Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were quite impressed with Element Philadelphia downtown. First of all the customer service provided by manager Tim Jones was exceptional prior to arrival. The hotel is absolutely well appointed with access to The W next door of which we enjoyed the rooftop lounge/bar area. All staff were courteous at The Element, the bed was super comfortable and cozy, breakfast was decent and above all I would highly recommend the Element. It was also a bonus to learn that it is part of the Marriott as Bonvoy members. With so many options in the area, this was one of 10 that we considered and all in our party agree it was the best!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. It is in a good location - you can walk to pretty much anywhere. Our room was large. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. If someone wanted to stay in Philadelphia, I would certainly suggest this hotel.

I loved my stay at the Element Hotel. The room was conveniently located in the heart of Philadelphia, in walking distance to City Hall, as well as lots of tourist attractions and restaurants. I was here for work and I found the room to be incredibly comfortable with a great view of the city! I loved having the kitchenette in the room and I really enjoyed the delicious breakfast in the lobby each morning. It was one of the best hotel buffet breakfasts that I have ever had. I loved the Chobani yogurt bar, fresh fruit and other options. I also loved the free wine/beer cocktail hour in the lobby in the evenings. Overall I absolutely loved this hotel and would definitely stay here again!

We were fast asleep at 2am when the fire alarm system started going off with the smoke detector flashing. The blaring message and flashing lights kept going; the message repeating that there was a fire in the hotel and not to take the elevators- at top volume. It went on for 35 minutes. No smell of smoke in the hallway. I called the desk. They said it would turn off and not to worry there was no fire. Unfortunately This is not an isolated incident if you read back through the reviews. At least 5 other reviewers mentioned something similar. The next morning I asked the desk in person and they said it was a test of the fire alarm system. At 2 am??? Really?? The people at the desk were nice enough but I think they know what is up and are tired of guests asking questions. Additionally the breakfast is terrible. Hot foods are served cold and are tasteless. There was a gentleman who clearly was not a guest eating breakfast at the buffet - the staff did nothing to stop him. And another man in a do rag was napping in the conversation pit opposite the front desk. I did not think he was a guest either. Although it briefly occurred to me that he might be so tired from the fire alarm incident that he fell asleep on the sofa rather than making it back to his room. The happy hour had marginal wine and beer and cheese slices. Part of our in room coffee maker was missing thus we could not make coffee. The hotel has no ice machine rather they share one with the W next door. Nicely appointed hotel - extremely poorly managed. Enjoy your stay.

We stayed here as a family of four for the Taylor Swift concert. We were only there for one night. It was very clean, the room was huge, service was fantastic. So happy to now have these as part of Marriott. Great location for walking around (although Philly has seen better days).

Luxury in the middle of Philly! Honestly was not expecting much. Valet only, and cars are double parked on the street so that was concerning. BUT once you are inside the hotel you don't know you are in a big city. Hotel is clean and bright. Elevator is fast and solid. The room is amazing. Has refrigerator, cook top, microwave and dishwasher with basic kitchen ware. Bathroom is spacious. Bed is queen and amazing! Really like the couch with work table. Breakfast complimentary and a nice lounge area in the lobby. Really pleased!!!

The hotel is very clean, check-in was smooth. The staff at the desk are very friendly. The plus is the garage right under the hotel ( fee to park), it’s very convenient and has an electric charger which is complementary since it’s a fee to park. Our corner room had an amazing view and I like the mini kitchen. You can hear some noise from the street, however it’s not an issue, I was on the 11th floor.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was pristine and well appointed. The complimentary breakfast was quite nice, better than I would have anticipated. A few hot offerings plus so much more. Our room was spacious and included a kitchen with glass plates and glasses. The check-in was seamless and the staff most friendly. Would we stay again? Absolutely.

You can tell this property try to do as much for their guest as possible. Good and safe location, street can be problematic with congestions but with window closed its not a problem (although i was on the 29th floor, one floor below highest) love the second floor public area, love the direct street to your floor elevator as i hate having to pass front desk each and every time. The two guys at Bfast is very nice, the girl is a bit rude at times, but ALL three is constantly working as Bfast hrs can get very busy! Front desk staff can be a bit rude, i would say 50%. I say that because Phili people during my 5 days stay appears to be very polite! More manners then people in CA! Overall, a very nice property for the price! Considering there are two much higher price hotel on the same block!

We arrived on a Thursday evening around 7 pm. The valet guys weren’t the greatest, and no one offered to help us with the cart to the room, seeing we had a handicapped person in a scooter. Thankfully the female working Sunday morning was a lot more helpful, and there was also a guy who saw us with a full luggage rack which came over to help load everything in our car. The Room was large, with a great view and extra trash cans, which are always a plus. The Bed was a little soft, but I slept well. The shampoo brand in the bathroom smelled weird. The Bathroom needs a vent. The Kitchen was lovely, with plenty of drawers, dishes, etc., with a full fridge/freezer. There was no happy medium with ac. When you turn it off, it’s hot af but when on, it’s freezing even when up the temp. Happy hour only mon-thur not listed on the magnet or online, so we waited for nothing. The valet was fast getting our car out both times we left, but the $60 a day plus all the tips can get pricey. The restaurant is next door by the W (same building, but you have to exit the hotel and go down the sidewalk and reenter to get to it). I loved the chat feature vs. going to the desk to fix issues or ask questions—overall lovely stay in a safe area, but it is downtown, so you will hear car music & horns quite often
