The Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York receives mixed feedback from its guests. While the central location is a hit for its convenience to nightlife and transit, hidden fees and amenity charges leave many feeling shortchanged. Though the hotel's cleanliness earns high marks, the noise from both the street and the in-house nightclub frequently disrupts the peace, despite the stylish backdrop the hotel offers.
Room comfort and views are often praised, but noise complaints persist. Service quality varies, with reports of both commendable and disappointing encounters.

Really nice hotel on the lower east side. Extremely spacious room with fabulous views of lower Manhattan. The room was very spacious and the bed was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom was a great size too with and double sized shower. It was simply decorated but very clean. The rooftop bar had amazing views too and was open in the morning where you could get a nice coffee! It was very conveniently located for getting around Manhattan. We walked everywhere, however it was close to the subway on E Houston St too! We would definitely stay here again and look forward to returning!

I stayed 2 nights here. I was in a deluxe queen on the 10th floor. The bathroom was EXCELLENT - extremely clean, great water pressure, hot water comes out immediately. The room itself, I felt could be more "luxe." The furnishings were a bit scuffed up and basic. In addition, I was told there was a $25 "amenity fee" that covered $20 worth of minibar items - yet in my room, the minibar was completely empty. Additionally, even if it were full, I was wondering how I would even know how much is $20 worth of stuff unless it was going to be labeled.
I think the website language is a bit misleading regarding the bar in the rooftop, Hotel Indigo. It's run as a completely separate business so staying at the hotel won't even get you an easier access necessarily to a reservation. And you definitely need a reservation. Our group wasn't able to just go upstairs and be seated, for example.
I also really wish the lobby on the 14th floor was open. This was part of the reason I had booked the hotel, since in the past I used to study and get coffee there. I understand we're in a pandemic but the state of NY has opened indoor spaces such as bars/restaurants and so I don't really understand why the lobby can't be open.
The location is very good in terms of walkability to other neighborhoods such as Soho, Greenwich Village, West Village, and the rest of the Lower East Side.

Hello Elisse P, Thank you for choosing Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York on your recent visit to NYC. We appreciate your continued patronage and appreciate your feedback. While we liked hearing you found our bathrooms to be very clean, we are sorry you encountered some issues with the room's furnishings and minibar. We will work on streamlining the hotel information to avoid any confusion with the separate entity running the rooftop bar and pool. As for the regular pre-pandemic amenities you are accustomed to enjoying, we appreciate your patience and understanding while we work on restoring them gradually. Thank you for staying with us and sharing your feedback! We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Best Regards, Joseph Casas Director of Operations

Lovely hotel in the lower east side not far from little Italy, china town and Soho so good location with easy access to everywhere via the subway. Nice modern hotel with friendly staff and comfortable beds. When we arrived, we were greeted well and check in was straight forward. We were required to pay a deposit on arrival which we weren’t aware of but was told it was just an authorization so gave our card for them to do this. We were assured this would be credit back to the card on departure minus the city tax.
We arrived on my birthday and the hotel kindly upgraded our room to the 23rd floor which was lovely of them. When we got to our room, we were stunned with just how amazing the view was, half of the room was windows, so it was like a panoramic view which was incredible. I am so grateful to the hotel for helping to make our stay and my birthday special. Every morning we woke up to the most incredible sunrise and on one morning it was snowing so again the view over the city was just beautiful. The room itself was lovely, very modern and clean and was a perfect size. The bed was so comfortable we enjoyed a great night’s sleep every night. I honestly couldn’t fault anything. The only issue we had was on the last morning a had a message from my credit card company regarding some charges that had been applied to my card. On checking I realized the hotel had authorized daily payments of nearly £200 per day from my card. I phone reception immediately to query and the gentleman I spoke to advise he would get a manager to explain the fees. When the manager came on the line, he explained that it was a mistake and should have been charged to the airline we booked through and not me. I was really upset that such a mistake was able to happen and asked for my card to be credited immediately and taken off the system. He mentioned the city tax that I advised I would now pay with cash due to this error on their part. He was very understanding and cancelled the authorization immediately which showed on my card within 20 minutes, he also said we could keep our room slightly longer on checkout. As the manager resolved the issue with the card quickly and was very apologetic, we were quite happy. We decided to just check out first thing as there was no point keeping the room as we would have to come back to check out later so it made more sense to just check out and leave our bags ready to collect on route to the airport later that day. All in all, we had an enjoyable stay and loved the room we had, the views made it extra special. We would stay here again, here or another location staying in the same chain of hotels and we would recommend.

I go to NYC quite often and the temptation is always to stay as close to Times Square as possible. That's where all the action is, right? This time I decided to go further afield and chose this hotel. The price differential was significant and it also looked as though the quality of the hotel would be better than a more 'central' option.
The location turned out to be great. We were able to get everywhere very quickly by subway and we had a couple of stops near the hotel that went uptown and downtown and on to Coney Island and Brooklyn. We were able to get pretty much everywhere we wanted within about 15 to 20 minutes.
What was great was that the local neighbourhood was really well served by fantastic little eateries, great stores and the ubiquitous drug stores. You're also just around the corner from Katz's, which is a New York institution - especially for those who love the movie, When Harry Met Sally.
The hotel itself as an industrial vibe, with amazing and very distinctive artwork placed strategically in common areas. The 'lobby' is on the 14th floor and serves a decent selection of food and drinks during the day. It has a co-working feel and is good for relaxing too. On the 15th floor you'll find the bar, but it was too noisy for us!
Our room was very comfortable, with a huge bed, on a corner with great views (on the 17th floor). Furnished in an industrial style it was very eye-catching, but not at the price of comfort.
The staff members we encountered were professional, but not particularly warm. The service was fine, but perfunctory. However this didn't get in the way of anything. Just don't go there expecting folks to gush!

