The Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square garners praise for its prime location and inviting atmosphere, with modern touches that guests find chic and luxurious. Travelers appreciate the cleanliness and the hotel's amenities, such as the spacious bathrooms. However, some guests have called out the need for room renovations and better housekeeping attention to detail. While the service is generally celebrated for its professionalism, issues with room service and noise disruptions from construction have been noted. Additionally, concerns regarding value for money and hidden fees have left some travelers dissatisfied.

We had a great stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is in a fun, safe neighbourhood with lots of restaurants, and close to all the historical attractions.
We were upgraded to an amazing room.
Be sure to visit Ivan the concierge, He is the best. He spent time with us, going over the map of the area and recommending attractions and restaurants. He has an extensive up to date list with great tips.
We walked everywhere but took transit to the Flyers hockey game which was easy.
Will stay here again.
We were given drink coupons but the bar closed "early" on Sunday night. Also had a free snack time for guests.
Fun attraction tip: the Mint is free and down the street from the Liberty Bell.

I chose this hotel due to it's proximity to an event I was attending so for us it was a great location, just off the park and close to shopping too. The valet and front desk staff were welcoming, helpful, and attentive. I liked that they have a variety of larger room options and our King suite with a living room was exactly as pictured. I also appreciate the little amenities like bathrobes and slippers, nespresso in our room, q-tips and cotton in the bathroom, etc. A few little things that make my rating a 4 instead of 5. There are maintenance issues, like the sliding door between the room and the bathroom that's super loud and clunky, water/mold stains in the corners in the bathroom, the sink that makes loud clunking noises after you turn the water off. Although we appreciated the portions sizes of the room service breakfast, the tray was missing basics like salt & pepper and ketchup. They gave us 4 kinds of jam, but no bread. Little things like that. Overall a good stay.

The Sofitel is definitely one of the best 4-star hotels in the Philadelphia area. I chose this hotel despite having high tiers in both Bonvoy and IHG. None of the hotels in the area (Westin, Kimpton, Notary, etc) really could compare to the Sofitel in terms of cleanliness, available amenities, and value.

Overall, the entire team (including security, front desk, valet, housekeeping; with special shoutouts to Maxime and Natalie at the front desk) at this hotel is highly competent and really understands and implements the principles of hotel hospitality.

9/10 Room: plenty of closet space, spacious, tasteful decor, and very practical bathroom with shower and tub (see room for improvement)

10/10 Available in-room amenities: slippers, large fridge (not the minis), microwave, Nespresso (Vivalto lungo, appregio decaf, intense ristretto) or Keurig (green mountain coffee, tea) depending on room type

10/10 Bath amenities: Lanvin and Hermes shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and soap depending on room type. These all smell amazing!!

Gym: Closed due to COVID

Room for improvements: some parts of the rooms are showing signs of age and use, room gets dusty after a couple days, room is a little dim near the vanity area, office chair is not the most comfortable

We stayed a couple of nights in the Sofitel Philadelphia and were very pleased with the location of the hotel as well as the service. There are many excellent restaurants walking distance from the hotel, we also walked to all the must see sights of Philly. The staff of the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful, the room was beautiful (we got an upgrade which was much appreciated). Having stayed in many hotels over the last year I was pleasantly surprised that the room was cleaned early without having to request it (somehow with the pandemic getting rooms cleaned seems to be difficult). Speaking of the pandemic, appreciated that the staff wore masks and precautions for guests' safety were taken.

Stayed at Sofitel...from the moment we arrived the valet service was on point! Specifically Mykyta and the valet manager (Rich) were super helpful and genuinely amazing people to interact with. They went above and beyond recommending restaurants and local bars where the food was phenomenal (the Dandelion...get the fish and chips, you will not be disappointed!)The service carried through to the front desk where I was greeted by Max who is the sweetest human. Even when we left the next morning we were pleasantly greeted by Lashaya with a how was your stay? And a thank you for staying with us, come back and visit! The entire staff was super conscience about social distancing, disinfecting and wearing masks. In this crazy and sometimes scary time, they made our stay feel like home. Would absolutely recommend. I cannot say enough good things and because of the people mentioned, we plan on coming back sooner than later!

I chose the Sofitel to propose to my girlfriend (now fiancee...SHE SAID YESS! :) ). The concierge, Orlando, front desk staff and bar manager who were a big part of the planning were incredibly helpful! Every last detail was meticulously organized and then some, including a complimentary upgrade and drinks on the house, desserts and bubbly to mark the occasion and beautiful rose petals and candles lighting up the room. Overall, an absolutely unforgettable experience. So glad we picked Sofitel for this; the entire team really went out of their way to make it an extremely special occasion for us! I strongly recommend the Sofitel and would definitely return! !

I have stayed in this hotel for the last seven years or so. Whilst the hotel still offers good service in most areas, with staff who are alert, well trained and attentive, without being intrusive, the one area that has degraded, particularly over the last two years, is the prompt attention to room housekeeping. No matter how early you go out and place the “Make up my room”, sign on the door, the room is not touched until about 17:00 or later. The housekeeping standard is still ok, it’s just the service timing that needs to be fixed.

Like 713evea, I was immediately turned off upon check-in. The gentleman who confirmed our reservation was pushing up-sells to our room. When we declined he became a bit less pleasant. He quickly completed our check in process and told us that our room would be near the elevator and we could hear noise. I felt as though he was punishing us for not taking his bait and accepting an upgraded room.

The room was extremely spacious, decked out in very high end bath amenities. However, it seemed a bit dated. The hallways are quite tired looking. We noticed that the carpeting was sagging in many places, but it was clean.

At about 5:15 on Thursday evening we got back into the elevator to roam town. There was a Butterfinger wrapper on the floor of the elevator. When we got back to the hotel at 10:30 that night, the wrapper was STILL on the floor! Where is the upkeep, guys?

For all intents and purposes the stay was fine. Nothing more than that. I cannot understand how this hotel is ranked 6th, other than its unbeatable location. We usually stay at the Logan Curio on the Parkway and will continue to do so, going forward.

When we left, I checked my email and saw my bill. We were charged $15.00 from the honor bar - and we did not use a thing! I called the hotel back and spoke to Samar at the front desk. She sounded as if she did not believe me, but deigned to reach out to the Honor Bar manager to inform him or her.

Overall, good enough but not at all worthy of the ranking. I expected better.

We had a wonderful stay here while visiting family. The location is perfect for accessing everything in the Rittenhouse area. They staff were friendly. They were very well set up to handle extra cleaning and distancing during the pandemic. The updated rooms are spacious and modern and very comfortable. Our dog loved it, too :-)

This was my first hotel stay during COVID. The room seemed clean. Room 620. The halls and elevators were usually empty. The bathroom was large. The front desk was efficient. The location is perfect. Our room was ready quite early. The noise level was nonexistent. The room had a Coffeemaker.

What could improve?

A bathroom with a sink, tub, and separate shower could have more than one small cake of soap.

A $100 incidentals charge seems excessive.

The doorman, when asked about a cab for departing guests with luggage, could offer to summon one instead of sending us two blocks away.

It's about a 5-min cab ride from the art museum. You could walk to the art museum, too. Go left out of the hotel on 17th Street until you hit the BF Parkway. Go left and enjoy a lovely walk down the Parkway until you hit the museum,.
