The Lowell Hotel garners praise for its inviting atmosphere, with guests frequently lauding the cozy and elegant decor, including the charm of wood-burning fireplaces. Travelers appreciate the luxurious amenities and commend the hotel for its attentive service and professionalism, ensuring a welcoming and satisfactory experience. While the rooms are celebrated for their elegance, some guests find them a tad small.
Cleanliness is a standout feature, with meticulous housekeeping noted. However, opinions on value are mixed, with some deeming the pricing steep, especially when considering extra fees. The hotel's prime location is widely appreciated for its convenience and surrounding ambiance.

My wife and I had an amazing stay at the Lowell Hotel in NYC! Our experience at the hotel has been truly exceptional. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. This is the second stay for us there. The staff at the Lowell Hotel always goes above and beyond to make us feel like a VIPs, and they made us feel right at home. The attention to detail in the beautifully decorated rooms was very impressive, creating a cozy and luxurious ambiance for us to relax and unwind. And let’s not forget about the prime location of the hotel, that has allowed us to easily explore the vibrant city of New York. We were left with wonderful memories we have made during our stay. We will always stay there from now on.

The Lowell is a lovely boutique hotel on the UE with good proximity to shopping and great restaurants. We highly recommend the Lowell for its location and very attentive staff -- from the front desk to housekeeping and room service. All were top notch!

After reading about The Lowell, and its high ranking in luxury travel magazine readers polls, I finally had the opportunity to stay here. My expectations were high. Unfortunately, my experience fell well short of expectations. Suffice it to say that the staff try hard here. But the reality is, the property itself is dated. Sure, it has that old world charm. However, it really is in need of upgrading both décor and building infrastructure (like properly insulated windows. My biggest issue was the room size. We requested a junior suite, which was stated as 600 sq ft. Being a seasoned traveler and having stayed in hotel room ranging from 200 -2000 sq ft, , I immediately knew upon entering our suite that there was an error. I measure junior suite 12C at about 300 sq ft. Add the bathroom, maybe a total of 330-350 sq ft. It's very disingenuous for a hotel which considers itself five star to misstate the size of its rooms, as that plays a major role in the room price. In any event, lesson learned.
With so many great hotels in the city, I won't likely stay at The Lowell again. By the way, the wood burning fireplaces are a nice touch. But at the price charged per night, one would think the hotel did not need to levy a charge of $35 for lighting the fire.

The hotel is very nice and intimate, in our favorite area of NYC. The service is thoughtful. The rooms are nice in classic style, quite spacious, but a bit over-priced. We stayed in a boom time due to a major international event nearby. The room type we booked had a horrible view on the roof of another building. We preferred a lower level room (the only alternative available) and of course they discounted the difference, reserving a special rate x compensate for our "non-enthusiasm". Very good breakfast

Booked trip for my husband and my anniversary many months before trip. Made it very clear that we would love a special room so we booked a junior deluxe suite. Was told it would have a terrace and kitchenette plus website claims the deluxe suites are corner rooms. Called 2 weeks before to confirm nice room with terrace etc and were assured it would be a special room. Check in to find that there was no terrace, no kitchenette and it was not a corner room. Was stuffed into the smallest junior room not a deluxe junior suite. Front desk could not move us into a better room and also would not reduce the price of the room given that there was no terrace, no kitchenette and it was not a bright corner room. Very dishonest. Also the heat was not working properly in our room so the suggestion by the bellman was to turn the heat up to 80 degrees. Still cold and we were charged for the firewood and the log tax for our stay. Hidden costs and quite frankly appaling given that our room was freezing. We have stayed at many nice hotel in NYC and have always given glowing reviews. This 5 star hotel is more like a 3 star that is outdated and extremely overpriced for what you get.

We just enjoyed another wonderful week at The Lowell. It remains one of the best hotels in the U.S. From the welcome at the front door, to the housekeeping staff, each member of the team makes us feel like VIP guests. They remember us by name, and never forget to follow up on the simplest of requests. The rooms are quiet and beautifully decorated. The entire staff is dedicated to making our stay perfect. It's why we regard the Lowell as our New York home away from home, and why we keep returning.

We spent last week in NYC - the weather was cold, wet and windy. But when we entered The Lowell we were immediately transported into an atmosphere of comfort and warmth. The hotel has everything you expect in the top NYC hotel - the rooms are beautifully decorated, and each member of staff went out of their way to ensure that our stay was perfect. The Club Room has its own special ambiance, and Jacques Bar offers wonderful cocktails and the best service. We have already made reservations for our next visit - we can't imagine staying anywhere else.

We just enjoyed an incredible six-night stay at The Lowell. Service exceeded our expectations. Each member of the staff was always on hand to make sure we had everything we needed. Our room was beautiful, and twice-daily housekeeping kept it immaculate. We enjoyed cocktails in the intimate environment of Jacques Bar, and a wonderful dinner in Majorelle - delicious food and perfect service. The magnificent flower arrangements throughout the hotel just add to what is the best hotel experience in New York. We love The Lowell - can't wait to return for our next visit.

I had the privilege of staying at The Lowell Hotel for ten days over the Thanksgiving holiday, and from the moment I arrived at the hotel my experience was nothing short of amazing. Upon arrival, I was accommodated with a glass of wine while I waited for my room to be ready, during that time I was able to have a look around at the historical layout that is the Lowell. Every detail I came across was immaculate to the eye, when I finally made it to my room I was blown away at how upscale and beautiful everything was. Each staff member I came into contact with provided service that went above and beyond any expectations I had. They provide everything you want and assist you with anything you might need help with. This is a hotel you need to stay at while visiting New York City, it is comfortably located in the Upper East Side and is surprisingly very quiet. You are just a few blocks away from shops, Central Park, and amazing food. I HIGHLY recommend you stay at the Lowell for your home away from home while on vacation, or business trips.

I know that certain rooms (likely suites) have terraces and those might have a partial or diagonal park view. If you are specifically interested in a Central Park View, I might recommend The Pierre, The Carlyle, or the Four Seasons which have rooms with better views. The Ritz Carlton also has great views from Central Park South.
I'm not sure- but contact the hotel, they are very helpful. Ours was very apartment like with a bedroom, bath, kitchen and living room, for just 2 people. The sofa could have been a pull out, just not sure about that.
Dear Ben J,
Thank you for your inquiry. We have 14 rooms across different room categories that have terraces. Many of our Deluxe Junior Suites and Lowell One and Two Bedroom Suite Deluxe have terraces. In our Specialty Suites; the Manhattan, the Garden, the Lowell and of course our gorgeous two bedroom Penthouse. We also have one Lowell King room on the Penthouse level that has a terrace.
Please contact me directly should you want me to check availability.
Best wishes,
Sarah Bolton
