My wife and I have stayed at the Arthouse many times and we have always been more than satisfied, but this past weekend's stay was the best! While the temperature outside was frigid we sat and listened to some great live music just off the Arthouse lobby. We also had dinner at Serafina and even though we didn't have reservations they sat us immediately!
The entire Arthouse staff was once again top notch...friendly and professional. They couldn't do enough for us.

I'm writing this sat in the lobby/bar area which has a wonderful atmosphere. We didn't spend much time down here but the music sounded great.

We requested a low level room as my Auntie who I am travelling erith can't use elevators. This wasn't a problem and we got a room on the second floor. The only downside to this was the noise of the street outside and obviously we could hear the music from the lobby bar at night. I just whacked on headphones and it was fine but be prepared if you wanted a lower level room that New York really is the city that never sleeps even in the quieter area of the upper west side.

The actual room was lovely, spacious with plenty of storage. The coffee provided wasn't very nice but we grabbed some of our own from CVS across the street (very handy) and managed to trick the machine into just giving us hot water.
The coffee tea and condiments were refreshed daily as we're the soaps and two bottles of water which were well received by us.

The beds were huge we had a deluxe double double and the comfiest beds I've ever slept on which was great after long days exploring the city.
The bathroom was a little unconventional with no storage or surfaces and the world's biggest yet shallowest sink but we got used to it. The shower was lovely and spacious.

We did have some issues with plumbing when we arrived, we had no hot water and a blocked toilet but this was qui kly fixed with no fuss while we were out.

The staff were all friendly and welcoming.

Location for us was brilliant, The Upper West Side is alot quieter and you feel a lot less like a tourist. That said its miles away form the majority of attractions. We walked everywhere and generally had a 40 minute walk to anything. We were glad we didn't stay in Times Square far too busy for us!

I could stop this review down to 4 stars and if I'd written this review at the start of our stay I probably would have but we quickly felt at home and any issues really were dealt with well. Other nit picky things were completely out of hotels control so 5 stars we'll deserved!

Would definitely stay again and reccomend to others.

We stayed as family for New Year's Eve and it was a memorable week. The hotel location is very good, on Broadway, near 2 metro stations either on 72nd or 79th street. The rooms are acceptable in size and beds were comfortable. Cleaning should be improved, particularly in the bathroom where the side of the wash-basin was not clean. Staff was absolutely friendly and helpful and exceeded our expectations. as examples, we forgot our slippers and got a pair of them in 10 minutes. One day my daughter had a problem with the vending machine but she immediately got a free soda as compensation from the receptionist (and of curse she was surprised and happy!). Breakfast was acceptable in the small bar "Pastis", even though selections are limited. On a negative note, we were not informed that Pastis is closed on Saturdays, but once again the staff corrected the small mistake by offering an upgrade in the "Serafina" restaurant, which was actually delicious!
So overall we will remember our stay in NYC for a long time and will consider Arthouse Hotel again in future. And warm thanks to the Reception staff!

Just come back after staying for New Year 2019.

The hotel is nice, well appointed and has a cool atmosphere. The reception, bar area is chic and has a good selection of (overpriced) drinks in the bar. A draft beer costs around $8-9 (£6 for about 3/4 pint) Wine by the glass is more.

Rooms are good for the advertised rate and some have spectacular views across the city. It’s Easy to access as it’s a relatively short walk north up broadway from 72nd on the red line.

So all is going well..so far and 2 days in and we are thinking this is all very nice and we’re enjoying our stay, then day 3, some things go missing from our room. We reported it to the reception, to Charlie who is billed as Head of Security, who suggested they would open a report on it and investigate.

After chasing an answer down we were told the items in question weren’t in our room and they had done as much as was possible. So we told them that the items had be taken from the room, one could deduce therefore they wouldn’t be in the room on investigation. No further action was forthcoming despite asking three different staff...some of who should not be in customer service at all. We brits can be a bit funny admittedly, but at least we know how to be polite. Perhaps a bit of training is in order?

Our stay was going downhill fast, with some of the items having significant personal value and they were not on display either.

Finally, to add insult to injury, on departure, a wonderful $450 worth of Urban Tax slapped onto our bill. This ‘made up’ tax is causing havoc across the cities hotels apparently, as it’s basically money for old rope. We were told this tax pays for the hotel amenities including the WiFi!

We paid it, gritted our teeth and left New York with a really bitter taste after having such a lovely time. Hotel manager said she would address our issues but that’s a load of nonsense. Almost 48hours later and we are now a distant memory for the hotel staff.

