Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the third Marriott Property I've stayed in over the last month. It was also the only one that was downtown....and the differences are clear. The room was tiny (my suite was far smaller than the regular rooms I'd stayed in recently). However, it was comfortable, with two large TVs, and a very up-to-date bathroom. There are two elevators in the hotel; when I was there only one was working (and it is used by guests and hotel employees alike, which can make things very slow....especially when Housekeeping is trying to work). Breakfast is the standard Marriott fare. However, Sunday brunch was wonderful (the space is used by the hotel for breakfast and by a restaurant for the remainder of the day). My biggest complaint, and this is not unique to this hotel is the amount of light in the room at night. The wardrobe had a light that was on 24x7; so did the microwave, the TVs, the coffee maker, etc. Some lights are mandated by codes but most aren't. Hotel designers need to think about how a room looks in the night and that light (as sleep specialists know) is contraindicated for good sleep. The location was convenient and I'd be happy to stay there again.

Visiting Philadelphia for a day, we were in need of a centrally located hotel as a home base for visiting the sites. This Marriott Fairfield property did the job. The rooms are clean and the air-conditioning is wonderful on a hot summer day. The restrooms are tastefully designed. Yes - the rooms are small due to the historic nature of the building. However, we do not go on vacation to sit in a hotel room all day, we just need a clean place to shower and sleep. This property has a historic, notorious past as the sketchy Parker Hotel - a flop house for vagrants and addicts with all of their glorious shenanigans. Thankfully, the Marriott Fairfield brand has done an outstanding job with the remodel. The remodel has maintained the original black and white checkered floors and mailbox by the elevators. Oh - if those floors could talk! The adjoining restaurant has a history as first a pharmacy, then a hopping bar. It now serves as the location for the complimentary morning breakfast provided by the hotel. We were provided with an early check in after arriving on a 10:30am train. All in all, we were satisfied with our stay. The price point was comparable for the area.

On the "Good-Meh-Suck" scale, this is a solid "Meh". The issue is simple, the small rooms are beyond small. It feels like there is a lot of wasted space since the place seems to be a refurbished apartment building (the letter dropbox near the elevator is a hint that it was an apartment building in its previous life). It does have some quirky charm but I found it below par. It did not help that one of the two elevators was out. That was not good. The bed was creaky. The armoire (wardrobe cabinet) was so small that the hangers had to be placed sideways- front to back with the ironing board in the back. Was it terrible? No. Was it great? No. It worked and that was that. Will I return? Likely not unless I have no other options. Points are points however.....

I love it here. Great location, clean and comfy room, complimentary breakfast, fruit water at the front desk and most especially, all staff are friendly and helpful. It’s a unique hotel that is charmingly decorated. I have found my Philly hotel!

This hotel is located in the middle of the city, perfect location! What I enjoyed the most about this hotel was the staff. I work in hospitality, so my expectations are high. This hotel exceeded my expectations. It's an older building, but it has character. I loved the boutique style theme of this hotel. The rooms are cozy, and I loved the art in the hallway. This hotel will be my hotel whenever I return to Philadelphia!

Clean, modern, well equipped room, however the best thing was interaction with the staff. 100% pleasant, friendly, helpful, and cheerful people. Breakfast some better than typical for this class hotel. Very good experience.

I noticed this new Fairfield Inn located in a perfect center city (Washington West/Gayborhood) location, and decided to give it a try, even though I usually stay at Marriott’s higher-end brands. What a TREAT!!! This was a thoughtfully renovated historic building transformed into a GREAT boutique hotel. Hip decor, a fantastic lobby restaurant/bar poplar with non-guests. Rooms are based on a European model, generally “micro” rooms < 500 sf - BUT some research shows that this building has over 200 configurations over about 220 total rooms. There are many options for larger rooms and footprints. Turns out there is a lot of material written in magazines, etc. praising this trend-setting experiment with Marriott and the Fairfield brand. My favorite thing, the high-end functioning divided light windows in black. Super classy. Can’t wait to go back. Charming staff (housekeeping, valets, front desk, breakfast team).

I'm a local but wanted a hotel room in Center City for the evening of the Super Bowl. This was relatively inexpensive and central to where I wanted to be. This property used to be a fleabag hotel, a step above homeless shelter. There was a fire and, after extensive renovation, here we are. My expectations were low but it was better than I feared it would be, more like a boutique hotel than a typical Fairfield. I got what was billed as a small room, because availability was sparse. When they say small room, believe them. Otherwise, room was fine. Only dealt with front desk staff, who were friendly and allowed a pre-noon check-in, which was appreciated. A bit surprised that, as Marriott Gold, there was no acknowledgement, not even a bottle of water. Walls are pretty thin and outside noise really interfered with sleep, even on a higher floor (mostly Super Bowl revelers, so your situation probably won't be as bad.)

This was the perfect location offering a clean room and super friendly staff! Rooms are small but that’s to be expected. Location is walking distance to everything. We were in town to visit a college and see a show. Would definitely use this hotel again for our next trip!

The lobby and rooms are much smaller than the pictures posted. The customer service is non-existent. We weren’t happy with the room we got, it’s much smaller than what we expected, and as an elite member of Marriott we asked for an upgrade. The manager first said the suites are not offered at this location, then she said they are all booked, which one is it? We asked for something that they are able to offer, such as the room with double beds, then they said I have to pay more for that room. So where is the perk for being an elite member? Also there is not lotion in the room. The front desk person has an attitude.
