Detailed Reviews
Web site made the rooms and grounds look great, of course. Grounds were not bad but not impressive either; grounds maintenance seemed to be sporadic; lawn areas were not mowed when we checked in on a Friday. Stayed three nights, and noticed an abandoned shopping cart that seemed to have not moved in a while. I think the grounds may have previously been traversed by persons not staying at the hotel, as the location is right across the street from the beach, which was a great plus. Same for the beer bottle someone dropped in a planter that had no plants.
Hotel staff was very personable, and greeted our dog along with us at check in.
We did have an issue with a leak from the room above; seems like the shower leaked internally somehow, as the carpet in our closet got wet.
Interior decor was nice but a bit dark in color. Gas fireplace was nice in the room they moved us to, after we asked to be moved due to the lead and wet carpet.
Mattresses were super comfy!
Great location to walk to the beach, a nice restaurant for dinner, a brewery, a cool breakfast spot, and the main street in town.
Outdoor furniture on the room patios wasn't the nicest either; a bit on the cheap side, given the price of the room per night.
The saddest part is the history of the place, which is very cool, but the construction of the freeway totally ruined the site, as there is now no view to the ocean from a lot of the property. There is neat building that was obviously architecturally interesting back in the day, but that part of the whole property is not in use and is not maintained; very sad. That building was totally ruined by the construction of the freeway.
The restaurant that used to be on-site was closed; there was no mention of it when we checked in, and no signs saying it would be re-opening. There was an area of the center building under renovation, so we were not sure what was being renovated.
There are also 3 small cottages on the site, with a nice little garden area with roses and some outdoor seating for each cottage.
A nice place in a great location, but needs help right now. Hope they will be able to continue with improvements in the near future, and make it worthy of the historic hotels designation again.

I live in the area and I just can't get enough of the beach, scenery and vibe of Ventura/Oxnard. We stayed here for one night to celebrate an early Valentines Day and the customer service was excellent. Gabriel, the concierge, was friendly, gracious and gave us a few upgrades since the hotel had availability on a Thursday night. This is one of the few gems that you can see, hear and feel the beach while staying at such a reasonable price.

We booked a night for my birthday. My Boyfriend actually called ahead of time to have a florist deliver flowers to the hotel… Once the flowers were delivered to the hotel… He called the hotel and spoke to somebody at the front desk and asked that they please have the flowers we put in the room before we checked in… As they were supposed to be a surprise. Whoever he spoke to at the front desk assured him that they would definitely be in the room before we had checked in. We arrived on Friday to check in… Due to Covid, we had to wait in line which we had no problem doing… Though there were two people at the front desk with two computers… But only one person was checking everyone in. Everyone in line noticed and didn’t understand why the one girl was just standing around doing nothing… It also did not seem as if she was in any kind of training. We finally got to the front desk to check in… I was asked my name… Once given my name… The man had said “Oh this must be for you“. And handed me a vase of flowers. Again… I had no idea about these flowers as they were supposed to be a surprise. My boyfriend had said out loud… “Wow these were supposed to already be in the room“. The person at the front desk said nothing… Did not apologize… Nothing. As we walked out… A couple behind us said how rude It was of him not to even take into consideration that somebody had messed up. I felt horrible for my boyfriend. It was a simple request that they couldn’t fulfill. I actually sent an email last night… And have yet to receive any type of response.

I can't believe all of these positive reviews. This place is right on the very loud freeway - we could hear it both through the window (facing the freeway), as well as through the front door to our room (NOT facing the freeway). Our "Ocean View Room" was really looking directly at the busy freeway, with some ocean view in the distance. It appears that they are under renovation right now, but honestly there is no way that this place hasn't been run down and disheveled appearing for at least 2 years, so I do not think the renovations are to blame for the state of this place. The front desk staff were not friendly, and had some attitude, maybe partly because the front office is actually an old, dark room of the hotel right now. The room itself was OK, but upon arrival there was a large greasy spot on the headboard - disgusting! It was easily wiped off with my disinfectant wipes, so it is clear it hadn't even been wiped down. And this was during the COVID time when housekeeping should be even more vigilant. This is a pretty good location, near the beach, but of course you have to walk under said freeway to get there. I did a lot of shopping around, and this price was only slightly better than other beachfront hotels, but not by much, and I paid way too much for a place like this (over $200). I would never consider staying here again, in fact we really considered leaving this place upon arrival and just paying twice for the night.

This inn is disgusting - my 7-month pregnant wife and I booked it as a little baby moon getaway, and the first night we checked in, the room smelled like sewage. We called the front desk and they told us the only other rooms available were in an area they compared to a "Dungeon"... naturally we weren't inclined to transfer to one of those rooms. So we went down to their restaurant for a quick bite, and they proceeded to charge us double price for my happy hour drinks, something they only remedied when my wife pointed it out. The next morning when we woke up, the entire bathroom was crawling with ants. We decided to check out early, but the hotel staff refused to refund us for the rest of the stay, saying that since they offered us an alternate room (in the "Dungeon," I'll remind you) they didn't need to waive our whole fee. It wasn't until I forced the front desk staff to get the manager on the phone that they did anything about it. The whole place is gross and feels very much like a scam. Buyer beware.

