At the Westgate New York Grand Central, opinion is divided over the rooms—some guests commend them for their cleanliness and space, while others find them cramped and in need of an update. The hotel's cleanliness generally receives high marks, and its service is often celebrated for being attentive, though there have been some concerns regarding efficiency. Its prime location earns consistent praise, offering easy access to attractions and public transport.
However, the value proposition is contentious, with the cost and additional fees leaving some guests dissatisfied. While amenities are appreciated, the absence of a full restaurant and mixed reviews regarding noise levels are noted. The overall atmosphere is described as elegant, contributing to the hotel's relaxing vibe.

Stayed at Westgate Grand Central NYC for 4 nights whilst visiting with our 2 toddlers and my parents. Complimentary water on arrival and check in was swift and pleasant with the staff accommodating us by locating us rooms on the same floor. Great location, within walking distance of major attractions, eateries and grocery store right on your doorstep and MTA bus stop across the road.
My only complaint was there was no kettle in the room and when asked, I was told to heat up water with the tiny coffee maker which would pump out coffee residue. I did try asking at the bar for cups of hot water but was told by the barman Sam that he would have to charge me a cup of coffee for the privilege! Not cool. Ended up having to heat the children's milk in the microwave which was not ideal.

Arriving at the hotel first problem we were told a room with a sofa when we had booked a room with two beds for two people, We were 4 in total the receptionist did not want to hear anything unless we gave him eighty dollars a night to have a room with 2 queen beds, we slept for 7 nights. We ask to see the room we are told that we already have to pay taxes, We pay taxes to the world in the room and there the sofa not unfold and in addition no sheets in, Towel for 3 people cup for 3 people coffee for 3 people while we were 4 people bookings made since July. We went back to the front desk and asked that the sofa be made every day we had to explain that there were 4 of us in the room and plane need cup towels and coffee. The location is top but the service of this hotel is really very very neglected more shower gel also in the shower had to claim it. The location is great but the service of this hotel is neglected.

We travel to NYC several times a year and stay at whatever hotel gives us the best rate. I think we’ve finally found the one to return to. The Westgate does take a $100 deposit for damages and $40 per day as a resort fee. (If you’ve found a place in the city that doesn’t, drop the details below pls,)
We were given a corner room with two windows. The only time we heard our neighbors was when the door clicked shut. There wasn’t even sound from the street. It was nice to get maid service every day when most hotels only give replacement towels. Be sure to get your free waters every day from the front desk. As well as your free newspapers. There is a nice bar onsite, but no restaurant or hot food. They do sell pre-packaged food that will do in a pinch. A couple blocks away are a bagel shop and Dunkin’. There is also a grocery store a couple blocks in the other direction. Grand Central Station is less than a ten minute walk with the subway stop and other amenities. Times Square is about a 20-30 minute walk and taxis and ride services are plentiful.
Overall, the Westgate Grand Central is a solid midtown hotel.

The Westgate makes an excellent base to explore NYC. A short walk to Grand Central or walk straight along 42nd for 25mins and you’ll reach Times Square. Alternatively the no.7 subway will do the same.
Our Queen room on the fifth floor, was clean and spacious. The bottles of water provided on arrival were welcomed and check in quick. As others have mentioned, there was a $100 deposit to be paid (which was quickly returned after checking out) and there is a resort tax of just over $40 to pay per night.
In the room itself, the bed and pillows were comfortable and all the extras provided, ie shampoo, iron, hairdryer etc. Our view looked out onto the brick wall of the next building which wasn’t the best, but to be honest it didn’t bother us at all, as we spent little time in the room. We didn’t hear any noise from the neighbours and slept really well.
The air-con was really appreciated, especially in July and the rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels provided.
There are also plenty of cafes to eat at for breakfast around the hotel but they also have a selection of coffee/breakfast items for sale.

My husband and I stayed at the Westgate New York Grand Central from Friday, August 2nd through Monday, August 5th. However, due to our flight being canceled allegedly because of bad weather, we had to extend our stay for two additional nights. The hotel was incredibly helpful in accommodating us during this unexpected change.
Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed by the pleasant scent in the lobby, which gave us a sense that this hotel truly cares about making a good first impression. Every staff member we interacted with was super attentive and helpful, always greeting us with a smile and a great disposition to assist.
Our room was very spacious—something that's quite rare in New York City. The location is fantastic, within walking distance to most major attractions and surrounded by numerous restaurants and convenience stores.
We want to thank Mrs. Zelenovic, the general manager, for going the extra mile to ensure our stay was nothing short of wonderful. We highly recommend this quaint and cozy hotel without hesitation.
Thank you again for a memorable stay!

