nguyen, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience while staying with us. Your experience of bugs is below our standard. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and I sincerely apologize for failing to meet your expectations. I have shared your feedback with the housekeeping leadership team to ensure the necessary guidelines are in place and reviewed to prevent bugs from occurring in the future. I understand and I truly apologize. But if it helps at all the room was inspected by Ecolab. I have attached a copy of the findings. I just want you to know that I took your email very seriously. Mrs. Nguyen what would you like for me to do to further assist you in this matter. Again, I sincerely apologize. Sincerely, Leynette Jones

A request was made when the reservation was made to be 100% sure that my room for the week had a refrigerator in it for medications and was assured that it would not be a problem.
WRONG!! Ended up using an ice bucket to keep them cold.
Went to complain the night before I left, and the clerks at the desk couldn't be bothered to listen. Hotel manager was never available.
Compared to other Marriott branded hotels the free breakfast was a joke especially on the weekend.
If you arrived towards the end of breakfast hours, I was lucky to find any clean silverware or a bowl for ceral much less a decent piece of fruit or bagel.
Breakfast area is in dire need of a upgrade to catch up with the rest of the Marriott chain.
Tried reaching out to the hotel manager again when I got home from my trip. Again no answer from the manager.
Elevators are so noisy that a person can't think in it!!
Room was OK at best.
Room felt like I was in a sardine can.
Bathroom was one of the few highlights of my stay except for the hot water running out Thursday and Friday mornings before 5:00AM!
Had to ask numerous times for towels towards the end of my stay.
I'm glad I didn't have to pay for this stay. My employer did.
As a Marriott Silver Rewards member, this hotel was a major FAIL!

Dear Mooser2019, I recognize your time is valuable and appreciate the feedback you have provided. Receiving warm and friendly service from our staff sets the tone for a great stay. This was not your experience, and I sincerely apologize for failing to meet your expectations. I have shared your feedback with the associates, and as a teachable moment, we have discussed our service standards and reviewed improvement opportunities in the service they provide. I am confident that these necessary steps will ensure your experience of not having a refrigerator, a manager not being available, breakfast not being to your liking is an isolated incident. I hope you choose to stay with us again, whenever your travels bring you back to the area. I work various locations throughout Long Island and Brooklyn/Manhattan for various producers of power for consumers.

I choose this hotel because it was a centralized location across the various places I needed to commute over a period of time, with a parking lot.

Not many New York City based hotels have a parking lot. It is small and some of the spaces are paid for and rented per existing customers outside from the hotel.

Unfortunately the parking lot is very crowded. However the hotel management makes every attempt possible to accommodate guest as best they can.

It is without waking distance of Barclay center and various other locations for individuals who have the ability to walk for commutes.

Nice hotel if you have the ability to enjoy the hotel.

The hotel is relatively convenient for downtown Brooklyn, Park Slope etc but the immediate surroundings of the hotel are a bit grim and perhaps not safe for walking after dark. The view from my window was a derelict building. The room was okay but for a three star hotel, it felt basic and not well maintained (stained carpets, smears on the headboard of the bed, etc). The breakfast is so-so. Mostly I thought the hotel was misrepresented by reviews and over-priced for its level of quality. It seems to be entirely staffed by teenagers who didn't know what they were doing – they were perfectly nice but a bit incompetent. But it has one saving grace: the roof terrace has fantastic views, almost but not quite enough to make it worthwhile.

I stayed here from March - April 2018. The hotel, rooms, facilities, view from the rooftop and proximity to Brooklyn sights and scenery makes this a must stay if you are near the Barclays Center. The best thing is this was one of the most professional, personable and friendliest staffs I have met is my travels around the world. World Class service. I had to put June 2019 because this is as far back as the date go. I had to go back and give the staff the thanks they deserved for my stay there.

This was the most poorly managed hotel I have ever had the displeaure of staying in. It took multiple calls to customer service after we got home and more than two weeks to finally be told they would not waive the room fee for the first night, but they did offer Marriott points and a lame apology. Way too little, too late.

The only reason they offer a rooftop retreat is so that guests can throw themselves off to end the misery of staying at this hotel.

Housekeeping doesn't show up ever, no laundry services, manager lied to the corporate office when asked if I had requested laundry pickup. Even Uber drivers are sketched out to pull in the parking lot. I cut my two week stay short after three nights and had to peace the eff out.

13/10 would not recommend.

Best of luck if you stay here. I recommend staying at Townplace Suites on President if you can, minimally higher rate for an exponentially better stay and experience

In the unlikely scenario that every hotel in all five boroughs but the Fairfield are sold out, I recommend instead crashing with the rats in the G train tunnels. They are certainly much happier with their accommodations than I was at the Fairfield Inn on 3rd.

Much love ✌

Small parking area. Parking the last time I stayed there it was $25 a night. If you go out at night take a Uber and leave the car at the hotel.

Call the hotel directly when you make the reservation and request one. If it's already been made, call Marriott 's 800 number and have them add your request to the reservation and ask them to add it to the notes section of the reservation.

How far is it to walk to Brooklyn Bridge?
Answer from Carl W
Owatonna, Minnesota769 contributions238 helpful votes
I am not sure how far, but we were told by the tour guide on a Hop On Hop Off bus that in New York City, the best to travel is; if less than 20 blocks, walk. If more, then take the train. We were there for 4 days, and rode more trains and Uber cabs in those few days than in our whole life total. From the Farifield Inn & Suites in Brooklyn, we walked to the train station near the Barclay Center a few times and then rode the trains in different directions.
