I am visiting Philadelphia for the first time and chose Aloft as my first hotel to stay in. I came in on 8/5/23 at 2:30pm ish. Me and my husband has been up since 5:00am since we drove in from New York and did sightseeing before checking in. So, we tried checking in at 2:30pm but they wouldn't let us, which is fine. So we tried again checking in at 3:00pm but they said room is not ready, come back in 10/15 minutes. We came back at 3:15pm to be told that room is still not ready. Little did I know, we have been waiting for more than an hour to check in. The check in time is supposed to be at 3:00pm. The excuses they come up with is that room is not ready. 3:00pm check in is already late as it is. I am telling you guys do not stay in Aloft Philadelphia Downtown! They will make you wait for more than an hour to check in. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STAYING AT THIS HOTEL

So, we came to the hotel at 2:30pm on 8/5/23 and per hotel check in is at 3:30pm. We thought they were able to accomodate us for being 30 minutes early but nope. The front desk said room will be ready around 3:00pm. And 3:00pm room is still not ready, they said it will be ready in 10/15 mins. We went to the front desk again at 3:15pm, the lady in white long sleeve shirt said, "Did I call you?" I said no but I would like to check on the status of my room. I thought that was a bit rude, no hospitality whatsoever. We have been so patience but waiting for more than an hour to check in is unacceptable especially for a 3 star hotel. On top of making us waiting, our wives are pregnant. They did not even apologize for us waiting for more than an hour. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. The front desk workers seems they don't have any idea how to work in the hospitality industry. They make you feel horrible wanting to check in your room. Again, I repeat, please do not stay at this hotel.

Unfortunately, to increase profits, the owner's have made a decision to continue to utilize COVID-19 as an excuse to not hire enough housekeeping. We were greeted by being told they would not be cleaning our room during our 3-day stay. We are 3 adult men who traveled to Philadelphia to engage in sporting activity for two days during 90 degree weather. After one day, we ran out of liquid soap, liquid shampoo, tissue and toilet paper (these had clearly not been re-stocked prior to our arrival). One of us has a chronic illness which caused a need to change bed linen. It never happened. There is no restaurant and we had to bring food back to the room...it needed vacuuming. It never happened. We also paid for 2 queen beds, we got double beds. Well the response to our needs, which were made known multiple times in person and on the phone was very poor. The staff they had was often stern and true customer service, was scarce indeed. We did end up getting additional towels, toilet paper tissue, soap and shampoo...in dribs and drabs. The promised bed change (we only asked to have the linen changed on one of the two beds) never happened. The vacuuming never happened. Oh, and parking? $65/day...LOL I parked on the street through the entire weekend and never received a ticket despite not always keeping up with Parkmobile...a silver lining. I judge hotels based on price...and at this price point, I expect a lot more indeed.

Hello Sidney, Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us. Your feedback is extremely valuable as it allows us to directly address and improve the areas in which we have fallen short. We are sincerely regretful to read about the multiple inconveniences you experienced during your stay. Firstly, we sincerely apologize for the issues that you encountered with regards to the cleanliness and upkeep of your room. Understandably, it would have been frustrating not to have daily housekeeping, especially during a longer stay in hot weather, followed by strenuous activities. It is not the norm to be lacking crucial amenities such as liquid soap, shampoo, tissue, and toilet paper upon arrival, and we take your feedback about this seriously. We understand that these necessities can greatly impact your comfort level, and we regret that your room was not adequately prepared. Secondly, we regret that your experience with our customer service did not meet expectations. Our intention is always to make guests feel valued and promptly take care of their needs, but it appears this was not your experience. The situation with the bed linen and the lack of vacuuming are indeed concerning, particularly as we aim for a high level of cleanliness for all of our guests. We appreciate your feedback regarding the sleeping accommodations failing to match your booking. It is disappointing to hear of the discrepancy between what you had reserved – queen beds – and what you actually received, which were double beds. This is clearly not up to the standard we aim for, and we apologize for this misunderstanding. We are committed to improving our services and hope that you might consider giving us another opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities in the future. Again, we appreciate your review, and we apologize that your stay was not up to the standard that you and we would expect.