Great location, quiet, 5 minutes walk from the metro and 10 from the station of grand central Clean and well decorated hotel Some friendly staff but not the majority: receptionists even bow their heads as you pass by, seeming to want to avoid greeting you My biggest disappointment for this 4-star hotel is that we had to make our bed when we arrived at 11:30pm, after 20h of travel. Indeed, the 3rd bed was a sofa to unfold. I went down from the 13th floor to report the abnormal situation at the reception who replied “the sheets are in the wardrobe” , I am surprised and express my dissatisfaction The receptionist tells me he can send me qqn to make the bed “if I wish” This sofa is not at all comfortable with a fine mattress that makes a hollow in the center Upon arrival they ask for our CB to collect a deposit of $100 for room cards On the last day, we had not yet left the room that we were charged on this same $240 card for tourist taxes and hotel services!! I wonder what hotel services this is? The three coffee pods every day in the room? Contrary to the hotel’s website which let us think that there was access to an outdoor terrace, there is none. These are the balconies/terraces of the rooms We haven’t seen the gym, it’s not indicated anywhere. At the same time we did not ask the question However, the deposit of 100$ was quickly recredited following our departure and the return of the 2 room cards Too bad the hotel does not offer breakfast, the corner "supermarket" does not replace a real breakfast and remains expensive (a yogurt 5$)

Very nice hotel, very well located, less than 5 minutes walk from the nearest metro station, the rooms are beautiful and comfortable, the staff are friendly and welcoming. Plenty of towels and bath towels, a tray of tea + coffee replenished every day with the refurbishment of the room. View of a wall but in the evening we are washed out 😂 so not annoying. We would have liked a vacuum cleaner or dust broom on the bedroom floor from time to time. Don’t hesitate to ask for a small bottle of water every day at reception. The bar is pretty but the prices are quite high. Enjoy your stay, we will come back 👍🏻 don't forget in the budget the tourist tax to be paid in addition on site, quite substantial around €38 per night for us

I did so much research before this special solo trip to the Big Apple for the first time and although well into my 50s felt as excited as a teenager. My only concern was whether the hotel I chose from my armchair in UK would be as great as it looked online. I can resounding and categorically report that this hotel exceeded my hopes and was a major part of the unforgettable times I had in Manhattan. The art deco elegance of the hotel is in perfect keeping with the style of nearby Chrysler Building and Grand Central. The rooms are comfortable with excellent beds. The huge pluses are the room rate which is very reasonable for such a mid to high end hotel and the location which is pretty much perfect as you can walk everywhere throughout midtown, Central Park and Downtown. But it’s far enough away from Times Square to feel quite peaceful. The blocks surrounding Westgate have a variety of eateries, diners and takeout options. There is a resort tax when you arrive which seems to be $40 per night but even with this it is remarkably good value for a hotel that truly enhanced my experience. A special word for Kevin in reception and the very kind cleaning lady who were both very helpful and friendly. I thoroughly recommend this midtown gem.

Very impressed with this hotel. Stayed here for 13 nights on honeymoon. Newly renovated, clean, bright lobby. Autumn/fall decorations were a nice touch! Doormen we’re very friendly and helpful, reception desk staff were always there and available. We stayed in a newly renovated room, it was lovely. Newly wood flooring, huge comfy bed, block out blinds. Room was surprisingly large. There was so much floor space around the bed even with two large suitcases, which was brilliant. Closet hanging space, safe and fridge. Bathroom was on the small size but would rather have a smaller bathroom and the extra space in the rest of the room. Room was cleaned daily so always stocked with clean bedding, towels and toiletries. Great location, walking distance to everything but a few blocks away from the noise so you felt it was a bit quieter. Small bar for guests and snacks/drinks/fruit available for purchase downstairs was great. We were out all day everyday sight seeing and being tourists so didn’t need any other amenities but to come back to a clean, comfy space was perfect. All in all I couldn’t fault the hotel, the price was really reasonable, especially for New York and for the space you get I was so surprised. Would definitely recommend.

The artsy, boutique furnishings were hard to miss as I checked in. The reception staff was friendly and efficient. They required a $100 credit card deposit which, I was told, would be reversed at check-out, given there are no incidentals.
Seamless. The 10th floor was quiet. My Luxe Queen room, though lacking in square footage, was so charming otherwise. Well appointed with fresh linens and aromatic toiletries, the icing on the cake was locating #friends on television. In the famous words of Chandler Bing, “could I be any…?” The tidy, brightly lit bathroom, room darkening shades, comfortable bed, and the vintage-modern decor made for a cozy nook to grab solid sleep after dancing the night away.
I asked reception about bottled water. As per my reservation, I was privy to two (2) complimentary bottles. This was great because there weren’t stores nearby open late. Maybe in this neighborhood, gone are the days of the city that never sleeps.
The coffee in the room was weak and the coffee machine was ancient. No worries, the lobby market had #starbucks.
Last but certainly not least, what a bummer, the lobby and market closed unusually early for NYC. I was looking forward to a cocktail or two with my family at the end of the evening. Perhaps, the recovery post-pandemic is ongoing. #essentialworkers
I cannot wait to return and enjoy an extended stay at the Westgate New York Grand Central!!
