We drove through Death Valley, returning from the Grand Canyon, on our way back to the Bay Area. We just happened to be there on a record-breaking heat day; it was 126 degrees, but I found it very comfortable! Dry, dry heat. The pool was sparkling and the night sky was breathtaking. The family company that owns this hotel and the complex across the street has been pouring money into an amazing shopping and restaurant area with an additional hotel. Perhaps it was the heat contrasted against the pool water and grass, but the entire day and night in one of the casitas was a magical experience.
