I always try to stay here when I'm passing through the area, even if it isn't quite on my shortest route. This time we stayed on both the southbound and northbound portions of a road trip. We can't wait to visit again.
There are swankier hotels, but this one offers a top-notch stay for an extremely-reasonable price (lesser hotels elsewhere often charge nearly twice as much).
The rooms and common areas of the hotel are so nicely kept it almost appears the property is brand new, even though it isn't.
The rooms are very quiet - we heard no road noise and no noise from other guests. The bed is top notch - you feel nothing when the other person rolls over. Breakfast offered a good selection, including fresh fruit.
The location is ideal for history buffs. The breakfast room looks over the historic battlefield, and other historic sites are within a short walk. There are also numerous restaurants within a short walk, from fast food to fine dining, including the historic (and highly recommended) Dobbin House Tavern.

My adult son and I recently stayed in Gettysburg to attend a family funeral. As unfortunate a trip it was, our stay at the Best Western on Steinwehr sure made our trip more enjoyable. The convenient location, the hospitality of the staff, and the cleanliness makes this an extraordinarily place to stay. The breakfast offered is amazing (waffles, pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice, muffins, etc.) and a beautiful view of the Battlefield on the third floor. So much thought was put into this location and the maintenance that makes this location so appealing. This is a real gem, don’t miss the opportunity to indulge yourself!

We planned a family visit to Gettysburg for 3 days and chose the Best Western Gettysburg, as it combines a very good location, cost, comfort, cleanliness and free parking. The reception staff is very friendly and attentive, the breakfast that is included is very varied, and the area where it is served has views of the Gettysburg Battlefield. The hotel is located very close to Dobbin House Tavern, Jennie Wade House, East Cemetery Hill and other attractive points of the city. I recommend this hotel to stay when visiting the historic city of Gettysburg.

This is one of the cleanest hotels I've seen. Everything was immaculate, including the carpets. When I checked into my room you could smell the clean sheets. There are plenty of pillow. The employees are all so friendly and helpful. This sits just a short walk from historic Gettysburg; sits across from the battlefield; has local dining fare as well as fast food all around the area; free wifi; easy parking; standard breakfast on the 3rd floor overlooking the battlefield(note: room 233 sits directly under the breakfast area and breakfast is served 6-10 a.m) . Housejeeping is daily unless you put out the do not disturb sign. My recommendation would be having the complimentary toiletries attached to the shower wall ( the full size refillable types that are in most places now).
Food for thought. While carpeted, the floors are hardwood and sound hollow, so the sound travels when you are walking. A previous review talked about kids that ran back and forth and the guests in the adjacent room had just that. I can only imagine what the guests in the room directly underneath theirs thought. Besides that, I didn't find it too bothersome.

Not worth the price. There are several other options nearby I suggest you try them. I booked this hotel based on reviews about the employees being friendly. I did not encounter this at all. Employee refused to honor my request for both extra pillows and a receipt. Same experience at check in and check out. Carpet appeared not to have been entirely vacuumed before we arrived as we found dirt in multiple spots. Also be aware there is NO daily housekeeping "due to a nationwide shortage" however the cost savings of not paying employees to clear/straighten up your room daily IS NOT PASSED ON TO THE CUSTOMER. You have to go to the lobby and hope the employee will decide if you actually need someone that you are requesting. Such as an extra pillow or clean towels. Breakfast is bland. Don't be fooled about the "free breakfast" it is built into the price of the room. You can choose a cheaper option nearby and use that savings to have a nice meal at the crepe place a short distance away or another nearby restaurant. I am actually surprised by the 5-star ratings and this location being #1 in Gettysburg. I do not agree with this rating. I had friendly staying at the Wyndham Gettysburg, and this hotel was more upscale and less costly than the Best Western Gettysburg. If you care about quality, value, respect as a paying customer do not stay at the Best Western Gettysburg. Choose from one of the several other options available.

