The Dream Hotel in midtown has a very good location, very close to the subway and central park and in the heart of midtown so great for shows.

Unfortunately, the rooms are very noisy and don't really have any kind of insulation from the noise outside. The best reason to stay at the Dream Hotel in Midtown is for the excellent breakfast options at Applejacks Diner across the road on 57th and Broadway.

We visited New York for the 5th time over Christmas 2019 and stayed at Dream Midtown for the first time.

I chose the hotel due to its location and having stayed a few months prior at Dream Hollywood and also Dream Phuket the year before I am a fan of the chain, they seem to be popping up everywhere at the moment. Dream hotels are perfect for couples in my opinion, always trendy, with great food and beverage options.

Dream Midtown did not disappoint.

The staff were so friendly and polite and actually happy, which is unusual for New York in my opinion! This again is common through all Dream Hotels I’ve stayed at before in other parts of the world, the staff really are a credit to the chain.

The rooms are an ok size by New York standards, however there was no bath tub which was disappointing especially seeing as I had emailed ahead requesting one. The bed was comfortable and room service was provided by the on site Serafina restaurant. Delicious.

Location was the reason we chose this hotel in essence, and it does serve well for exploring the city. A few blocks from Central Park which is walkable in around 5 minutes. Times Square is again about 5 minutes in the opposite direction. There is a Starbucks on the end of the street for morning coffee.

There is a gorgeous roof terrace bar called PHD Terrace which has great views, but is only open certain nights, so be sure to check before visiting.

All in all a solid choice and I would stay here again. This hotel was definitely less noisy than others we have stayed at in Midtown, definitely an advantage after a long day of exploring when you just want a good nights sleep.

I stayed at the Dream Midtown May 8-11 for a business trip and it exceeded my expectations. I had a late evening check in and Franklin at the front desk was so kind and welcoming. I witnessed him being very calm and empathetic to another guest in front of me that was having an issue, too. Franklin and the doorman on duty were very attentive to this guest, as well. It was a nice first impression.

I booked a small basic room as I was there for work and wanted to be out and about enjoying the city during my downtime, so a spacious room was not important to me. While the room was small, it had everything I needed: great natural light, full size bed with fresh linens, desk with chair and TV, temperature controlled, full length mirror and modern wardrobe with drawers and hangers, and my favorite thing in any hotel…a nice shower! I love a good bathroom and this was lovely and included Karl Lagerfeld toiletries. How luxe!

The room and hallways were very tidy. Everyone I came in contact with was pleasant from the front desk to the cleaning staff to the maintenance staff to the doormen to the GM, Paulina. I’d see them in the hall walking to the elevator for example, and they always acknowledged me. I’d love to visit again to go to the rooftop bar, as I didn’t have time to do so on this trip. I wish I would have taken room pics to share, but my room looked just like the photos on their website! So cute!

If you’re looking for an expensive high-end spacious place, perhaps this isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for an affordable, trendy, clean, modern but with a vintage vibe, and more of a boutique feel rather than a big chain then this is your place. I loved it! Plus, you can walk pretty much everywhere or hop on the subway. Great location. A++

Do not stay at this hotel except you would like to be treated poorly despite paying with your hard earned money.
Overall, i will rate Dream Midtown Zero to negative stars.
3 hours after checking into my room, i was battling with the thermostat because the room was 77degrees F. hot and i set the thermostat to cool the room to 64 degrees F but it wasn't cooling.  I thought i wasn't doing anything right so i turned it off.  Minutes later i had to turn it back on as the room became 80 degrees F hot!  At this point i called the front desk, the person i spoke to said " we are sorry we do not turn on the AC in the winter" . Imagine that! It's 60 degrees outside in March and behind these concrete walls its hot and I'm roasting.  He then says he'll transfer the call to speak with the Manager.  After a 10minute hold, Lilian the manager gets on the call and says our AC is not working. Funny right?! because 10mins ago your associate said you all don't turn it on in the winter!. Imagine, i had to spent 2 nights in this dingy hot oven. She then says in her exact words-  "you can check out of the hotel".  Wow! Mind you, this was 10:57PM and i came in from out of state and i had book this hotel 1month out for the trip. I wasn't certain i heard her clearly the first time so i asked her to repeat herself and she said it again. I then asked her to confirm her name and her position and with so much pride she reminded me that she is Lilian the Manager.
Customer service is KEY and this hotel and their representatives do not deserve anyone's money.  They can as well check themselves into their rooms and sleep there since they can't all see past themselves.
I actually saw similar reviews online about noise, poor customer service and the non working AC but i thought its a long solved issue but no! This is March 2020 and Dream Midtown is NOT a place to be. Except all other hotels in NYC is closed down, dont stay at Dream Midtown even for free.