I spent a week here for work. I was given a Corner King room initially. I found it really loud as music from the 15th floor bar drifted up til quite late (I was on the 18th floor). I asked to be moved and was changed to a Deluxe King Studio on the 11th. The room was big, comfortable and quiet. Very very good value for the size and location, I visited the 14th floor lobby / bar and received great service from the bartenders there. The manager texted me to ensure I was happy after the move and was very helpful. Overall I had a great stay here and will be back.

I stayed here for a week on my own and loved the hotel location - it felt perfectly safe to walk in the neighbourhood at all hours and there were plenty of great restaurants nearby. The nightclub on the top floor was pretty noisy but I asked for a quiet room so slept soundly (on the 7th floor) Covid safety measures were pretty good. The doorman checked vaccine certificates and most people in public areas wore masks.Halfway through my stay the bathroom ceiling in my started to leak but staff responded quickly and efficiently, moving me immediately to another room. I appreciated the 'goodie bag' of treats and apology note. I would definitely recommend this hotel but beware the $25 per night 'facility charge' (which can be credited against mini-bar items, laundry, bike hire etc.) which is annoying. Why not just absorb this and charge visitors for the services they use?

This is a great location and the rooms are fine, but when we checked the credit card statement two weeks later there were two questionable charges. The first was an amenities charge of around $20.00 and then there was an extra charge for the original price of the room plus a $200 deposit. I called the hotel, spoke to the front desk, and they told me that the person who was in the accounting department stepped out and they assured me they would call me back. Predictably they never did. A week later the amenities charge was dropped, but the double charge for the stay plus the deposit was still there. My credit card company is recommending that I get a new credit card or wait. So I called the hotel again and they keep dropping my call.

Front desk- customer service at the frontdesk was friendly, but when checking out, there were two young women who were rude and completely ignored me until one of them decided to asked me if I was checking out. So the level of customer service depends on who you talk to! They even refused to call a cab to the airport! Saying that was a bellman job. The bellman was called but he also looked bother to do the job. He didn’t even help me with my bags.
Housekeeping- Upon checking into the room we realized the room was really dusty. However I decided not to make it a big deal. But On the second day they forgot to put clean towels in the bathroom, and the bathroom amenities were not replenished. Ok, no big deal this can happen. It got worse the day after. We returned at 8 Pm from diner, and they were still cleaning the room. Again amenities were not replenished, and when we called it took 3 calls and 30 minutes before they were sent up to the room. Room was also very hot! Spoke to a manager and his only response was that the hotel was going green! So i basically had to deal with my hot room.
Overall I will not be staying in the hotel again. Hotel and rooms are wore out. Management seems clueless.

First, I will comment that the service here is great. I had random requests during my 3 night stay here such as needing something printed, ice, getting a mini fridge to put my leftover food in, etc that the staff handled flawlessly.
The rooms are big for NYC standards, which is another positive. Rain shower is a huge positive but parts of my bathroom were falling apart. The toilet roll hanger was broken so I couldn’t use it, and the soap holder in the shower was half detached from the wall. The shower connector as well was detaching from the wall but it didn’t affect the use.
I also picked this hotel because of the views, but sadly the 14th floor lobby has been closed (I assume for Covid), and since I didn’t splurge on a more expensive room which are the ones shown in the display photos, my window opened out to the back of the building.
Bring earplugs. I’ve lived in NYC and am used to street noise, but the walls here are paper thin. Request to be further away from an elevator because if anyone speaks at a normal volume in the hallway, you’ll hear it. I was on the 4th floor and during the last night of my stay, there was a group of guests out on the patio on the floor below me speaking loudly and yelling at times, which is why I’m writing this review grumpily at 4am instead of sleeping. Check out is fairly late at noon so I’m hoping to catch at least a few hours of sleep if I’m lucky.
The location (LES) is amazing and full of nightlife and great food. I would stay here again just for the location and if the rest of the hotel were open. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s really worth it unless you get a strategically-located room high off the ground (probably also not located around Mr Purple, the nightclub on the 15th floor), and far from the elevators due to noise.

We chose Hotel Indigo mainly for the location and cost, and we like somewhere that's a bit different. The location is perfect, the lower east side has so many bar and restaurant choices and the transport links meant that we could easily get to other parts of the city.
On checking in we were given a room less likely to be impacted by the weekend parties. I'm sure that was the case and thankfully we were both very tired so mostly slept on the 10th floor whilst the rest of the building vibrated with the beat of very very loud music. We did go up to the 15th floor on Sunday evening for a cocktail with an amazing view, the views are probably the reason we paid $57 for 2 drinks.
Our room was very clean and stylish, it had everything we needed. Our only gripe was that we couldn't take advantage of the $20 a day spend on the mini bar as, despite asking, it wasn't restocked. That felt like a bit of a scam when we're paying a resort charge.
Lastly the staff, the concierge and the housekeeping team were good but the staff working on reception need to learn that they create the 1st impression of the hotel. The reception area isn't huge so when you enter it I think its reasonable to expect a hello or a smile, sadly this was not forthcoming. I would even say that 1 person gave us the impression that she couldn't be less interested in us (the woman with pink hair, we didn't see her smile once in 5 days). It's a shame that this is our lasting thought of the hotel.
To sum up, for price and location 10/10, provided you don't expect much sleep on a Saturday night. However my advise to the managers is to teach the front of house team some customer service standards and how to smile.

Yes, my room had a Keurig coffee pod pot/coffee maker. It was stored in a drawer, so I had to search for it, but I did find it.
