Property's Favourite Review
We spent two nights at this guesthouse.
We arrived at the check-in time and parked our car in one of the spaces at the back of the property. The owners were out, but answered the Ring doorbell and told us where to find our keys to get into our room. We had to rush out to the Jags game, so didn't see them again until the next morning.
The property is in a residential area, so there isn't much close by, although there was a Publix and some restaurants within 10 minutes walk.
There is a somewhat limited breakfast, but everything is cooked to order so it's easy to change things up. I asked the hosts if we needed to do any paperwork as we had not seen them when we arrived, but they told us everything was fine. The hosts were amiable, although we did not have a lot of interaction with them.
The property is beautiful. Our room was a good size, and there was lots of space around the property to sit and read or play games. We didn't have time to do any of that during our stay unfortunately.
Obviously, this is an old house with no lift, so consider this when booking if you have any difficulty with stairs. I am able bodied, and in good health, and even I found all the stairs up to the second floor challenging with a heavy suitcase.
The bathroom was very modern, but the decoration was sympathetic to the old style of the place.
Our room was charged to the card we booked with on our day of departure.
I would consider staying here again.

Lovely grand home. After a long day of moving we arrived late, they had a security code to get in and our room key waiting for us so we didn't have to disturb anyone with our late arrival. A bar at the back of the house providing a nightcap was nicely appointed and was on the honor system with regards to paying for your beverage of choice. Our room was spacious and immaculate with fluffy white towels, lotions and potions and great quality linens. Unfortunately the bed itself was very uncomfortable with a wire rack and springs that were painful when you got in and out . Beds got to go! Breakfast was amazing, something for everyone, beautiful presentation and lovely staff. The french press coffee was fabulous and the grits to die for. We were able to have our daughter and friend join us for breakfast which in many B&B's isn't possible . We would stay again just try out a different bed.

I grew up in Riverside so the location of the Inn is not only old South scenic, it’s personally nostalgic. Set amid moss-draped grandfather oaks, the Riverdale Inn is furnished with lovely antiques and furniture and most importantly, comfortable beds. It has a balcony on the second floor for smokers and a large front porch and back deck, which also allows smoking, although there were no smokers around. The natural beauty of the surrounding area, gives it a feel much like Savannah, Ga. Memorial Park and the St John’s River are both a short block away, and the neighborhood commercial area is close-by for shopping and dining. I’ve stayed there on four occasions while visiting my family and it’s always a treat. Masks are now required to be worn inside the public areas, which makes it a safer environment. My sister and I ordered our breakfast from a menu of tasty choices and took our food to our room.
I have recommended this beautiful place, which is owned and managed by a friendly and most accommodating family, to all of my friends and family members. It’s absolutely wonderful!

The beautiful, well appointed interiors make the Riverdale Inn seem like one is walking into a timeless, graceful, elegant Victorian manor house. Each room is wonderfully decorated with vintage and antique furniture; The Inn is absolutely spotless. You can tell that the owners and staff take pride in keeping such a lovely place immaculate.
The staff were beyond friendly, and extremely helpful when showing me places of interest/restaurants in the area-- on the printed hand-drawn map.
The extra touch of the "Honor System," should you care for a cocktail from the unmanned bar, only further adds to the all over graciousness of the Riverdale Inn.
I thoroughly enjoyed eating a delicious breakfast on the porch, as I watched the early morning joggers run by.
My only complaint: I wish I could have stayed longer at the Riverdale Inn.

Was in town to visit our daughters in Jacksonville. Wanted to find a safe, socially distant place to stay and did not want to stay at a hotel. My daughter reminded us about the Riverdale Inn and I was so glad they had the availability. We had 5 comfortable nights. Perfect location in Riverside, with spacious rooms and an amazing breakfast. Had to extend our stay one night and Mary-Mychael was very flexible. Also, invited out children to meet us for breakfast one morning, Eric and Mary-Mychael accommodated them with no hic-cups. Would definitely stay again, next time we are in Jacksonville.

What a gem of a place to find!
We needed a stopover in Jacksonville after flying into Orlando.
This b&b was perfect. We arrive fairly late but our key was left for us along with a note saying we had been upgraded, always a lovely way to arrive somewhere.
The room was spacious, nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed. It was well-equipped with everything you could need and having coffee making facilities in the room was a nice addition (although china mugs instead of paper cups would have been better from an environmental point of view).
In the morning the staff we welcoming and attentive. The breakfast was delicious and the French press coffee was a unique and great way to start the day. The breakfast room was tastefully decorated and the attention to detail was excellent.
We will definitely be recommending and will return if we come to the east coast again.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Four female family members stayed one night and all agreed Riverdale Inn was an incredible find! Two rooms, Shadowlawn and Park Suite, were both lovely. Nice having a larger room for relaxing and enjoying wine together, but there are several spots available in the house for this. Rooms are quiet..... we stayed up fairly late talking so the following morning when we saw the couple from next door we apologized and were relieved when they said they didn’t hear us. Owner and staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Off street parking was a plus. Nine of our family had a birthday Valentine’s Day dinner at River and Post so we were able to walk from the inn. Next morning we walked around and fell in love with the neighborhood. We can’t wait to return!

We have stayed here once several years ago, but the appeal of a B&B in this location beats hotel options, hands down.
The house is older (which means there are always touch-up jobs to be done) but the rooms are great size and service is excellent. We rented #4 and #5 on the 2nd floor. We slept well and the the breakfast was very very good! Service with a smile is also a great plus! I would recommend the Riverdale Inn for your future travel considerations to the Riverside area of Jax.

We have probably stayed at Riverdale Inn 8 times over the past few years. Every stay was super nice. Eric, Mary-Mychael, Bob, Linda and Sydney are all great hosts. Breakfast is wonderful. The rooms are clean and nicely furnished. This last stay was during the coronavirus event and they were taking all the right precautions and cleaning.
We love the historical background of the house and the area. In the parlor, you can find a book on Jacksonville historical homes. You can check out the local (Riverside) section and plan a walk it the area to view the homes.
We will be back.

This is the perfect place to stay anytime but even more so during our scarey Covid times. We’ve stayed here several times so felt comfortable being here. Right now. As always the rooms are lovely and the front porch is a wonderful spot to Enjoy your morning coffee and afternoon wine. The location is great (several very nice restaurants and the cummerbund museum are only a few blocks away). We also enjoyed a morning walk along the Jacksonville river walk before eating a delicious breakfast prepared for us. The owners are very friendly. We look forward to our next stay at the the Riverdale Inn.