Lilian the Manager needs to be counselled as she is unprofessional.  How do you lead or manage with a bad attitude in a hospitality business. Never again! No-Dream Midtown!

Appalling

Poor experience, had a room with no daylight and loud industrial fans keeping me awake at night, they were loud and kept turn on and off creating a loud start up noise. I reported this issue to reception and they did nothing to help, just kept telling me to come back the next day. We weren’t informed about the service charge, and actually didn’t use any of the services as we weren’t told about them. Plus the WiFi didn’t even work in our room. They’ve taken this charge out of the card I used for my deposit and also put mini bar expenses on top, we didn’t even have anything out of the minibar ! Good location , clean rooms, poor customer service experience constantly put on hold or don’t reply to numerous emails

The room was noisy but spacious. The tub drained super slow (gross). But this is the part that you should know about: I booked and prepaid through Hotels.com and understood that there would be a $100 deposit and a $32 "facilities fee". All fine. I checked in and went to grab a bite and I kept getting alerts that my Amex card was being charged by Dream Hotel. The next day, when I was checking out, I inquired about the charged and they said that everything would drop off except for the facilities fee.
This morning, I look at my Amex account online and the facilities fee cleared, there was another pending charge of over $70, and a cleared charge of over $200. I called the hotel and the front desk kept transferring me to other departments that would not pick up. After a half hour of being transferred around and multiple phone calls, the front desk clerk tells me first that it was a charge through Hotels.com (it wasn't, because it was billed as the DREAM HOTEL), then she claimed it was just pending (it wasn't), then she claims that it was already reversed (it wasn't). Eventually, a front desk manager took over and reluctantly admitted it was a billing mistake.
Sure, mistakes happen, but when I started reading reviews from others who had stayed at this hotel who had the exact same problem, I think it's safe to call it a billing practice and not a mistake.
Check your card statements, people. This place is sketchy in how they treat their patrons.

Stayed here with my wife because she was invited to a recruiting event by a company that has a contract with this hotel. It's certainly inexpensive, but in this case you get what you pay for. Small room (even by NYC standards), dated decor that's getting a little grimy, and (bizarrely) no bedside table or outlets on one side of the bed, just a barren space. Soundproofing is not good. In the morning, I went to get the "included" breakfast (which is just a small selection of cold breads, but that didn't bother me since I only wanted coffee anyway) and the host demanded my "breakfast cards" to prove I was staying at the hotel. I let him know that I wasn't given breakfast cards, but I showed him my room key and told him I was just there for the coffee anyway. That seemed to satisfy him, but when I went to leave, he stopped me and charged me four dollars for my cup of watered down folgers--and asked if I wanted to add a tip! Anyway, we promptly checked out and moved over to the Andaz, which was a great decision.

In the interest of fairness, I should mention that the Dream Midtown bellman and concierge were both friendly and helpful, and the location is quite nice and walkable if you want to be in upper midtown.

We stayed here for a long couples weekend. The only thing we had on our itinerary was to see Hamilton, run in Central Park and drink overpriced cocktails. Dream seemed to be the best located to help us achieve these activities. Beautiful rooms, which are somewhat small, but what else do you expect in NYC? We paid for a slight upgrade, which was worth it especially when we saw our friends' room, which faced an alley and smelled like wet cat.

The rooftop bar was nice enough, but was overrated (especially the flower tunnel).

My niece and I planned a trip to New York for her spring break. We arrived via a taxi to the hotel. We were immediately greeted and our luggage was carried in for us. The check-in staff was so much fun and very engaging. There is a great fish tank in the entry which was really fun. We were on the 11th floor in a very comfortable room with 2 full-sized beds. The room was clean and decorated with trendy wall decor. The person who greeted us at the door took our luggage to our room and did an "orientation" with us to make sure that we got our devices connected to the wi-fi. We saw him on and off throughout our visit and he enthusiastically greeted us every time. The housekeeping staff checked in with us daily to ask a good time to clean the room. The breakfast was ample and included a variety of cereals, fresh fruit, coffee, OJ, bagels, and croissants. There was an additional menu available for other breakfast items at an additional cost. We were able to walk everywhere from this location. There was occasionally some noise outside of the building but this is New York and the city is always awake! There were many places to eat, shop, and see in the immediate area. I was very happy with all aspects of our visit. I would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at Dream Midtown for a holiday weekend in the city. The rooms were very clean and well-maintained. The continental breakfast was sufficient. If you want a full NYC brunch experience, you can pay for it or you can enjoy a croissant/pastry and coffee for free. The location was great - between Central Park and Times Square, you can easily walk to just about anywhere in midtown, but without the mass crowds you have in Times Square. The staff were all very friendly and willing to help. I would recommend this hotel as a frequent NYC traveler.
