Hotel's Favourite
We stayed for the Christmas holiday, and it was one of the best experiences I have had in an NYC hotel. They are pet friendly. The friendliness and attentiveness of the staff was outstanding. The room service was surprisingly fast, and the food was from Harry Cipriani, so it was delicious. It was not an inexpensive stay, but what hotel on Fifth Avenue would be?? After staying at the Sherry-Netherland, I don't think any other NYC hotel will do!

We had a fabulous visit to the Sherry-Netherland Hotel. The staff and management takes great care of their guests and makes certain their guests are comfortable. The rooms are well appointed and tastefully decorated -- real pleasure to be a guest staying in these rooms. The doormen are extremely friendly and welcoming. Elevator operators kindly and professionally escort guests to their floors, and remember the location after one ride. Housekeeping services the rooms twice a day and makes certain the room is well supplied. Anything extra we wanted or needed was promptly addressed. We were treated royally at the Sherry Netherland and would be thrilled to visit the hotel again.

We’ve stayed at some great hotels and some not so great hotels. This was one of the great ones.
Booking was painless and the final bill was 3 cents more than the quote we got a year previously. We didn’t quibble! It’s not cheap, but nowhere in NYC is. The staff were great - all the advice they offered was spot on. And they all could not have been more helpful. A cab to the airport? A local diner? Can we store your luggage? An early check in? If only all hotels were like this. They’re a great team who actually seemed to like working together, and take pride in looking after people. Hats off guys. I could send you plenty of staff from other hotels for you to teach!
The SN is perfectly situated on 5th Avenue right on the south end of Central Park and opposite the Plaza. Everywhere we wanted to be was half an hours stroll - apart Yankee Stadium for a night game which included an authentic subway experience! It made for a very relaxing and enjoyable 5 days, even in a heatwave.
We loved New York, and the New Yorkers we met were 100% lovely people. I mean REALLY really friendly and helpful. Such a surprise. And we felt completely safe. No question we’ll be back.
One tip - go to the New York Public Library. It doesn’t feature much in the guide books and it’s definitely not one of the show attractions, but in their exhibition in the first 5 minutes there was the 1776 US Bill of Rights signed by John Adams, a Guttenberg Bible printed in 1455 (OMG), a Shakespeare First Folio printed in 1570, and the original Winnie the Pooh bear (which happened to be the twin of my own childhood bear which sits in my study). We were blown away………and that many a day.
It was an epic trip. Thanks for everything NYC and the Sherry Netherland. Until the next time.

I booked this for two nights for ease on my wedding day in Central Park. We didn’t receive a gift of dog treats for our dog, valet took 1.5 hrs to retrieve my car, breakfast service on my wedding day only provided 1 thermos of coffee when two was ordered and the quality of the meal was immensely poor. I reached out asking for the other coffee thermos ordered and it was never brought, along with the request for water bottles for my dog. I also set a reservation at Harry Cipriani for after the wedding with close friends and family and the experience left me absolutely speechless with how incredibly awful the service, punctuality, and accommodations were. They refused to accommodate my almost 80 year old disabled mother-in-law who is in a motorized wheelchair when the wedding party came 10 minutes early to the reservation. They made her drive back into the lobby and injure her feet in the process. The wait approached the table by saying, “what do you want to eat?,” without any prior greeting or acknowledgement that my husband and I were just married. He never checked on if there were any issues with the food and multiple members at the table had to reach out to other wait staff to ask for drinks. When receiving the bill, he was not sure if he billed us correctly with drinks and had a hard time communicating with us. He also failed to give us 20% off the bill, even though we mentioned we were staying at the hotel. Also, when emailing prior to set the reservation, I mentioned multiple things, such as accommodations for a member of the party being disabled and I received only half a sentence back saying, “what is your phone number to confirm the reservation?” I promptly sent my phone number back and never received a phone call. I live in New York and have stayed at many Manhattan hotels. It horrifies me to say that I am deeply disappointed to have chosen this one on such a special occasion.

We had another great stay at the Sherry Netherland. We love the feel of this hotel as it gives you the feel of an old great NYC residence, but while the building may be historic and the decorations not "modern", they are appropriate, well maintained, and you get the benefit of large rooms, tall ceilings, and really great service and friendly staff. You feel like you live in NYC when you stay here as opposed to cold distant hotel staff. We have always had a great experience at the Sherry. We love walking out the door and having the park directly across the street. We highly recommend this hotel. We also love it because we can get a nice suite with attached king room (if planned in advance) and when you get a reservation you get assigned THAT ROOM and you know you will have your family together in these connected rooms. This is a great family hotel for families visiting NYC. The rooms all have at least a small fridge stocked with water and sodas, they give you a little treat at check in, and they just treat you like you belong there when you stay there. It is difficult to describe the experience, but you feel like you have a home in NYC rather than a room.

My husband and I stayed four nights at the Sherry-Netherland in May 2024. The location is exceptional, right across the street from Central Park. A 30 minute or so walk going north takes one to museums such as the Met, the Neue Galerie, and the Guggenheim; going south, there are all the iconic designer stores such as Tiffany, Cartier, Bvlgari, and Van Cleef&Arpel.
Each suite belongs to a private owner who places it in a rental pool when the owner is away. It is therefore not possible to know in advance exactly which suite is booked. I specified a one bedroom interior suite but didn't know exactly what we would get. It was worth the risk.
All of th staff are calm, friendly, and efficient. No one seems to be rushed or stressed out. Wonderful old world charm and elegance at the Sherry-Netherland.

Beautiful old world charm hotel with a great location that needs updating. Amenities need updating. TV is insanely limited, bathroom surface space is non-existent and there is no mini bar.

We stayed for 6 nights on the 2nd floor of this somewhat historical hotel, we had a city view over looking the Dior store & open space seating. Our room was spacious, our bed was somewhat lumpy in places, however it was comfortable with air conditioning not being too stuffy. Nice amenities ( molten brown) bathroom was reasonably spacious. Very clean with fantastic shower. Good service from the ushers & manned lift attendants,

My family of 4 including 2 young girls had an amazing 5 night stay. We booked our stay very last minute and we’re blown away by our experience. The hotel is stunning! We felt like we had stepped back in time with old school luxury. I can’t say enough good things about the service. It was so personalized and at a higher level then we have become accustomed to seeing at the Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons. There was even an elevator attendant 24hours a day! Our suite was huge and had a kitchenette with stocked mini fridge that was refreshed daily…for free! We’ve been back for almost 2 weeks and we can’t quit talking about this hotel. We can’t wait to go back!

Hi We look forward to having you come in April. Our city view rooms look down 5th Avenue. The Apple Plaza is seen as well are the GM building. You are not up against it. There are also city view rooms that face north and you see partial views of the Central Park and architecture of other buildings. I hope this helps you.
It is not small, and the panelling is beautiful - from the Vanderbilt mansion. Also, there is someone to push the buttons. Concentrate on the elegant details of the paneling, and you’ll be on the third floor before you’ve even noticed the doors have closed.
I have always been able to leave checked bags with the hotel with no issues. I do not know about a later check-out but the staff is marvelous and will accommodate in any way they can.
Suite 711 has a stove with an oven, as does suite 301, and suite 2111, however, none of the ovens are convection ovens.
We do not have any bars or restaurants on a high floor with a view, though our concierges will be happy to direct you to other neighborhood bars and restaurants with views. Our only restaurant is Harry Cipriani, which is on the ground floor, just off the main lobby.
