Detailed Reviews
I spent 10 nights with my partner between late December and early January.
Our first impression was that the reception staff seemed very serious and unfriendly.
The few times we approached the reception that feeling was the same, it did not invite you to make an stop in the reception.
The room, Superior King, although small and with a few space for clothes (it was a winter trip) and luggage, had recently been renovated and had incredible views of the Chrysler Building from one side and the Empire State Building from the other. It was equipped with a small refrigerator and a drawer to store food, a point.
During our stay, out of the 10 nights our bedding only was changed 3 days. The last 4 nights we spent without having clean bedding. We requested it at the reception one first time and when we came back at night the duvet had simply been stretched, the bedding still had a bloodstain of us. The next morning we asked again for a bedding change, as it had not been done last day, and when we returned at night the same thing had happened, the duvet had been stretched and there was the bloodstain. On the last night we had given up on asking for the bedding. Even so, the cleaning of the room and bathroom was good.
The hotel has a breakfast room, which we had included in our rate, but we only had 2 of the 9 mornings, as it was scarce and not very tasty so we preferred to go to some other business to enjoy breakfast or brunch.
Emphasize the location; close by you can find many restaurants, coffee-shops, subway and as well as major avenues and streets.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review, Inachitti. It is disheartening to hear that your stay with us was less than satisfactory. We are thrilled that you were able to take advantage of our convenient location during your trip, however we regret that our staff didn't provide you with the top-notch service that we are so accustomed to giving. The lack of attention you received when you requested new bedding is absolutely unacceptable, and will be addressed with the appropriate members of our housekeeping staff moving forward. In addition, we will contact our food and beverage team with your feedback regarding our breakfast selection as we truly value your feedback. We do hope you give us another opportunity to share a more positive experience with you soon.

Booked this hotel via Amoma unfortunately Amoma went bust and the hotel booking we paid Amoma for was cancelled by them, We arrived to be told that the reservation was cancelled ? Not the words you want to hear after a long flight form London.
Well the receptionist was very helpful and arranged another hotel for that night as they were fully booked, and she booked us back in the hotel @ New York City for the other two nights, We got a cab and were checked in to the alternative hotel within an hour so it was not a complete nightmare apart from paying rack rates ? I will need to sort out with my credit card company.
The hotel was fine,Rooms ok, Quiet enough Breakfast was basic but done the job,We had a show to watch at the hula theatre in madison square garden which is why we chose this hotel as it is on 161 Lexington Avenue only a 10 minute walk. But was quite a distance to Central Park and Times Square etc.
Many thanks for your help hotel @ New York City during our problems, we would stay again if we needed to visit that area again.

The hotel is clean and comfortable. Wifi works well, beds are comfy, nice showers. The location is definitely the best part of the hotel. Just a few blocks away from the Empire State building (you might even catch a glimpse from your room if you're lucky). Close to the subway, loads of restaurants and cafes. The street below is a bit noisy (because it's NYC!) so you might want to pack a pair of ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. Slight downside is the rooms don't have cups, water or any beverage options, so make sure to bring your own water. There is a coffee machine in the lobby. In any case, if you're looking for an affordable place to stay that's comfy and in a great location, I highly recommend The Hotel @ NYC!

Had a normal 3 night stay and the bed was comfortable and the room was clean but the service at the service at the front desk was horrible. The price seemed fine until they charge you double the nightly price in facility fees for wifi and breakfast, and their WiFi does not work at all and their breakfast consists of a bagel, toast, and cereal. They have TV's in the room that are nice but have no way of playing live TV. You have to connect your phones to the TV or buy movies, which would be fine but the TV's do not actually connect to the phones properly so there is no watching TV. The nightly price that is advertised on the apps and website is the quality of stay you will receive, but the fees you pay once you are here (which is double the amount you are seeing) is just outrageous.

We appreciate the feedback, L4826IAalexanderl. We regret to hear that you were not fully satisfied by your time with us. It's great that you enjoyed our comfort and cleanliness, but we're disappointed that you were not pleased by the service of our front desk team. It's unfortunate you were caught off guard by some of the fees associated with your booking. It's disappointing you didn't notice the fees previously. In no way do we intend on hiding it from our guests as the information is readily available on our website. We're also disappointed to hear you were not satisfied by our TVs, and that our amenities didn't exceed your expectations. We'll be sure to pass this along to the appropriate members of our team for future improvement. Thanks again for sharing your feedback. We're always looking for ways to improve our guests' experiences and we intend on using your concerns to do just that.

During Coronavirus we checked into Hotel NewYork and the front desk attendant due to low occupancy tried to convince us because we booked through a 3 rd party site and she tried to get us to pay full fee through the hotel due to how cheap we paid. Once we asked to see if the confimation came through from Hotel . com we were able to find it and she became irate and began to get rude and cough and sneeze and say I don't have coronavirus come back tomorrow. It was a horrible experience and we dread it totally beware of this cheating and disgusting woman.

The room was very nice and the location was really good but we had an unpleasant surprise at the time of checking in. There is a mandatory hotel fee of 40 dollars per night which appears at some point of the reservation process but it is not obvious. Apparently that is common thing in NY but the one in this hotel is double than usual. I guess it's a way to rank better in the booking sites.

Good value hotel at a good location. Closest subway stop a couple blocks away and times square almost at a walking distance. Hotel was under renovation which did not bother us in any way. We got to use a gym for free one block away which was very good. Hallways and rooms in the hotel felt a little bit outdated, but did not bother us too much. Rooms were very well cleaned every day. During the night you will hear a lot of noises coming from the street, luckily we were prepared and had earplugs with us. Highly recommend having earplugs during your stay. Breakfast was very basic and could be improved.

Very nice breakfast and clean, nice rooms. Excellent WiFi. Extremely comfortable beds. I really enjoyed my stay here except for my room being right next to a very loud construction zone, which probably should have warranted a discount, though I didn't ask for one. I also think resort fees are a joke in general but especially here since it's certainly not a resort.

Rrally uncomfortable rooms. Not enough space for even hanging a jacket. New York hotel rooms are small but this one is even smaller than NY standards shower is si tiny . So difficult to take a shower. Low quality of renovation. In the pictures you think it is a modern style high quality hotel!
