Nestled in the heart of Times Square, the Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel garners praise for its prime location and the serene, clean atmosphere it offers amidst the city bustle. While the amenities and rooms satisfy with cleanliness and space, some guests have called out the need for updates and quieter accommodations.
Despite generally commendable service, a few travelers have encountered service hiccups. The hotel's value proposition is questioned by many, with concerns over high costs and additional charges.

Location! Location! Location! You can't get closer to Times Square than this hotel. It is a step away. We appreciated staff's recommendations and navigation skills at the front desk. The rooms were a decent size compared to other locations we have stayed in the past. It was also a unique set up where you get charged a daily resort fee but the hotel also gives you a $35 per day credit for you to use at the hotel. Although everything is expensive, you can at least get something with the credit. Because of the hotel's central location there are various train lines within a 5 minute walk making it easy to get just about anywhere within NYC. The 4 stars vs. 5 is because the breakfast was not reasonably priced nor was the parking ($99 for valet and $55 for self parking) and there was no pool. Worth mentioning is that you get two daily waters at no cost and cleaning of rooms upon your request. (Yes, the rooms were clean). Would definitely stay here again...see attached photo...such a nice detail to put a snow globe of the iconic Statute of Liberty in each room.

This hotel is centrally located right in the heart of Times Square. Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, grocery stores, and attractions. As with most Renaissance hotels, this is typical with a hip and upbeat atmosphere. All staff interaction from front desk, security, and breakfast was great.
The breakfast offers a variety of options: Cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs, and self service Starbucks coffee. They have both caffeinated and decaffeinated as well as a variety of teas.
My standard room was slightly larger than your average New York City room. It was approximately 300 ft.² and perfect for my overnight stay. The room, as well as the rest of the hotel, has a modern and contemporary decor. The shower was great and offered liquid pump body wash, shampoo, and conditioner.
Anyone reading this review may be surprised by what I’m about to say, considering my 5-star review. The hotel is terrific, however, I won’t stay here again. I’m sensitive to noise and light. With its prime location right on Broadway, in the middle of Times Square, the noise can be irritating at times. The hotel is next to the main plaza where they have concerts. The thumping was annoying, but luckily, it ended by 9 PM. With the shades drawn, the flashing neon light can be seen. I also have a White Noise app on my phone, and unfortunately, I still heard the outside noise even though I was on the 14th floor.
If you’re sensitive to noise and light, you may want to consider another hotel. I didn’t want this to affect the rating of the hotel itself.

We had a wonderful stay at the Renaissance Times Square! The front desk staff was incredibly kind, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Omar, the concierge, was phenomenal—offering great suggestions and always greeting us with a friendly smile. Despite arriving early on a Tuesday, our room was ready in less than an hour, which was a pleasant surprise.
The room (Executive Suite) was very spacious, clean, and comfortable with 2 full bathrooms - perfect for our family of 4. Daily housekeeping. We appreciated having internet TV for streaming kids' shows. The hotel's location is seriously perfect for exploring Times Square and the surrounding area, making it an excellent choice for anyone wanting to be in the heart of the city.
However, there were a few areas for improvement. The sofa bed in the executive suite was quite uncomfortable, and we were only provided with a thin blanket. A mattress cover and duvet, similar to the ones on the regular beds, would have made a big difference. Additionally, the windows and some walls were a bit sticky and dusty, which affected our overall impression of cleanliness.
The menu at R Lounge was limited, though what we did have was tasty. (Wings, truffle fries, burger.)
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay from Tuesday to Saturday and would definitely stay again if we were looking for a Times Square hotel. With a few improvements, this hotel could easily become a top choice for visitors to New York.

Traveling with teens and did not want to get two separate hotel rooms. Renaissance’s King Suite was the perfect solution. The teens were able to have their own area with the pull out sofa and bathroom. We were able to enjoy a full size hotel room and bathroom with a King bed.
The Times Square location is a great centrally located area for starting off for sightseeing in NYC. The noise level was a concern for me. Several reviews stated higher floors help keep the noise level to a minimum. We were on the top floor (26) and could still hear quite a bit. So if you are expecting quiet nights, this is not the place.
Everything was clean, fresh towels every day. We had an issue with the iron in the room. Called downstairs and they had a new one in my hands quickly.
My only major complaint was breakfast in the restaurant. Most expensive hotel buffet I’ve ever paid for. And quite possibly the worst hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. Eggs had no seasoning, sausage was overcooked and tough to chew. We basically paid $200+ for four of us to eat muffins and cereal.

