My daughter and I stayed at Soho 54 for a night while in NYC. Since our activities were located more in the downtown/Soho/Noho section of NYC we found the location to be absolutely perfect! Located on the corner of Broadway (also known as 6th Avenue) and Watts, it was an easy journey over to the shops of Soho (3 minute walk), Little Italy (6 minute walk), Macdougal street/Washington Square Park (8 minute walk), Wolrd Trade Cebter sites, and lots of great restaurants. comedy clubs, etc.

Check in was very smooth and all the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. We actually arrived around 11:00 AM and were allowed to go immediately to our room since it was ready. Our room was very clean and the bathroom is equipped with a hair dryer, neutrogena soaps and shampoos, etc. The room was a bit Duffy and while the air conditioning worked, it never seemed to quite ‘take the edge off’ and would only go down so low. If it had been in the middle of a true summer heat wave, I think the room would have been uncomfortable to stay in....this would be my only negative comment.

The hotel itself is undergoing a pretty big renovation of its restaurant/bar/terrace area so these are inaccessible at the moment and looks as if it will be very nice when finished.

For the cost, I would definitely stay at Soho 54 again. The location is great, staff are pleasant, and rooms are large and clean!

Overlooking that famous NY's skyscrapers' line - all of them together! - is a fantasy of many, and although I don't belong to that group, I was even more surprised and astonished by seeing them together from our 18th floor room. Empire, Chrysler, MetLife, Rockefeller... all of them at glance!
We were not aware of that in advance and simply booked this place because of its location, just between SoHo and Tribeca, good score and exceptional price (although in February). Being there, we notified some shortcomings, yet overall impression is highly positive. We got even more than expected and fully enjoyed this comfortable, affordable and decent stay + unique opportunity to observe New York's skyline. Additionally, if you also appreciate contemporary architecture, you may visually explore adjacent Renzo Piano's condo building which is literally just a few meters away!
The room was truly spacious, especially for the NY standards, and although they don't have a kitchen neither breakfast offer, you may find complimentary hot and cold drinks, with magnificent hot apple cider which we enjoyed each morning. Highly recommendable and be back for sure if we drop by to that side!

Nice place, good location. Be wary of online booking sites and Sono54 site that fail to accurately describe all charges. We were charged additional 45/night parking and an additional 30/night “facility fee”

Although this hotel offered a low price compared to other hotels in the area, the state of the hotel still does not justify the price point. On top of the daily rate, you are charged $33 a day as a resort fee (for water, wifi etc.). We did not receive water and the wifi wasn't working for the 3 days we were staying in the hotel which was a huge problem since we were working remotely.
The hotel room is fine but the carpet was so incredibly sticky that you could not walk around barefoot. Hairs and make up stains on the bedsheets, really loud AC noise, and things in the room just out of place - the nightstands and chairs were all at strange angles as if someone had bumped into them and not bothered to put them back, not a big deal but added to the overall feel of carelessness in cleaning the rooms between guests.
The only redeeming factor was the shower which had great pressure but it didn't drain and a massive hair clot started floating in the water while we were showering - so disgusting. Would not stay here again, more worth it to splurge a little and be more comfortable.
The last thing is that clearly the city does not keep this hotel in high regard because every day the entire streets' trash bags are piled up in front of the hotel. In the summer when its 90+ degrees, the smell from this is unbearable.

This place has so much potential as it’s in a good location between Soho and Tribeca. The photos they use to market the property look NOTHING like the hotel. Don’t be fooled. They’ve been promising renovations for months now after reading the reviews and the property really needs one.

The room was tired and scabby. Carpet is old worn and gross and all the fixings are coming off the walls. The wallpaper is mouldy and peeling, the shower mouldy and needs to be re caulked. The entire decor and furniture is from the 90s.

There is also no bar / restaurant like they advertise and the “rooftop” is just that a rooftop with aircon units and some wicker chairs from the 70s.