In April, I booked a Corner Room w/ 2 Queen beds at Aloft Philadelphia Downtown for an overnight stay from July 12th -13th 2023. Upon my 3:00pm arrival yesterday, I was told by the Front Desk Manager- that my room had been given away and she would comp me two rooms at the price of one. ($302.56) Also, she said there would be a one-time charge of $175 for incidentals that would be released back to me upon check-out. The total would be $475.56. (Coincidentally, the manager's outfit for the Beyonce concert arrived while I was standing there. I believe she cancelled my room to keep it for herself so she & friends could use it to get ready for the concert.) My party and I were assigned rooms 1401 and 1408. This morning when I awakened, I found that my card had been charged not only for the room but also four separate transactions of $175 totaling $700. That number later became five separate charges of $175 totaling $875, as another charge of $175 came through to my bank not long after my having spoken to the aforementioned manager . (One charge came through to my bank as I stood before this manager and she said she couldn't see it on her end and didn't know where the charge had come from.) When I first made the manager aware of the overages, she said she would comp me the two valet fees and provide me a receipt for the first two charges so that I could then call Truist to have them make that money immediately available to me, as the extra charges had now thrown my account into overdraft. She first sent me an email which I forwarded to my bank. They could not accept that letter as proper documentation. So, I then called the manager again, this time with Truist on conference call and she assured me and the Truist representative that she would send the detailed receipts and letter immediately. That was at about 11:20am this morning. At 12 noon I was waiting in the lobby for Truist to verify that they had received the doc. That is when the new charge came through and the manager said she had no idea where it had come from. I had waited as long as I could and finally had to leave to start driving back to DC. I asked the manager for a receipt. The receipt she provided not only had a different room rate but it did not have any of the five charges of $175. She said this was because they were not technically charges but conditional holds. I countered that they should still be documented because they were immediately debited from my account. At 12:45pm this afternoon, I received a call back from Truist saying that at 12 noon today my card had been charged again. The representative further explained that they had only received a letter refunding one of the four original holds (this is not even counting the fifth new charge), so whereas the bank was to remove the two charges discussed, now they can only remove one. I incurred over $875 in unforeseen charges (and fraudulent activity) which not only inconvenienced me and my guests but also impacted the trip. I have reported the fraudulent activity to my bank and will definitely be alerting my fellow professionals and travelers via social media and my networks.

Hello and thank you for your feedback. First, we are sorry for not being able to give you the specific room type that you reserved. We try our very best to accommodate every room type request but unfortunately there are times when our options are limited and we cannot accommodate. We also want to apologize for the unnecessary authorization to your credit/debit card. Our standard procedure at check-in is to authorize the card for the guest room charge and $175 for incidentals . This is only an authorization, not a complete charge from the hotel. The $175 authorization is automatically released if there are not incidental charges to your room. Unfortunately if a debit card is used, the bank will completely hold the funds in the account to ensure that the money is there if needed and it is their discretion on when the funds are release back in to the account. The fact that there were multiple authorizations is perplexing and we are looking into where the error is so that we can ensure it will not happen again. Our overall goal is to deliver a friendly and welcoming experience when you check in to our hotel. We very much want to you feel comfortable and relaxed so that you can enjoy your stay with us. Clearly, we have failed your and our own expectations at this particular point in time. We pride ourselves in taking care of our guests so that they can enjoy their visit to Philadelphia. Obviously we failed to meet this standard and are sincerely sorry. We hope this will not deter you from considering a the Aloft Philadelphia Downtown whenever your travels bring you back to area. We would welcome the opportunity to get it right and for you to truly experience a great stay at our hotel.

This hotel appears to be nice enough, but what they do not warn you about is that there is construction happening on the outside of the building every single day starting at 8:30 in the morning. As I write this, our entire room is extremely loud and vibrating. It's like someone holding a jackhammer right next to your head. We were in desperate need of sleep, and were not able to sleep. I am supposed to be working remotely from this hotel, and it is not possible to concentrate or take calls. When I asked to be moved, the staff were kind, but they told me that there's nowhere in the hotel that they can guarantee construction won't be happening. It is not the staff members' fault, of course, but it is extremely unethical that this hotel stays open and charges full price for rooms where guests cannot sleep, cannot work, and cannot enjoy themselves due to extreme levels of construction noise. They do not even warn guests aside from a small sign in the hotel room once guests have already arrived and paid. This should be illegal. Do NOT stay here without asking whether the construction is still happening.

