Maybe I should say, "Have-To." Following my 8 night stay 10 months ago in a suite, I just completed a 5 night stay in a Kingsize room, paid-for higher floor, and to my surprise toward Central Park, not the Hudson. (Could barely see the Park.) This view had the morning sun, and not the heavy sun of the afternoon on the Hudson side. Room was beautiful. Immaculate. Soothing. Comfortable. Not the full-sized kitchen of last summer, then in a suite, but an adequate stove top, mini fridge, microwave. Fine for 2 friends. Room was well soundproofed. In addition to the 2 grocery stores across the street, Trader Joe's is one block further away. This time, we frequented the city buses, using the excellent bus app. Of course, also the subways. This was a different New York City trip for me, as my friend and I were coming from a music conference, with instruments, and driving. Not every hour was planned! We enjoyed our "destination room." We were blessed with top-notch performing arts, 2 operas, Hamilton, and an evening of ballet. I find this hotel so "easy" and comfortable. Two fine "porters"--we had a lot of luggage, Yomar and Manny, and an excellent house keeper, Jane, who got us everything we requested. Now, a WARNING if you are driving. It took 7 garages before we were accepted with a Toyota RAV. I'll fly next time. (O:

Hotel's Favourite
I highly recommend the Beacon, which has become my home away from home when I’m in NYC. I look forward to staying here every year, especially during the NYC marathon, and make sure to stay for at least a week. I just left a couple days ago, and as usual, I was very sad to leave and am already planning my return stay. There’s so much I love about the Beacon: 1) Staff: Each person who works here is EXCEPTIONAL - most have been at the Beacon for at least the 6 years that I’ve been coming, and probably longer. They are all so warm, genuinely helpful, professional and incredibly service- oriented. This is NOT your typical corporate-owned hotel but rather a place that will welcome you and care for you. Dawn Matthews, Reservations Manager (for the Beacon’s own in-house reservations department, not an impersonal off-site phone bank) has helped me find the best room for the best rate to meet my needs for many years, 2) Security: I feel safe and very comfortable staying here as a solo female traveler. 3) Clean: The common areas are meticulous, as was my suite, which was thoroughly cleaned daily by the world class housekeeping staff 4) Convenience: it’s rare to find a NYC hotel room with a kitchenette, which is such a wonderful feature! With its spacious living area and kitchenette, I feel like I have a great NYC apartment when I stay at the Beacon. The best NYC markets are right across the street (Fairway, Citarella, Trader Joe’s) and are perfect for delicious prepared meals and more. 5) Location: Hotel Beacon is perfectly situated on the Upper West Side, a very safe neighborhood, 3 blocks from the subway, 3 blocks from Central Park, and close to many great restaurants, bars, bakeries, shops, and museums. I highly recommend the Beacon and can’t wait to return for my next visit to my home away from home! P.S. All the rooms are great but deluxe suites above 15th floor are my favorite - very spacious and super quiet!

Stayed over after a concert at the Beacon Hotel next door. Great location to just walk next door after the concert. The staff was super nice and the rooms was huge. We did upgrade to the top floor with an awesome view of the skyline and also the sunrise in the morning. Only complaint was I was not able to control the AC. It was a bit on the warmer side. Hallways were pretty hot as well but it was a freak heat streak. Bathroom was a bit small but we really loved the location and the hotel. A go to for us moving forward when we visit NYC.

This hotel was only a block from the 72nd street subway station. The hotel is also within a couple of blocks to Central Park. The hotel was beautifully kept, and the room was very cozy. The kitchenette came in handy, and saved us some money. I will definitely stay again!

I have visited NYC once before and stayed in a very busy commercial mid-town Manhattan hotel with no character. This time I wanted to stay in a less busy location in a hotel where the staff welcomed you with a smile. We were not disappointed. We were very pleased with choosing the Beacon. Our room on the 25th floor had all the facilities we needed and as it was a corner suite we had a view of both central park and of the cityscape to the south. The view was quite mesmerising (room 2512 for information). The hotel staff were very friendly as were the other guests we spoke to. The Viand cafe next door served excellent breakfasts and the fairway supermarket across the road was handy for anything we needed for the kitchenette. The Owl’s Tail cocktail bar around the corner made an excellent Manhattan cocktail and the Red Farm asian restaurant a block’s walk up cooked some delicious asian cuisine and also had cold beer on tap. The nearest subway was in sight of the hotel on 72nd street. We would definitely stay here again if we came back to New York.