Only thing that saved us was the view. It was magic. Staff were pleasant but nothing special. We also had smokers on our floor a few nights during our stay and nothing was done. Not good for asthmatics.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Disappointing when you’ve traveled from the other side of the world to visit New York.

I booked a two night stay at this place for 10/21 - 10/23 on Amex travel where it was listed as 'Flexible Cancellation.' I clicked on the cancellation policy before booking and the pop up stated a full refund would be granted if cancelled prior to 10/19. Well, now that I do not need this hotel... They are REFUSING to refund me! I have literal screenshots of both the listing saying Flexible Cancellation and what the pop up for the details said. I have attached them as photos for proof. I have been in contact with Amex for over two hours trying to get this resolved. The agent called the hotel on my behalf and explained that we have proof of a flexible cancellation and they still REFUSE to honor it. At this point I am considering filing a false advertising claim with the FTC since this is over $500 they will not return to me. I will also spend every second I have getting them removed from Amex Travel and sharing this review on EVERY travel sites imaginable. Good luck with your business, SoHo 54!! Scamming people is NOT how to treat people.

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It is way worse in person than the photos. After seeing the room we almost moved to a different hotel but didn’t want to waste one of our two days in NYC finding another place to go. The carpet in the room has that movie theater sticky quality. We bought flip flops to wear in the room because it was so gross. We put paper down on all the surfaces because they were sticky also. We just sort of closed our eyes and got through it. Plus side it was cheap. And now we have a funny story of “that hole we stayed in in New York.” But do yourself a favor and stay someplace else.

The plus things: location was close to many things, water pressure was good. The minus things: extra fee added for a few bottles of water and some slow WiFi, our room smelled of stale cigarettes, noisy, noisy, noisy! The place has varying rates on reservation sites. This was like an upscale hostel. We were decidedly underwhelmed. Maybe upscale hostel is what they aspire to be. I believe there are better places to stay. A few days earlier we were at the Embassy Suites Times Square and should have returned.

Overall we had a good stay. The hotel is located between SOHO and Tribeca, few minutes walk from different subway stations and 15-20 minutes walk from different sites and attractions. The room, although dated, was clean and tidy. The free water bottles are a nice touch. The morning reception staff were lovely and helpful.

The WiFi was horrible, barely worked and when it did it was slow and kept disconnecting. The room seen better days and could use a makeover. Some of the staff members were rude and unhelpful. We had a problem with our aircon and the answer we got was "our air conditioners are noisy" (later they sent someone who fixed it to be perfectly silent).

At first glance the hotel seemed fine. The parking was a little confusing and not actually associated with the hotel, but not a big deal. When we got to the room, my son noticed the floor was a bit damp. I assumed maybe they had cleaned it earlier and it was still drying. No. The floor was soaked. Specifically, in between the beds there was some wet, unknown substance, and any time we put our feet down water would spray up. The bottom of the bed was wet from whatever this was. Maintenance came and said that their only option was to put down towels. They also said they could bring up very big fans, but that we wouldn't be able to sleep because they were so loud. The towels all turned a brownish yellow from whatever this substance was. My son and I decided just to go to sleep because we had an early morning and it was already near midnight. They told us there were no other rooms with double beds or other options and have refused to engage with us regarding any kind of refund. I definitely would not recommend staying here given our experience.

Where is the nearest parking garage? How much is the parking fee?
Answer from Billta1
9 contributions5 helpful votes
I use parkingpanda website to find parking if necessary. There are three or four lots within a few blocks but they charge $40/day or more. I usually use the subway or uber in NYC so if I am driving to the city, I park outside of town. The cheapest method I've found is the 155 Richmond Terrace lot on Staten Island. It's a garage that allows reservations and at $8/day the price is great. You take a 5 minute bus ride to the Staten Island Ferry. The ferry is free and takes you to the South Ferry subway station with some of the best views of New York harbor and the Statue of Liberty. Take the 1 train to Canal street and you will be two blocks from the Soho54.