There were 3 of us so we booked a king suite w/1 king bed & a sofa sleeper. The sofa was obviously old cuz the piping was popping out of the cushions in a couple of places. When I opend the sleeper the mattress was horrible! It was paper thin & you were laying right on the springs. I called the front desk to ask if they could get a new mattress or get one from another room. I spoke with a girl. She said she would see what she could do, and we went out for the day. When we returned I called again to see what had been done. This time I spoke with a guy named Stephen. He had no idea what I was talking about so obviously the issue had not been relayed to the next shift. He went on to tell me, with some attitude, that they could not get a new mattress or take a mattress from another room. I asked if there were any other suites available, he said no. I said I was paying for a room to sleep 3 people comfortably. He was unapologetic and showed no concern. His attitude was, too bad you're stuck with it, and we hung up. A few minutes later another person named Joey called and said they had a queen suite available, same type of room but with 2 queens instead of 1 king, and I was welcome to check out the sofa sleeper. Joey was very nice and very apologetic. That mattress was not great but was doable so we switched rooms. It was right down the hall from the room we were in so we still had the ocean view, tho not as good. But why did Stephen say there were no other rooms available, then suddenly there were? The first morning there we woke up to ANTS on the nightstand. The day we were checking out the bathroom (toilet & shower area) was loaded with ants! GOBS of them! All around the shower, toilet, on the floor and walls. We could not even shower before we left. The toilet/shower area was large and roomy but a lot of empty space. There was no cabinet or bench to put your clothes on while you were showering. The shower was also large but had only one tiny little basket/shelf to put soap or shampoo, etc. on. There was barely room for both. The sink area, which was separate, had no towel bar or ring to hang a towel on and there was only one sink. You would expect a suite to have 2 sinks. There was tile missing from the bathroom baseboard leaving a hole in the wall and the grout was old and chipping. The main room and the bedroom were both very large and roomy. But the heat did not work very well in the bedroom.

We checked in late and assumed we'd be staying in the room pictured on the website: new, fresh with peaceful views of the ocean. When we checked in we were given the key to a tiny room that reeked of cigarettes, with a person smoking right next to our room on the walkway. Not a great first impression. The front desk staff was very kind to move us to another room far away from the smoke. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable but it was right on the very loud freeway - we could hear it both through the window ALL NIGHT LONG. Our "Ocean View Room" was not what we had. It appears that they are under renovation right now-checking in was weird, the check in desk was tucked back in behind the laundry in an old hotel room. It was so hard to find our room, we wandered around for at least 20 minutes. By the time we got in it was so late we didn't want to ask for the ocean view non-smoking room we paid for. Maybe this will change when the renovations are done, but be aware the pictures on the website are not even close and the freeway is right there, no beach access or view.

Nice place! Cute historic hotel overlooking beach (and highway) . I was nervous about recent reviews but our experience has been really good. Comfy beds, nice pool area, great location. We opted in for texting service and they checked in with us to make sure we were comfortable, also requested fresh towels, coffee and trash removal which they responded to and took care of quickly. Highway noise might bother some but we found the white noise soothing along with the waves. Pretty event area and beautiful landscaping. Would definitely recommend.

Although three generations of our family have stayed at Pierpont Inn, we will not be returning. The class and hospitality are long gone. Employees are rude and rarely answer the phones. Massive tree work blocking the office to check into property. They didn’t stop while we passed and hit us with tree particles. The best part is they charged our credit card $20.00 for a washcloth with makeup from simple face washing. Management needs to get back to being a professional run business that caters to making their guests feel safe and comfortable while there

It shocks the conscience that management of this facility would have such little regard for the peace and comfort of their paying guests! We PAID for a suite. We got one alright! It was on top of a pavilion they rent out for events. They booked a reception with hundreds of guests with a DJ playing loud music until 11pm. I am not exaggerating when I say the entire suite shook in the building which was built in the early 1900'S. To add insult to injury, they broke down the tables and chairs immediately following the event. No one in that building got any sleep until past midnight. "Guest Service" won't answer the phone or return text messages to discuss the problem. I tried for 2 days! The facility is old, lacks any sound proofing, and is right next to the freeway. If you are looking for a place to get some sleep, I advise you to pass on the Pierpont!

The beach is literally across the street from hotel. It's not a far walk but with 3 toddlers , depending on their age, you can drive and park in the underground parking at the Hilton which is on the beach and which is literally a block from pierpont.
I didn't asked for the a suite by the name, just asked for a nice room with the ocean view. I had no idea there is name for it. The best think to call the hotel and will help you.
Good location nice "old design" and pleasant people.