Be very aware of some of these issues when booking. Your room rate is not the final rate you will pay! Your belongings may not be secure so make sure they are locked up if you leave them in your room.

Dear T747CEalc, Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I truly regret to hear about the issues you faced. I can certainly understand how frustrating this would be. I would appreciate if you reached out to me directly at ah-gm@arthousehotelnyc.com so I can look into this further and make this right. I'm also sorry that you were caught off guard by our Urban Fee-- we are working hard with third-party sites to make this as transparent as possible. We do hope you'll consider giving us a chance to earn your trust. Warm regards, Barbara

Booked this hotel in February for a April 24th, 2021 stay. It was our wedding anniversary and it has been a while since we have been in the city (due to COVID). I paid $425 (tax, urban fee and some other fee) for a junior suite with 2 queen beds and requested a high floor with a street view. Upon arrival, I was told my reserved room wasnt ready yet however they had a junior suite on 2nd floor. They could not give an estimate of how long the wait would be for a higher floor. I decided to wait. After 30 minutes I was told they had a high floor room but it was 2 doubles in a standard room. I told them I paid extra for the junior suite. They told me they would only have 1 available tonight on the 2nd floor but it has 2 windows. I relented. The room had 2 windows that could not see through. When I opened them the view was of an air shaft 24 inches away and no sunlight could come through. The bathroom had a sink that you would see in a public bathroom (wall mounted). We only got 2 towels. No HOT WATER, no sugar, sweeteners or creme at the coffee brewer, and no room fridge. There is 1 ice machine in the whole building and it was out of service. The sign on it said to call the front desk for ice and when we did they told us to buy some at the CVS across the street. CVS was out of ice. The fitness center was closed. Im sure the hotel would blame the lack of ice and fitness center on COVID but I feel that is a lousy excuse at this time. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The lobby is small but a place you would want to relax and hang out. $425 for a lousy room and subpar service put a damper on my anniversary weekend. I definately would not recommend staying here.

Back in October I stayed here in a Broadway City View King room and loved it. I rebooked for early December and requested the same or similar corner room. I was assured twice that they'd saved one for me. Sadly, when I checked in they sent me to a different, much smaller room. My disappointment was made worse by the fact that the blackout shade was broken in the down position so I could not see the view. AND there was a motion sensor on the light near the door so that when you walked into the bathroom a very bright light turned on in the room. Not fun in the middle of the night.
They were unable to give me a different room, and it was too late at night to fix the shade or the motion sensor. Everyone was very nice, and the next day they did offer to move me and to fix the sensor. We had a full day planned in the city and didn't want to bother moving, but I was happy to have the sensor fixed.
Well, despite having assured me it was repaired, the light continued to go on all night whenever it detected movement. Not good for sleeping.
If they had not raised my expectations by promising me the corner room, and if the smaller room had had a working shade and no midnight light show, I might consider booking there again. But although they did discount the room, I would not risk staying there a third time, which is too bad - it's a great location and the aesthetic matches my taste. But I need it to be dark at night.

We loved the retro/metro sleek design of the room with the basic style cabinets and stainless steel sink. It was all we needed for our NYC getaway. We took a subway from Grand Central and it was a quick walk to the hotel.

No room service, water was freezing in shower, kept having to call down to have someone fix it. My friend was staying in another room and his cell phone broke so he asked reception to call my room, they refused and would only leave me a message which I missed and therefore missed an important meeting. Demanded to take $50 per night deposit for my room for incidentals but couldn’t charge breakfast to my room as they said they weren’t part of the hotel and no room service anyway? If you want a late check out thags $50 too! Horrible

The location of this hotel is incredible, your a couple blocks from Subways making it very convenient to get around the city. Also the lounge is so nice there is even live piano at night, the hotel was also clean as well as our rooms which is super important to us. Now the downsides if you don’t splurge and get a room upgrade you will probably be looking at the brick facade of the next door building. There is a daily urban fee, which includes water maid service and other amenities. My biggest problem with this maid service did not make our beds, when I spoke to the front desk they said due to COVID you had to request this. That was not made immediately clear and since the fee isn’t optional why should you have to specifically request those services. Also this hotel does not include breakfast items my be purchased though. All in all a good time though. I also want to state that I got it on Groupon so I didn’t pay the normal hotel price however if I had it would have likely be ranked 3 stars instead of 4.

No the hotel doesn’t have parking. However there parking garages all over the city for around 60.00-65.00 per day. But what I did was park my car at the Bolt parking facility for 17.97 per day. Nd took a lyft back to the hotel and just took local transportation around the city whether it be a lyft, Uber, Taxi or Subway. Then took a lyft back to Bolt parking after I checked out.