Dear valued guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're delighted to hear that our King Suite was a great fit for your family and that you found our Times Square location convenient for sightseeing. We apologize for the noise level you experienced, despite being on a higher floor. While we strive to provide a quiet environment, the central location can sometimes lead to unavoidable city noise. We appreciate your positive comments about our cleanliness and quick service regarding the iron. However, we're very sorry to hear that the breakfast did not meet your expectations. Your feedback about the quality and cost of the breakfast will be shared with our culinary team for immediate improvement. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to welcome you back and provide an even better experience in the future. Sincerely,

We arrived at the Hotel 2 hours before check in (which was at 4pm). No problem, the hotel took our bags and secured them, they gave us a ticket for each case so we could get them when needed. The hotel is in a great location, right in Times Square, there were plenty of bars and restaurants to go to, and the subway was 2 minutes away. We returned to the Hotel lobby, this was small and dark, however, 2 floors up via a lift was the actual lobby. Here you could find the bar and restaurant and it was light and roomy. You also got the lifts to your room from here. We inquired about when our room would be ready and was told someone would be up to the lobby to let us know and give us our room key. We managed to check into the room just after 4pm. We chose a Terrace Room, what we did not know was that each 'Terrace' room had a different sized terrace, we drew the short straw and got a small balcony that could just about fit 2 chairs. I was also a little concerned about the state of the artificial grass, it wasn't the cleanest. Still, the room was large for NY and the bed very comfortable. The shower was great and our room was cleaned to a good standard each day. The gym is good, there are towels and cold water available. The equipment was in good working order although the air con could have been a little colder. Please note that your are in Times Square, so although the windows kept a lot of the noise out, it was not completely quiet, also, the blackout curtains had a gap at the top, so if you are sensitive to light, bring an eye mask. We had dinner in the hotel on our last day overlooking Times Square and it was great, a nice end to our holiday. Now the down part, when we returned home, we saw that the hotel had charged us $6 each for bottle water in the room, there was no notice indicating that this water was NOT free, likewise, you can review your bill daily and at no point did this charge appear on it. They also tried to charge us $54 why? well they didn't know either. We had to check out early and there was no-one on reception so we could not query anything until we got home. We never got a refund for the water as they implied it was clearly noted (hmmmm). We love Marriott's and would stay in them again, just not here.

The awesome service and hospitality of your well trained staff made our stay most enjoyable. We knew that the location was not quiet and in fact traffic could be heard clearly even from the 16th floor and throughout the night.
The structure is uncomfortable because to climb you have to take two different elevators, very slow.
The room is more spacious than the average downtown ny, however the bathroom was undignified, with an old, yellowed and scratched shower. The only positive note were the products of the aveda.
The carpets then leave the usual stale smell.
Discreet gym, where during my run followed people to get water from the free dispenser.
But let's move on to the real problem: we had to spend two nights in this structure, after a long journey, to return home. Unfortunately our flight was cancelled and rescheduled exactly for the following evening.
We therefore asked for the availability of the same room for one more night and were allowed.
Leaving the room to reset the keys, we were told that we had to pay the room for the additional night in addition to a new deposit of € 100.00 because for them it was a Second Reservation (of course the deposit for the previous two nights was not yet unlocked).
Being traveling for many weeks our cards had no availability for euro 500.00 (overnight stay + new deposit).
My husband, a gold customer, said he did not understand why we had to pay the bail since they still had the previous one... but it was not history, considering that we could not return to the room (where our things were) without paying and that in Italy it was mid-August (so we could not Call the bank to increase platdfond), we were forced to withdraw and pay partly by card and partly in cash, thus also paying the double deposit.
Last joke: the expensive hotel bar does not display any signs, but does not accept cash... I went to Starbucks paying half.
Disappointed with this hotel, despite being of the Marriott group!

The location is absolutely perfect!! The hotel staff upon check in were extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms were somewhat small but stocked with all the necessities: coffee/tea, hair dryer, lotion, makeup wipes, shower supplies. The cleaning crew were so kind any time we asked for anything! Definitely we will be staying here again in the future!

The hotel location is fine. Housekeeping is horrendous not only do they not come service your room. The shampoo and conditioner bottles are filled with water. Disgusting. The hot water does not work consistently. I receive no housekeeping, even though I was out of my room from 8 AM to 5:30 PM, it’s very noisy so you must request a high room the rooms don’t close all the way so make sure you shut them and lock them

This hotel was in a great location right in the heart of Times Square making it very easy and safe to explore all the area has to offer.
