Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of the city, the Courtyard New York Manhattan / Times Square generally impresses guests with its prime location and clean, quiet accommodations. While the rooms are appreciated for their cleanliness, some guests have called out their cramped quarters and dated decor. Service quality receives mixed reactions; staff friendliness is often noted, though inefficiencies and communication lapses are points of contention.
Despite essential amenities meeting guests' basic needs, concerns over A/C functionality and average breakfast offerings surface. Travelers frequently question the hotel's value for money, citing high prices for an experience that sometimes falls short of expectations.

Detailed Reviews
Great staff. Good location and convenient to several subway lines and all the theaters.
Very secure building and requires your room key to use the elevators. Unlike a couple Hilton properties in the area I normally stay at, they have Kuerig machines in the room which is great and also unlike Hilton they will do daily housekeeping if you want and leave plenty of towels in the room.
Only complaint was the wifi is very slow. Was almost like being on dial up at times and I hate to connect to my iphone to stream Netflix. I selected the wrong option and it wouldn’t allow me to disconnect and get on the premium. Premium may work a lot better, but this was fortunately a personal trip but would have been irritating if this was a business trip and I was making zoom calls.

A return back to our hometown with the lil ones and wanted that city feel! This place was tucked in the perfect spot to get around. Bryant Park, Joe's Pizza for the tourist stuff... walking distance to Grand Central, Carmines, local Banks, stores and numerous subways. Check in was smooth, rooms kept any outside noise out, AC pumped , water pressure was great and TV had all the necessary channels for the necessary background noise. Elevators were quick and the service was amazing. Shoutout to Miguel at the front desk, who was able to accommodate a room change request and that type of service keeps a customer coming back! Hotel felt safe and no noticeable rift raft on that specific street!

This has been our go to hotel in NYC for many years. Always an amazing staff until this past weekend. When we arrived back home last night my husband realized his AirPods were missing. They had been in the pocket of his backpack that never left the room until we checked out. When he did Find my headphones on his phone the AirPods were on 4th St. in Mount Vernon, NY. We have never been to this town. Someone had come into our room and took the AirPods from his backpack. We had requested extra pillows prior to heading to our show so we know at least one person entered our room. After over 20 years of staying at this hotel, we may look at other hotels for future stays. Very disappointed since we liked this hotel a lot.

The Good:
Courteous staff.
Centralized Location.
The Bad:
Rooms on second floor are freezing in winter.
Thick curtains cover 1 tiny vent that provides very little heat on cold nights.
Huge drafty windows facing highrise wind tunnels.
No complimentary water.
Musty carpets.
Housekeeping ready to enter room at all times unless you can find the "Do Not Disturb" door tag & hope it doesn't fly off each time you open/shut the door!
Interior rooms have views that look like you're staying inside a dumpster.
Creepy stairwells that lead directly to the streets instead of lobby.

I stayed at this location around Christmas time. I was willing to pay the cost of a slightly more expensive hotel both for the easy, centralized location and for the ease of not having to deal with an AirBnB host or possibly dirty hotel. I very much regret staying at this location. The first room that we were in was not clean. There was hair in the shower that was not ours, some trash left in the bathroom, and no wash clothes in the room. I reported this to the front desk and they kindly offered to have us move rooms for the second night. The second room none of the outlets near the bed on either side worked, and unbelievably found another hair that wasn't ours (I have medium length blond hair and this was long and dark) in the washcloth. I reported this to the front desk when I left and while they offered me bonus points were otherwise unhelpful as I wanted a refund. We had to leave to catch a train so I followed up by survey, then by email, then with Marriott customer service. They've now closed my case (which they didn't tell me, I had to call to find out) and offered me basically nothing, despite all of the times I followed up, except a discount to stay at this location again. Given how dirty it was, and my overall experience, I NEVER want to stay at this location again and honestly will try to avoid Marriott locations in general where possible.

The hotel is basic and well located. But the service is awful. We checked in and the front desk gave us three plastic cards that the employee on duty said could be used for $30 credit in the Market shop or the coffee shop at breakfast, because I am a Marriott member. But when we tried to redeem them, the manager told us the employer had been wrong to offer them. Okay, mistakes are made. The hotel should graciously cover them. Instead the manager fought. And fought. And fought. She would not under any circumstances honor the credit, and while it is a small amount to make a fuss over — it is an even smaller amount to a multimillion dollar corporation. And yet they were unyielding and refused to accommodate. Left with a very unpleasant impression and will not return.

Booked this hotel last minute for a quick weekend trip after reading positive reviews. Arrived at check-in around 6pm after a long drive and once inside our room realized the spigot in the tub was missing and there were muddy boot prints in the tub. We immediately notified the front desk who moved us 5 floors down to a room overlooking a concrete wall and AC units. Not ideal but fine - the room at least appeared to be clean. It was small which is typical in NYC, but was laid out well in terms of space. That’s where the positives stop. The beds were so hard and uncomfortable that everyone woke up with back aches and there was a humming/buzzing noise that kept everyone up for 2 nights. Both those things led to cranky and tired travelers. Additionally, the streaming feature on the TV didn’t work, which is such a basic feature nowadays. The hotel did send an engineer up to attempt to fix it, but he was unable to and left saying that the boxes on the back of the TVs were controlled from outside the hotel. Overall, it just wasn’t a great experience and I would recommend looking elsewhere - there are certainly plenty of options.

Stayed here for two nights. Checked in early after our flight landed at JFK. Room was ready when our cab dropped us off. A room with 2 queen beds was a great find at a hotel mere blocks from Times Square, the Theater District, the 42nd & Times Square subway station and Bryant Park. Couldn't ask for a better location. Numerous restaurants within walking distance. The room also came with a very modest price, which as even better. Very friendly staff with excellent service. Looking forward to a return visit.

Great location, staff and reasonably priced. We stayed 3 nights with our family and I was very impressed. The bell staff was superb, and helped arrange seamless airport transfer ride. The front desk was always available for any need we had. They were responsive. The rooms were small as to be expected in a high rise NYC hotel. But were nice and recently updated. It was quiet and restful after long days touring the city. Would definitely stay again. The building is very tall, so being on a high floor we did not hear any street noise. Nice fitness and laundry facilities, we did not try the breakfast buffet, a little on the pricey side at $30, but there is a coffee bar which serves up Starbucks brews.

Decided to stay at this hotel as my normal hotel was fully booked. The experience was not the best. The hotel is old and tired. The elevators were worn and very creaky. The size of the room was okay, but lacked a trash can. It was not possible to change the fan speed so I needed to turn off the A/C in order to sleep. The temperature control was lacking. The control showed one temp all the time. Only had a recycling bin in the room.
The breakfast was really poor to the extent that I stopped going even though it was included in my room rate. The oatmeal had no taste and had the consistency of glue. They even had no milk one morning. The staff was indifferent at best. They acted as if they were doing me a favor even acknowledging my presence. The fact that I actually wanted something was an affront.
In summary, not the best experience. I strongly urge people to go elsewhere. While there is a Courtyard name over the front door, the level of service is quite different and not in a positive manner.