I am sorry you did not have a great experience at our hotel. Your review is interesting because I communicated with you through email several times and nothing in your review was mentioned about breakfast or the cleanliness of your room. You are correct that we are not offering daily housekeeping due to not having enough staff. Your stay with us was only for 1 night so I am not sure why that would have been an issue for you. From my understanding, we did mention to you that there were 8 pillows in the room for you and your two guests. If that was not enough and you claim we would not give you more I wish you would have asked for me or another manager as there were 2 of us when you checked in. I am also sorry that there was some confusion with you obtaining a receipt. You were leaving a day prior to your regular scheduled date. There was confusion with the desk clerk as to giving you a receipt because you needed to be charged for the night for leaving early as well. Without that charge, your receipt would not show a zero balance. We are always looking for ways to improve our breakfast offerings. Please let us know what you did and did not like so we can look into changes. You are correct, there is an amazing crepe place just down the street from us. For a family of 3 with drinks it would cost about $60 for breakfast.

Visited with my mom and daughter and it was perfect! My daughter vomited on herself on the way there and the very lovely lady at the service desk got us checked in early and gave us extra soap so we could clean up and go enjoy our rest of our afternoon! The rooms are clean, my daughter loved the pool (I would’ve preferred a hot tub of course!), breakfast was great and had a great view, and the price and location is literally unbeatable!

This hotel really is excellent! My family has been visiting Gettysburg for decades, (one of our ancestors fought there) and have stayed at various hotels in the area, but this one is definitely our favorite. For starters, the rooms are kept extremely clean. They have daily housekeeping, and they are fast, efficient, and thorough. The beds and bedding are very clean and very comfortable. The guest swimming pool is a saltwater pool, which is really a nice touch -- clean, warm, and it doesn't burn your eyes. The front desk staff are especially helpful, professional, and friendly -- all of which help make a vacation more enjoyable. They had great tips about local businesses and restaurants, and even mentioned the best setting on the microwave for doing popcorn! Very cheerful and friendly people. This is the second time we've stayed at this location, and God willing we look forward to coming back soon! I highly recommend this hotel!

This hotel is in a great location. We could walk to downtown, as well as sit down restaurants. It is next to the starting point for the auto tour we had downloaded. You are not far from any of the major sites.
The lobby is bright and cheery. The whole place is very clean and comfortable. Coffee and tea available in the lobby was fresh and hot. The fitness center was fine - one of each machine (eliptical, bicycle, treadmill, weights). The pool was good for a cool off - it is indoors and not big enough for laps, but it was so nice to get in and move around at the end of a long drive.
The room had high ceilings and felt very open. The beds were not overly soft - they were firm, but not hard. The linens were clean and crisp. The room had a microwave and fridge - the fridge was a mini-fridge, but not a super small fridge. You could stand up milk/juice/soda bottles. The shower water was hot, and had good pressure. The room decor helped the room look bright, not dark/dreery.
We had a great night sleep, and breakfast was filling. They had all of the standard hotel complimentary breakfast items - waffle makers (2), pancake maker, yogurt, fruit (it was fresh), four juices, coffee, tea, cold boiled eggs, hot eggs, sausage, bread/muffins/english muffins to toast, cereal, oatmeal... The whole family found things to eat, and it saved us having to have another meal on the road.

This hotel is close to Friendly’s, McDonald’s, Appalachian Brewing Company and the National Cemetery. We appreciated being able to walk to a few places and not have to move our car. Breakfast has many options from eggs to oatmeal to yogurt. There is one washing machine and one dryer for a small fee on the second floor. I could hear some doors slamming through the walls in the morning but we were always up early so it wasn’t bothersome. Pillows were better here than our previous nights stay elsewhere. Definitely would stay here again.

This hotel is at the quieter end of Steinwehr Avenue. it is a great location with a wonderful, friendly staff and clean rooms. Every employee acknowledged our presence whether passing in the corridor or leaving the hotel for the day. Although there is no daily housekeeping service, we were able to obtain clean towels by going to the front desk and were offered as many as we needed. A light bulb that needed changed in the bathroom was done within five minutes of our request. We will definitely be back.

We had electronic key cards issued on check-in. Since that was sufficient for our needs, we didn't ask about anything more techie. We sure enjoyed our one night stay there.
Hope this helps. We've stayed at this location 4 times in 5 years. What I've found is that price changes depending on time of year and particularly around the July battle anniversary. I've looked 3 to 4 months in advance and always fid the most accurate on the BW website, instead of the other travel sites, I've also see the range of prices change depending on length of stay, up front payments and the cards you use for example: military AARP, AAA etc
Not when I visited, is open in June, July August will close if thunderstorms are in the area if pool is outdoors. In this case they have an inside pool.
There are more places to choose from in the Gettysburg area.