Curiosity19103957859, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely regret to hear about the challenges you faced during your stay due to the noise and commotion from the ongoing external construction. We understand how vital tranquility and peace are to our guests, especially when they are in need of rest or are working remotely. We assure you that we empathize with your experience of having your day disrupted. Our foremost priority is to provide a welcoming and comfortable environment for our guests, and it is clear that your experience was not up to our usual standards. We appreciate your understanding towards our staff. While they provided sympathetic service in a challenging situation, we're sorry to hear that a more satisfactory resolution couldn't be found, given the pervasive nature of the noise from the construction activities. We genuinely hope to have another opportunity to provide you with the experience you expected and beautiful memories to go home with. Your perspective provides us with priceless insight and a chance to improve. Thank you again for your honest feedback, and we wish you all the best in your future travels.

Great location. Nice hotel. Better than most ALofts we have stayed in other places. Staff was very accommodating. Ideally located for touring Philly. Showers were out of both shampoo and body wash when we arrived but front desk took care of it right away.

Great location downtown. Near City Hall and Love Park. 5 minute walk to Reading Terminal Market, 20 minute walk to Old City. Small, clean, and comfortable room for one night. Bathroom is on the small side for sure. But for what we needed for one night, the location was perfect for us. We did not use valet, and instead parked in the Convention Center garage (that parking is TIGHT!) and reserved a spot on Spothero. It is right across the street from the hotel and was under $30.

This is a terrible hotel. Kyona is the worst manager I have ever encountered. When I arrived, I presented my ID which clearly had my name. There was some confusion because I had booked two nights, but the clerk only saw one. I thought "mistakes happen". So I finally got my room key. I went to my room and turned on the light. I saw a pair if jeans hanging over the chair and I though "someone forgot their jeans" until a man woke up from the bed and said "can I help you?" I was in Steven's room, not David's! I immediately went down to the front desk and complained. The clerk called the manager "Kyona" who immediately had an attitude. She said "sir, we have 4 people with the last name Miller staying in the hotel tonight". I will paraphrase her snotty attitude "we make mistakes, so deal with it!" Is all that is required to stay in a room at this property to have a last hame? Do they book all people named "Smith" or "Jones" in the same room? If it was a woman staying in the room, I can only imagine the terror of someone barging into her room because management doesn't care enough to assign the correct room or room key. Marriott, you need to train this property's staff. It is terrible. Keyona needs to be fired tomorrow!

This place is fantastic. It was right next to the convention center which was perfect for my reason for traveling. That said my trip took a like twists and turns but the staff at this hotel were so helpful and accommodating. (I do not say this lightly!) They all deserve the absolute best in all they do and whatever crosses their path. The beds were super comfy. The shower had wonderful water pressure. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Disappointing and uncomfortable. This Aloft tries to look chic and modern but it doesn't provide the same comfort and amenities of other Aloft hotels. Upon closer inspection, the rooms and bathroom are dirtier and need some attention. Additionally, in June 2023, when all other hotels are offering daily housekeeping, this hotel only offers it every 3 days! The staff is nice but not super responsive to requests, like extra toilet paper and pillows. There is a coin-operated washer and dryer. The fitness room is quite small. The elevators are very slow. The one thing this hotel has going for it, is that it is walking distance to Old Philadelphia, the convention center, and Reading Terminal Market. Otherwise, I wouldn't stay again.

Melanie, thank you for providing your feedback about your stay. It's disheartening to learn that your experience didn't meet your expectations and that there were several shortcomings during your visit. We apologize for the dissatisfaction you experienced with the cleanliness of your room and bathroom. Our team is committed to maintaining high standards and will ensure that these concerns are addressed promptly. In terms of housekeeping services, our hotel has taken this feedback seriously and will continue to evaluate and improve our policies to better serve our guests. We appreciate your kind words about our friendly staff but regret to hear that they weren't as responsive as they should have been to your requests for additional items.
